"The Discovery of Peter's Tomb in Jerusalem in 1953"

Peter’s Tomb Recently Discovered In Jerusalem

This priest, Milik, admitted that he knew that THE BONES OF ST. PETER ARE NOT IN ROME. I was very much surprised that he would admit that, so to confirm his admittance, I said, to which he also agreed, "THERE IS A HUNDRED TIMES MORE EVIDENCE THAT PETER WAS BURIED IN JERUSALEM THAN IN ROME"....

I have spoken on the subject to many FRANCISCAN PRIESTS who either were or had been in Jerusalem, and they ALL AGREE THAT THE TOMB AND REMAINS OF ST. PETER ARE IN JERUSALEM.

I also spoke to a Franciscan priest in authority at the priest’s printing plant within the walls of old Jerusalem, where their book on the subject was printed. HE ALSO ADMITTED THAT THE TOMB OF ST. PETER IS IN JERUSALEM. Then when I visited the Church of the Nativity in Bethlehem, I encountered a Franciscan monk. After telling him what I thought of the wonderful discovery the Franciscans had made, I asked him plainly, "DO YOU FOLKS REALLY BELIEVE THAT THOSE ARE THE REMAINS OF ST. PETER?" HE RESPONDED, "YES WE DO, WE HAVE NO CHOICE IN THE MATTER. THE CLEAR EVIDENCE IS THERE." ....

I asked, "DOES FATHER BAGATTI (co-writer of the book in Italian on the subject, and archaeologist) REALLY BELIEVE THAT THOSE ARE THE BONES OF ST. PETER?" "YES, HE DOES," was the reply. Then I asked, "But WHAT DOES THE POPE THINK OF ALL THIS?" That was a thousand dollar question and he gave me a million dollar answer. "Well," he confidentially answered in a hushed voice, "Father Bagatti told me personally that three years ago he went to the Pope (Pius XII) in Rome and SHOWED HIM THE EVIDENCE AND THE POPE SAID TO HIM, ‘WELL, WE WILL HAVE TO MAKE SOME CHANGES, BUT FOR THE TIME BEING, KEEP THIS THING QUIET’." In awe I asked also in a subdued voice, "SO THE POPE REALLY BELIEVES THAT THOSE ARE THE BONES OF ST. PETER?" "YES," was his answer. "THE DOCUMENTARY EVIDENCE IS THERE, HE COULD NOT HELP BUT BELIEVE."...

It fell upon them in this manner, as I was told by a Franciscan monk of the monastery of "Dominus Flevit". One of their members was spading the ground on this site in 1953, when his shovel fell through. Excavation was started and there, a large underground Christian burial ground was uncovered. The initial of Christ in Greek was written there which would never have been found in a Jewish, Arab or pagan cemetery. BY THE STRUCTURE OF THE WRITINGS, IT WAS ESTABLISHED BY SCIENTISTS THAT THEY WERE OF THE DAYS JUST BEFORE THE DESTRUCTION OF JERUSALEM BY TITUS IN 70 A.D. On the ossuaries were found many names of the Christian of the early Church....

Saul was converted in 34 A.D. and became Paul the Apostle (Acts 9). Paul tells us that three years after his conversion in 37 A.D., he "went up to Jerusalem to see Peter" (Galatians 1:18), and in 51 A.D., fourteen years later, he again went up to Jerusalem (Gal. 2:1, 8), Peter being mentioned. Soon after that he met Peter in Antioch, and as Paul says, "Withstood him to the face, because he was to be blamed," Gal. 2:11. The evidence is abundant, the truth is clear from the Scriptures which have never failed. It would be breathtaking to read of the boldness of Paul in dealing with Peter....

This ancient Christian burial ground shows that PETER DIED AND WAS BURIED IN JERUSALEM, which is easily understandable since neither history nor the Bible tells of Peter’s having been in Rome. To make matters more clear, the Bible tells us that Peter was the Apostle to the Jews. It was Paul who was the Apostle to the Gentiles, and both history and the Bible tells of his being in Rome....

