While studying the Great Pyramid of Giza, I ran across some interesting pictures of sphinxes I didn't know existed. The ones I already knew about are the Great Sphinx of Giza and the one in the Dendereh Zodiac in the ceiling of the temple of Esneh in Egypt. It shows that the first sign of the Zodiac is Virgo, and the last sign is Leo.

Temple of Esneh

http://www.mazzaroth.com/ChapterOne/TempleOfEsneh.htm

As seen above between the figures of Virgo, The Virgin, and Leo, The Lion, there is carved the figure of the sphinx with the head of a woman and the body of a lion. The woman’s face is looking at Leo and the lion’s tail is pointing at Virgo, leading to the assumption that we begin with the virgin and end with Leo.

That same sphinx is found in the same place in a number of other great paintings of the Mazzaroth (or the constellations of the zodiac), in other parts of the Near East, going back as much as 4,000 years....

Frances Rolleston..."the Sphinx was invented as a memorial guide to the heavens. It had the head of a woman and the body and tail of a lion, to tell us where to start and stop (in the Zodiac). The word "Sphinx" is from the Greek "sphingo," to join -- because it binds together the story's two ends, making this circle of the heavens."

"Confirmation of this is found in one of the oldest zodiacs, dating back to approximately the year 2000 B.C. This is the zodiac of Dendereh. It was discovered by scholars in the ceiling of the portico of the temple of Esneh in Egypt. In this zodiac there is placed between the signs of Virgo and Leo a picture of the Sphinx."

Redating the Great Sphinx of Giza

by Associate-Professor Robert Schoch (KMT 1992) http://www.antiquityofman.com/Schoch_redating.html

The original surface details of the body have weathered away in the distant past, and the current head of the figure-which everyone agrees is almost surely the result ot recarving.

How Old Are The Pyramids?

http://www.pbs.org/wgbh/nova/pyramid/explore/howold.html

...The history books generally point to 3200 B.C. as the approximate date when the pyramid of Khufu was under construction....NOVA Online's interviews with two experts reveal the results of recent carbon dating on the pyramids...

ZAHI HAWASS, Director General of Giza
NOVA: There have been claims that a great civilization predates ancient dynastic Egypt -- one that existed some 10,500 years B.C. -- and that this civilization was responsible for building the pyramids and sculpting the Sphinx. Is this possible?

HAWASS: Of course it is not possible for one reason. Until now there is no evidence at all that has been found in any place, not only at Giza, but also in Egypt. People have been excavating in Egypt for the last 200 years. No single artifact, no single inscription, or pottery, or anything has been found until now, in any place to predate the Egyptian civilization more than 5,000 years ago.

NOVA: What evidence do you have that the pyramids and tombs at Giza were from, as you say, no more than 5,000 years ago.

HAWASS: First of all you have inscriptions that are written inside the tombs, the tombs that are located on the west side of the Great Pyramid for the officials, and the tombs that are located on the east side of the Great Pyramid for the nobles, the family of the King Khufu. And you have this lady, the daughter of Khufu. And this man was the vizier of the king. This one was the inspector of the pyramids, the chief inspector of the pyramids, the wife of the pyramid, the priest of the pyramid. You have the inscriptions and you have pottery dated to Dynasty 4. You have inscriptions that they found of someone who was the overseer of the side of the Pyramid of Khufu. And another one who was the overseer of the west side of the pyramid. You have tombs of the workmen who built the pyramids that we found, with at least 30 titles that have been found on them to connect the Great Pyramid of Khufu to Dynasty 4. You have the bakery that Mark Lehner found. And all the evidence that we excavate here....

Directly in front of the Sphinx, we found a solution cavity in 1978, during what's called the SRI Project, which has been written about. We actually cleared out this cavity. We found dolomite pounders, these round balls of hard dolomite that are characteristic hammerstones of the age of the pyramids that they used for roughing out work in stone. Beyond that, Zahi and I excavated deposits on the floor of the Sphinx, even more substantial, deposits that were sealed by an 18th Dynasty temple, built by Tutankamen's great grandfather when the Sphinx was already 1,200 years old. But it was built by a pharaoh named Amenhotep II and his son, Thelmos IV. They put the foundation of this temple right over deposits of the Old Kingdom, and sealed it, so that they were left there and were not cleared away by earlier excavators in our era in the 1930s.