My comments

Before I comment on Peter's burial place, I want to pass on something I happened to see on the site of "Catholic Online Saints:

In the article "St. Peter," it says, "Simon Peter or Cephas, the first pope, Prince of the Apostles, and founder, with St. Paul, of the SEE OF ROME. It is interesting that Rev. 13:1 speaks of the BEAST coming out of the SEA. In Rev. 17:15, the sea is a symbol of "peoples, and multitudes, and nations, and tongues." Will the BEAST of Rev. 13:1-10 come out of the "SEE OF ROME" (the Pope and appointed cardinals)? I think he will. Rev. 13:7 says, "it was given unto him to make war with the saints, and to overcome them: and power was given him (the Tribulation Pope) over all kindreds, and tongues, and nations" (i.e., over the sea).

This site also says, "It is certain that Peter died in Rome and that his martyrdom came during the reign of Emperor Nero, probably in 64. Testimony of his martyrdom is extensive, including Origen, Eusebius of Caesarea, St. Clement I of Rome, St. Ignatius, and St. Irenaeus. According to rich tradition, PETER WAS CRUCIFIED ON THE VATICAN HILL upside down because he declared himself unworthy to die in the same manner as the Lord. HE WAS THEN BURIED ON VATICAN HILL, AND EXCAVATIONS UNDER ST. PETER’S BASILICA HAVE UNEARTHED HIS PROBABLE TOMB, AND HIS RELICS ARE NOW ENSHRINED UNDER THE HIGH ALTAR OF ST. PETER’S. From the earliest days of the Church, PETER WAS RECOGNIZED AS THE PRINCE OF THE APOSTLES AND THE FIRST SUPREME PONTIFF; HIS SEE, ROME, HAS THUS ENJOYED THE POSITION OF PRIMACY OVER THE ENTIRE CATHOLIC CHURCH." (emphasis mine)

I don't believe this. First century coins prove that Peter was not the first Pontifex Maximus, the emperors were Pontifex Maximus. Among other things, the cemetery under the Vatican is a pagan cemetery. I think Peter would be buried in a Christian cemetery.

Simon Peter's tomb is on the Mt. of Olives near Bethany, where Lazarus lived. His ossuary was found under the grounds of the Franciscan monastery called, "Dominus Flevit." Peter's ossuary, marked "Simon Bar Jona" in Aramaic, was in this underground Christian burial catacomb within 12 feet of the ossuaries of Lazarus, Mary and Martha. Inscriptions clearly indicate that this burial site was used by the first Christians in Jerusalem.

Simon son of Jonah is not likely to refer to anyone else in Simon Peter's family. His forefathers would be buried in a Jewish Cemetery, not a Christian one. Christianity began in 30 AD, so those buried in this cemetery would not date before that.

Peter's ministry was mainly to the Jews. In Gal. 2:7-9, Paul said, "when they saw that the gospel of the uncircumcision (Gentiles) was committed unto me (Paul), as THE GOSPEL OF THE CIRCUMCISION (JEWS) WAS UNTO PETER; (For he that wrought effectually in Peter to the apostleship of the circumcision (Jews), the same was mighty in me toward the Gentiles:) And when James, Cephas (Peter), and John, who seemed to be pillars, perceived the grace that was given unto me, they gave to me (Paul) and Barnabas the right hands of fellowship; that we should go unto the heathen (Gentiles), and THEY UNTO THE CIRCUMCISION (JEWS)."

1 Peter 1:1 says, "Peter, an apostle of Jesus Christ, to the strangers (i.e., Jews of the diaspora) scattered throughout Pontus, Galatia, Cappadocia, Asia, and Bithynia." Since Peter was writing a letter to the diaspora, the chances are very good that he was not among the scattered ones. If he was not among the scattered, he was in Israel.

In John 21:18, Jesus said, "Verily, verily, I say unto thee (Peter), When thou wast young, thou girdest thyself, and walkedst whither thou wouldest: but when thou shalt be old, thou shalt stretch forth thy hands, and another shall gird thee, and carry thee whither thou wouldest not." Would Peter, like Christ, be taken prisoner, tried and executed in Jerusalem?

Incoming E-mail, Re: UN to take control of Iraq?

I read your book back in '95 and I keep tabs on your splendid site daily. Check this article out, it has to make you say...hmmmm.
From Marion McKeone at the UN, NY

3-9-03 - SADDAM Hussein and his family are to be given 72 hours on Tuesday to accept an offer of exile, while 50 of Iraq's top military brass will be offered an amnesty in return for full co-operation with the United Nations in a secret plan to be tabled at its New York headquarters. The highly sensitive proposal was tabled by Pakistan during a closed-door meeting of the 10 non-permanent members of the Security Council on Friday and was brokered by Saudi Arabia, THE VATICAN and moderate Arab states....

If the proposal, understood to be in the form of a short paragraph, becomes part of a second resolution and is adopted by the Security Council, THE UN WOULD OVERSEE THE ESTABLISHMENT OF A POST-SADDAM GOVERNMENT AND THE UN, NOT THE US, WOULD TAKE STEWARDSHIP OF IRAQ'S OILFIELDS.

The Iraqi generals and top ranking officers would have to co-operate fully with UN inspectors to oversee the total elimination of any weapons of mass destruction.

POPE JOHN PAUL II HAS DISPATCHED HIS EMISSARIES TO MEET ALL THE KEY PARTIES DURING THE PAST TWO WEEKS. His special envoy and permanent observer at the UN, Archbishop Renato Rafaele Martino, has been discussing the proposal with all the Security Council members....

Meanwhile, Cardinal Pio Laghi, a former Papal Nuncio, met with President George W Bush, while Cardinal Angelo Sodano has met with Tony Blair. Cardinal Roger Etchegaray met with Saddam in Baghdad and discussed the subject of exile, which he said Saddam did not rule out....(emphasis mine)

My comments

Thanks for making sure I see this article. I have been expecting the Pope to get into the act with the UN for a long time.

First, this is the Pope's idea. That isn't surprising, since the beast of Rev. 13 rises out of the sea (symbol of peoples and nations, Rev. 17:15). That sea could also tie in with what is called the Holy See.

With the UN organization of peoples and nations already overseeing things in Iraq, it would be to the UN's advantage to move to Iraq. I can see how the new Capitol of the World could be built at Babylon. Saddam has been restoring the city. Also, he has built an unused new palace nearby, where officials could be housed until their new offices are ready. I expect that, along with the UN in Babylon, will be the UR, the United Religions, with the Tribulation Pope over all religions of the world. We know that "power was given him over all kindreds, and tongues, and nations. AND all that dwell upon the earth shall worship him, whose names are NOT written in the book of life of the Lamb" (Rev. 13:7,8). I think the Tribulation Pope called the Beast (Rev. 20:10) will be over both the UN and UR during the first half of the 70th week of Dan. 9:27.

Vatican Becomes Anti-War Rallying Point

3-12-03 - VATICAN CITY (AP) -- Pope John Paul II and top Vatican officials are unleashing a barrage of condemnations of a possible U.S. military strike on Iraq, calling it immoral, risky and a "crime against peace."

The unwavering stance has made the pope one of the most visible opponents of war in current circumstances, and a rallying point for peace groups and politicians who seize on his words counseling against war. Even those supportive of a U.S.-led strike, including the prime ministers of Britain, Spain and Italy, have recently lined up to see him, aware of HIS LEADERSHIP ROLE.... (emphasis mine)

The Pope Stands with Saddam

Go to this URL to see another good picture of Jesus, I can't copy her digital painting of Jesus in .jpg, but I did get the satellite photo

"I Come," a digital painting, by Katie Stewart

An evangelist in England, Jim Sepulveda, was given the SATELLITE PHOTO FROM SOMEONE WHO WORKED AT A WEATHER STATION, in 1986 or 87. Some time later, Jim clinically died, saw Jesus, and came back to life. He says the One he saw while dead is the same as the One in THE SATELLITE PHOTO! He recognized Him immediately! There is a video testimony of Jim, telling how he got the photo, his death experience, etc. Videos may still be available at The 11th Hour Television Ministry, P.O. Box 4848 Modesto, CA 95352. This is where Jim was interviewed. Just ask for Jim Sepulveda's testimony.

(This is the satellite picture of Jesus)

"For a long time, I have wished for a clearer picture of what Christ might look like, based on the satellite image.

Being a freelance artist, I finally decided I must try this daunting task. Using the satellite image as the skeletal foundation, I began layering the color.

Knowing that 'I can of mine own self do nothing' (John 5:30), and that 'I can do all things through Christ which strengtheneth me' (Philippians 4:13), it was my delight that the LORD caused the digital painting to result in the clear realization that Christ's soon return is bringing Him into sharper focus.