Zahi and I sort of did a stratographic dissection of these ancient deposits....The bottom material sealed by a temple built by Tutankamen's great or great great grandfather, was Old Kingdom construction debris. They stopped work cutting the outlines of the Sphinx ditch -- the Sphinx sits down in this ditch or sanctuary. We were able to show exactly where they stopped work. They didn't quite finish that. We found tools, we found pottery, characteristic of the Old Kingdom time of Khufu, Khafre, and Menkaure.

Now the point is this. That it's not just this crevice or that nook and cranny or that deposit underneath this temple, but all over Giza, you find this kind of material. And as I say in looking for our carbon-14 samples, climbing in the pyramids you find the same material embedded in the very fabric of the pyramids, in the mortar bonding the stones together.

Who Built the GREAT PYRAMID?

by Herman L. Hoeh

Strabo (BC 64-24 AD), the ancient Roman historian, expressly states that in his day the Great Pyramid was accessible to visitors: "It has on its side," he states, "a stone which can be moved. When it has been lifted up, a tortuous passage is seen which leads to the tomb" (bk. xvii, p. 808).

KHUFU 's LAST WILL

By Jean-François DESCHAMPS

News archive one

http://freespace.virgin.net/kena.edfu/news_archive1.html Colin states that the Khafre causeway has bisected and therefore influenced the construction of a quarry made by the pharaoh Khufu. Thus, a later construction has influenced the design of an earlier one. Colin interprets this as indicating that the Khafre causeway and the Valley Temple were built in pre-dynastic times - before the pyramids themselves were constructed. This is, of course, a possibility. But it is also possible that the whole of the Giza plateau was constructed long before the reign of Khufu, and that Khufu's true contribution to the site was no more than this small quarry, and some general repairs. Colin also quotes the case of the 1979/80 ARCE Sphinx Project, for which Mark Lehner was the Field Director. The team sought to detect masonry marks under the 4th dynasty blocks applied to the rump of the Sphinx. However, what they found was extensive weather erosion of the underlying sphinx body. To explain the weathering under Khufu's or Khafre's repairs, Colin Reader suggests that this places the construction of the Sphinx to a few centuries before the fourth dynasty. However, as above, it could also indicate once more that the whole of the Giza plateau was constructed long before the reign of Khufu, and that Khufu's true contribution to the site was no more than a small quarry, and some general repairs.

The Great Pyramid - Reflections in Time

By John Tatler
http://www.biblebelievers.org.au/pyramid.htm

Someway down the Descending Passage from the entrance, forty feet two inches to be precise, there are TWO SCORED LINES in the stone wall, opposite each other across the passage and perpendicular to the floor, . THESE LINES GIVE US A PRECISE DATE AND TIME, THAT BEING NOON OF THE 21ST MARCH (THE SPRING EQUINOX), OF THE YEAR 2141 BC. Astronomical research has revealed that these lines were in alignment with the star Alcyone of the Pleiades, in the constellation of Taurus the Bull, in the year 2141 BC. Evidence that this was the period intended that we start the dating system comes from the very angle of 26 DEGREES 18 MINUTES 9.7 SECONDS THAT IS THE ELEVATION OF THE DESCENDING PASSAGE. FOR 26 DEGREES 18 MINUTES 9.7 SECONDS WAS ALSO THE ELEVATION OF THE POLE STAR, ALPHA DRACONIS FROM THE LATITUDE OF THE GREAT PYRAMID AT 2141 BC....

According to the astronomers THE DATE OF 2141 BC IS THE ONLY TIME WITHIN THE CURRENT PRECESSIONAL CYCLE WHEN THE ALIGNMENT OF BOTH STARS MET THESE PECULIAR CONDITIONS. It is vital to understand that this is the only star alignment that fits these circumstances, no other alignments would suggest themselves as alternative considerations.

Moving backwards in time from the year 2141 BC, at the rate of one inch per year, for a distance of 482 inches (forty feet two inches), we...arrive at THE ENTRANCE TO THE DESCENDING PASSAGE, THIS CORRESPONDS WITH THE YEAR 2623 BC.

So in the year 2141 BC the star Alcyone of the Pleiades, in the constellation of Taurus the Bull, was aligned with the two scored lines in the stone walls of the Descending Passage. AT THE SAME TIME THE ANGLE OF 26 DEGREES 18 MINUTES 9.7 SECONDS, THAT IS THE ELEVATION OF THE DESCENDING PASSAGE, WAS THE ELEVATION OF THE POLE STAR, ALPHA DRACONIS from the latitude of the Great Pyramid. The Pole Star would have shone directly down the Descending Passage at this time....

There are some intriguing parallels in this underground architecture, the entrance to the chamber is, as we have just seen, chronicled by the year AD 1914 and the first world war, whilst THE EDGE OF THE PIT IS CALCULATED TO BE THE YEAR AD 2004....

My thoughts

The Pyramid was built sometime within the span between BC 4044 (Adam's creation) and the Flood in BC 2387. Anything before or after this block won't work. There is salt on the walls in the King's and Queen's chambers as well as in the Grand Gallery, showing that the Flood waters seeped into the Pyramid.

Draconis lined up at noon March 21, 2141 BC, after the Pyramid construction was finished. The correct angle of the Descending Passage was pre-planned by God, the only one that could have figured it. He would not be likely to line up the Descending Passage with Draconis at any time during construction, because he wouldn't want anyone to think Satan built the Pyramid. The Pit, or Bottomless Pit, does represent Hell, however.

Josephus said that Adam and Seth "were the inventors of that peculiar sort of wisdom which is concerned with the heavenly bodies, and their order (i.e., the Zodiac). And that their inventions might not be lost before they were sufficiently known, upon Adam's prediction that the world was to be destroyed at one time by the force of fire, and at another time by the violence and quantity of water, THEY MADE TWO PILLARS; THE ONE OF BRICK, THE OTHER OF STONE; they inscribed their discoveries on them both, that in case the pillar of brick should be destroyed by the flood, THE PILLAR OF STONE MIGHT REMAIN, AND EXHIBIT THOSE DISCOVERIES TO MANKIND; and also inform them that there was another pillar of brick erected by them. NOW THIS REMAINS IN THE LAND OF SIRIAD (EGYPT) TO THIS DAY" (Ant. I. II. 3).

Since both Adam and Enoch were prophets, Adam and Seth "made" the Pyramid, and the "Circle of Enoch" is thought to set the time scale inside the Pyramid, it was probably built during the 30 years preceding Adam's death (3143 - 3113 BC). All three men were alive during those years.

Both Adam and Enoch (Jude 14) were prophets, so it seems likely that the Lord gave them the information on how to build the Pyramid. The brick pillar could have been for hands-on practice, a teaching tool.

Since there were giants on the Earth in those days, I think they helped build the Pyramid. That's the only way I can think of that the enormous task could be accomplished in just 30 years.

The reign of King Khufu, Dynasty IV in Old Egypt, her golden age, is said to be 2551 - 2528 BC. History books say the Pyramid was built in BC 3200. Instead of building the Pyramid and Sphinx, it looks like Khufu repaired the pre-existing Sphinx.

The light of Polaris reaching the bottom of the Descending Passage in 2004 seems right on the money. I sure wish I knew the month and day that Polaris will be seen from Giza, Egypt (6 miles out of Cairo) at the angle of 26 degrees, 18 minutes, and 9.7 seconds.

"...Due to the high accuracy with which the Egyptians constructed the pyramids, Kate Spence's (an Egyptologist at the University of Cambridge) work in 2000 has allowed the date of construction of the Great Pyramid at Giza to be pinned to an accuracy of ±5 years....

The Great Pyramid, also called the Pyramid of Khufu (or, in older texts, as Cheops), has sides which deviate from true North by an average of less than 3 arcmin. They are also nearly perfectly straight, varying no more than 2 cm (2/3 in.) in their 230 m (755 ft) length. This accuracy is the most precise of all the subsequent pyramids, which actually grew more inaccurate the latter they were made. Spence assumed that pyramid construction began in the second year of a monarch's reign.