'Behold, I come quickly: hold that fast which thou hast, that no man take thy Crown'" (Revelation 3:11). Katie Stewart

Not Afraid to Die

The Story of Jim Sepulveda, by Jim Sepulveda

The testimony that follows tells of a gentleman who had no need for God until He was handed a death sentence. Let's move quickly into this powerful story.

"Jim, if you own anything of value, you'd better make out a will," my doctor told me after severe chest pains sent me to the hospital. Tests revealed an enlarged heart, a damaged main valve, and two main arteries blocked by cholesterol. I would need double bypass surgery and valve replacement. "We give you only a 10 percent chance of making it," the doctor warned. I was terrified. At age 35 I was too young to die.

ix weeks before surgery God intervened in my life. Much against my own personal wishes, God arranged for me to attend a healing meeting. Once there, I was greatly agitated by what was going on, and was going to leave during the service when suddenly the speaker announced: "The Holy Spirit is telling me there's a man here who is scheduled for open heart surgery. If you will come down now, I believe the Lord's going to heal you." I glanced around as he waited. Surely he didn't mean me. No one came forward, "God has a work for this man," the speaker continued. "Let us pray and see if the Holy Spirit might reveal the man's name to me."

Incredibly, God did reveal my name, and reluctantly, I went forward. After answering a few of his questions, here's what happened: Suddenly my knees buckled and I fell to the platform, wrapped in a warm blanket of peace and love. A red light appeared toward the ceiling, which came down and touched my head. A pure warm heat ran up my left side and stopped in the area of my chest. Then it felt like two little fingers moved things around inside my heart "Jesus, I love You." The words slipped from my mouth without conscious thought. "I know that I know that You've healed me. I love You." Up to this moment, I hadn't been to church in 13 years, sad to say.

Upon returning to my doctor, I told him about my experience in the auditorium. He wasn't impressed. "Jim, if you don't have open heart surgery, you won't last over 6 months." We discussed the situation at length, then a clear thought came to mind: Catheterization. Do it for the glory of God. I knew that was a procedure when doctors make an incision in one main artery, then feed a catheter into the heart to take pictures and ascertain the exact state of the heart.

"Doc, listen. I don't want that open-heart surgery. I want a Catheterization." He argued, but I convinced him. Several days later I was on the operating table. I was awake during the whole Catheterization process. Everything seemed to go very well. Then during the last maneuver I suddenly felt like a white-hot poker was stabbing my heart. Agonizing pain ran across my shoulders and down my side. I began to lose consciousness and felt the doctors pounding on my chest. As dark shadows closed around me, I could hear voices from far away, echoing like sound in a tunnel: "We're losing him... losing him... losing him...

I opened my eyes. I was standing in a field, surrounded by acres of green grass. Every blade of it glowed, as if a tiny spotlight lighted them. To my right stretched a dazzling expanse of flowers, with vibrant colors I'd never seen before. I walked over a nearby hill, stopping as a light began to appear near me. The blinding aura was too bright to look at directly. I squinted down toward the ground, then saw a pair of sandals begin to appear at the bottom of the light.

As my eyes moved upward, I glimpsed the hem of a seamless white gown. Higher, I could make out the form of a man's body. Around his head shone an even brighter brilliance, obscuring a direct view of his face. Even though I couldn't see clearly because of the dazzling splendor, I knew immediately the identity of this Man. I was standing in the presence of Jesus Christ.

"Jim, I love you." His voice washed over me . . . indescribably gentle, tender, peaceful. "But it's not your time yet. You must go back, for you have many works for Me to do."

he brilliance surrounding Him reached out and engulfed me, immersing me in love and peace. I don't know how long I stood transfixed, but finally I turned away and began walking back over the hill. Then a blue mist of light began to come around me like a fog. It turned into a dark shadow, and everything turned black. Opening my eyes, I realized I was back on the operating table, covered with a sheet. I didn't know that until later my heart had stopped beating for 8 minutes. They had given me up for dead!

Everyone had left the operating room except for the main surgeon and one of his assistants. They were at the back of the room, filling out a report on my death. As I sat up, the sheet slid down my lap. They turned and looked at me, with their faces ghost white. "Get the rest of them in here quick!" the surgeon urged his assistant. The doctors performed numerous tests. Early the next morning the surgeon came to my room and announced he was releasing me from the hospital. "Come back this evening at 8:30 to my office. We'll go over all the results of your new tests."