Between the reigns of Snofru and Neferirkare (~2600-2400 B.C.), eight major pyramids were constructed, all in a nearly straight line. Researchers which propose stellar alignment methods...agree that the Egyptians used northern or circumpolar stars for orientation of the east and/or west sides of the pyramid. Most studies show that it was mainly the west side that was accurately aligned (because it is the best aligned), while the other sides were determined through the creation of right angles....

The stellar orientation scheme, however, would be supported by the progressive deviation of the alignments from true North...The increasing inaccuracy is probably a result of precession - something the Greeks discovered two millennia later.

It is precession that Spence used to date the construction of the Great Pyramid. The Earth precesses once every 25,785 years...Because it takes so long for this motion to occur, it is not noticeable unless one has extremely accurate position measurements or has observations spanning thousands of years, neither of which were available to the ancient Egyptians.

The "North Star" of the period was a-Draconis, also known as Thuban, though it was 2° away from true North at the time of Khufu. However, rather than the use of one star, Spence proposes that two circumpolar stars were used, and that an imaginary chord was drawn between the two as they rotated about celestial North. When the two stars are vertically aligned, an alignment with the stars of a plumb-line will be exactly oriented to true North. Then, because of precession, this method will become increasingly inaccurate with time.

Through back-tracking precession rates, and examining the sky between 2750-2350 B.C., Spence looked for pairs of bright stars within 15° of the north celestial pole. She found...Ursae Majoris and...Ursae Minoris, that fit this time period...Based upon these, Spence concludes that the date of 2478 B.C. for the alignment of the Great Pyramid....

The pyramids and the Sphinx were once under water

http://falundafa-newengland.org/MA/science/pyramids.htm

Schwaller observed a curious physical anomaly in the pyramid complex at Giza. The erosion on the Sphinx, he noted, was quite different from the erosion observable on other structures. Schwaller suggested that the cause of erosion on the Sphinx was water rather than wind-borne sand....

Directly in front of the Sphinx, we found a solution cavity in 1978, during what's called the SRI Project...We actually cleared out this cavity. We found dolomite pounders, these round balls of hard dolomite that are characteristic hammerstones of the age of the pyramids that they used for roughing out work in stone. My comments

The head of the 65 ft, high Sphinx didn't show as much water erosion from Noah's Flood as below.

In the Grand Pyramid, salt was found on the limestone walls of the Queen's Chamber and some in the Grand Gallery side walls, but not as much as in the Queen's Chamber. The highest gable of the Kings Chamber also has salt. As well as the facing stones were sealed with mortar of such great quality that we can't duplicate it today, the Flood waters seeped into the Pyramid. It must have taken quite awhile for the water to soak into The Pit. It is easy to see that the air passages were necessary for it to dry out.

Since the Pyramid was Pre-Flood, the giants probably did help build all 203 courses.

The star Alpha Draconis lined up with the Descending Passage at noon, March 21, BC 2141, the spring equinox. Now, Polaris is to shine all the way down in 2004, probably in the latter part. Only God could have known how to arrange this, for both times would take place after the Pyramid was completed. To me, this is God's stamp on the Pyramid. It would have been an utter impossibility otherwise.

There were 144,000 outer casing stones. That reminds me of the 144,000 Israelites in Rev. 7. Those stones have been taken away for now. Maybe this is part of the plan after all, since the 144,000 are not flown up the Grand Passage and through the high air passage into the air under the lintel that represents the Earth at the Pre-Trib Rapture. They will be caught up at the Pre-Wrath Rapture.

I found a drawing looking up the Grand Gallery. To access it on foot, one would have to take an awfully big first step. A man was standing below with his hand stretched out over his head and folding over the top of the step. There is The Big Step just before the King's Chamber too. It seems to represent the 2nd Rapture.

July 17, 2004 - possible start of the day of the Lord?