That evening I told my doctor what I'd experienced during the 8 minutes I was clinically dead on the operating table. "Jim," he said, "let me show you something you won't believe." He showed me the new pictures of my heart. Rather than being enlarged, it was now normal size. There had previously been 85 percent blockage in two arteries; now there was none. The main valve was functioning normally. My doctor looked at me, tears in his eyes. "Jim, this Jesus you've been talking about has either replaced or repaired your heart."

Shortly afterward God called me into ministry. Since then I've had the opportunity to share my testimony to thousands - both here in America and in Europe. It's been the thrill of my life to see the Lord use me to touch so many lives, to see people turn their lives over to Jesus Christ and see the positive change that follows, as they grow in their personal relationship with Him. Before this all happened, as I faced the good possibility of dying, I was terrified. Now my fear is gone, as yours can be, replaced by the joy of knowing someday I will see my Savior again face to face.

Thank you for taking the time to read my testimony and it's my prayer that it helps you come to believe on Jesus Christ as your Lord and Savior. If there's any doubt that Jesus Christ is the one to put one's trust in for eternal salvation... there certainly wouldn't be doubt any longer if you had seen what I had seen during those 8 minutes I was dead.

Let us never forget Christ's promise to humanity as recorded in the Bible in John 20:29. Thomas was one of the Lord's disciples at the time of Christ's crucifixion. After-Christ's resurrection from the tomb, He returned in bodily form and revealed Himself to His disciples, but NOT Thomas.

The disciples who had seen Jesus was later telling Thomas what they had seen and heard Jesus say, but Thomas was as doubting as you and I might have been.

"Unless I shall see in His hands the imprint of the nails, and put my finger into the place of the nails, and put my hand into His side, I will not believe."

Eight days later, Jesus then revealed Himself to Thomas also. The words Jesus Christ spoke to Thomas still echo across the universe, and through the soul of every person who longs to be right with God, and grow in relationship with Him:

"Blessed are those who have not seen, and yet believed."

What does scripture then say is the benefit? "That you may believe that Jesus is the Christ, the Son of God, and that believing you may have life in His name. (John 20:31). There's a great difference between mere religious activity . . . and LIFE in Jesus Christ isn't there?

Moscow Offers Plan to Prevent War and Rescue Saddam

2-25-03 - ...According to DEBKAfile’s intelligence and Russian sources, Russian President Vladimir Putin has stepped into the bipolar crisis over Iraq between the US-led and French-led world blocs with a dramatic proposition for averting war. In this approach, he sees eye to eye with the French, German and Chinese rulers and is eager to consult with the Schroeder on his new plan.

But first, he tried selling it to Iraqi ruler Saddam Hussein....

Incoming email, Re: Pope (John Paul II) theology

From: Jim Bramlett

3-6-03 - Pope presumptuously to Bush: "Go into Iraq and You Go Without God." See article at

The Pope is quoted as saying, "God is a neutral observer in the affairs of man..."

I wonder what Bible he has been reading, if any? The entire Bible is about God's non-neutral intervention in the affairs of men, from Genesis through Revelation. When He sent His only begotten Son it was not because He was a neutral observer. When Jesus was scourged and crucified, it is not because the Second Person of the Godhead was a neutral observer. The Pope's statement represents the theology of deism, which basically says that there is a God but that He stands outside of humanity and does not interfere, which, of course, rules out the incarnation and the redemptive work of Christ, as well as His rule over Israel and in the affairs of all nations, a clear biblical truth.

The article says that the Vatican stands by its view that "a pre-emptive strike on Iraq is immoral unless backed by the United Nations."

Since when did the United Nations become moral, or the moral standard for the world, being comprised largely of corrupt, despotic, anti-Western, anti-Christian and anti-Semitic regimes?

Or when did the United Nations, or the Vatican, take on the responsibility of protecting U.S. citizens? That is the job of the United States armed forces and its Commander-in-Chief, and no one else.

Whether or not it is God's will that Saddam be disarmed and his mass murders stopped may be a matter for debate, but the above effort by the Vatican does not add rationality or biblical clarity to the issues.

There must be more behind these statements than meets the eye. Jim

Pope to Bush: Go into Iraq and you go without God

3-5-03 - Pope John Paul II has a strong message for President George W. Bush: God is not on your side if you invade Iraq. But the President told the pope's envoy the leader of the world's Catholics is wrong.

...Bush said removing Saddam Hussein would make the world more peaceful....

The Pope also questioned the President's statements invoking God's name as justification for the invasion.

"GOD IS A NEUTRAL OBSERVER IN THE AFFAIRS OF MAN," THE POPE SAID. "Man cannot march into war and assume God will be at his side."

In Rome, the pope called for "common efforts to spare humanity another dramatic conflict."

The Vatican stands by its view that a pre-emptive strike on Iraq is immoral unless backed by the United Nations, Laghi said.

"It's illegal, it's unjust," Laghi told reporters after the session with Bush.

"There are still peaceful avenues within the context of the vast patrimony of international law and institutions which exist for that purpose," Laghi said. "There is great unity on this grave matter on the part of the Holy See, the bishops in the United States, and the church throughout the world," he said....

WEEKLY UPDATES FROM Cutting Edge Ministries
By David Bay, Director - 3-6-03 -

...False Prophet -- We learned during the members-only seminar at the Boston House of Theosophy on August 18, 1991, that the Illuminati had just made the official decision that THE ROMAN CATHOLIC POPE -- WHOMEVER IT WILL BE AT THE TIME -- WILL BE THE TOP RELIGIOUS LEADER IN THE ONE-WORLD RELIGION. THIS MAKES HIM THE FALSE PROPHET [Read NEWS1052]. Pope John Paul II has been adamantly opposed to this war. Not only has he verbally opposed the war, he has received Iraq's Foreign Minister, Tariq Aziz, at the Vatican to give a sympathetic ear to the "plight" of the Iraqi government. The Pope also met with Prime Minister Tony Blair to voice his concerns, and is sending a Cardinal to meet with President Bush, arguing that this war is not a "Just War"....

My comments

According to Rev. 20:10, the Devil will be cast into the Lake of Fire where "THE BEAST AND THE FALSE PROPHET ARE."

As I understand it, during the first half of the Tribulation, The BEAST of Rev. 13:2-10 will rule. During the shortened Great Tribulation that follows, the FALSE PROPHET will rule (Rev. 13:11-18).

Isa 9:15 says, "The ancient and honourable, he is the head; and the prophet that teacheth lies, he is the tail." Since the "prophet that teacheth lies" is the FALSE PROPHET, the "ancient and honourable" is the BEAST.

I think the "ancient and honourable" BEAST will be the Tribulation Pope. Rev 13:8 says, "all that dwell upon the earth (i.e., all religious groups) shall worship him, whose names are not written in the book of life of the Lamb slain from the foundation of the world.

Rev. 17:18-10 shows us that there are 7 kings that are the heads of the great red dragon. The kingdoms that they rule are (1) Babel, (2) Babylon II, (3) Media-Persia, (4) Greece, (5) Imperial Rome, (6) Ecclesiastical Rome, i.e., the Pope, and (7) the UN, headed up by the False Prophet.

In Isa 9:15, "The ancient and honourable (i.e., the Tribulation Pope), he is the head (6th head of the great red dragon, Rev. 17:10, the one that "is" in power at the time of the Rapture); and the prophet that teacheth lies, he is the tail." The 2nd beast of Rev. 13 is the 7th head of the great red dragon and is possessed by Satan, the tail."

Augustus was getting old and sick. Tiberius was Acting Caesar during this time. But his reign is not dated from AD 12, but AD 14 in the Roman histories.

There are other coins minted later that prove this. Stephen

My reply

Of course, as Sole Rex, the reign of Tiberius began in 14 AD. However, he had already been ruling over the Jews for 2 years. We have to look at these things from a Jewish point of view. The Bible was written from a Jewish point of view.

Here are some interesting coins that reflect the Jew's inclusive reckoning. In the first, the years of Tiberius are counted inclusively. Year16 AD is "Year 3." These 3 years of the reign of Tiberius as Sole Rex would be 14, 15 and16 AD.

Unhappy with the rule of the Roman Procurators, the Judaeans rose up in open revolt in AD 66. The revolt withstood the Romans for several years (not a small thing), but in AD 70 Titus (son of Vespasian and himself future emperor) was sent to put and end to it. Jerusalem was sacked and the Temple was destroyed. During this period, the Jewish people struck a number of types of coins, and afterwards, the Romans struck the Judea Capta series to commemorate their victory.