4 ASTRONOMERS 'PINPOINT TIME AND DATE OF CRUCIFIXION AND RESURRECTION'
Ananova
May 8, 2003 Two Romanian astronomers say their research shows Christ died at 3pm on a Friday, and rose again at 4am on a Sunday. Liviu Mircea and Tiberiu Oproiu claim to have pinpointed the exact time and date of Christ's crucifixion and resurrection. The pair, from the Astronomic Observatory Institute in Cluj, Romania, say Jesus died at 3pm on Friday, April 3, 33 AD, and rose again at 4am on Sunday, April 5. They used a computer programme to check biblical references against historical astronomical data. They said the New Testament stated that Jesus died the day after the first night with a full moon, after the vernal equinox. Using data gathered on the stars between 26 and 35 AD they established that in those nine years, the first full moon after the vernal equinox was registered twice -- on Friday, April 7, 30 AD, and on Friday, April 3, 33 AD. They were convinced the date of the crucifixion was 33 AD, and not 30 AD, because records showed a solar eclipse, as depicted in the Bible at the time of Jesus' crucifixion, occurred in Jerusalem that year. ananova April 3, 33 AD/16 Nissan, 3793 (see 16 Nissan below) 2,000 years x 360 days (biblical year) = 720,000 days

April 3, 33 AD + 720,000 days = July 17, 2004 (around this date) Possible start of Day of the Lord? Calculate dates for yourself. I don't know if the above calculator takes into account the 10 days Pope Gregory chopped off in October 1582 (October 4th was followed by October 15th) to get the calendar back in line with equinoxes? Anyway, around the date of July 17 is the Fast of 17th of Tammuz (July 6) and Tisha B'Av (July 27) on the Jewish calendar. Fast of 17th Tammuz commemorates: (The following is from http://www.ou.org/)

Going all the way back to Biblical times, Moses descended Mount Sinai on this day and, upon seeing the Golden Calf broke the first set of Tablets carrying the Ten Commandments (Shemot 32:19, Mishna Taanit 28b). In the First Temple Era: The priests in the First Temple stopped offering the daily sacrifice on this day (Taanit 28b) due to the shortage of sheep during the siege and the next year 3184 (586 BCE), the walls of Jerusalem were breached after many months of siege by Nebuchadnezzar and his Babylonian forces.

In Melachim II 21:7 we find that King Menashe, one of the worst of the Jewish kings, had an idol placed in the Holy Sanctuary of the Temple, according to tradition on this date. The Talmud, in Masechet Taanit 28b, says that in the time of the Roman persecution, Apostomos, captain of the occupation forces, did the same, and publicly burned the Torah - both acts considered open blasphemy and desecration. These were followed by Titus and Rome breaching the walls of Jerusalem in 3760 (70 CE) and Pope Gregory IX ordering the confiscation of all manuscripts of the Talmud in 4999 (1239). In later years this day continued to be a dark one for Jews. In 1391, more than 4,000 Jews were killed in Toledo and Jaen, Spain and in 4319 (1559) the Jewish Quarter of Prague was burned and looted.

The Kovno ghetto was liquidated on this day in 5704 (1944) and in 5730 (1970) Libya ordered the confiscation of Jewish property.

Other interesting occurrences on this day include Noach sending out the first dove to see if the Flood waters had receded, (Bereishit 8:8) in 1650 (2100 BCE); Moshe Rabbeinu destroying the golden calf, (Shemot 32:20, Seder Olam 6, Taanit 30b - Rashi) and then ascending back up Har Sinai for the second time where he spent the next forty days pleading for forgiveness for the sin of the golden calf, (Shemot 33:11, Rashi).

The Mishna in Ta'anit 4:8 associates the 17th of Tammuz as the "Fast of the Fourth Month" mentioned by the prophet Zechariah. According to this Mishna, the 17th of Tammuz will be transformed in the messianic era in a day that"shall be joy to the House of Judah" full of "gladness and cheerful feasts".

This day is the beginning of the Three Weeks, an annual period of mourning over the destruction of the first and second Temples in Jerusalem. [Followed by 7 weeks of consolation=10 weeks—philologos] (Following info on Tisha B'Av from http://www.ou.org) "Tisha B'Av is the saddest day on the Jewish calendar because of the incredible series of tragedies which occurred on that date throughout Jewish History."

The sin of the spies caused Hashem to decree that the Children of Israel who left Egypt would not be permitted to enter the land of Israel;
The first Temple was destroyed;
The second Temple was destroyed;
Betar, the last fortress to hold out against the Romans during the Bar Kochba revolt in the year 135, fell, sealing the fate of the Jewish people.
One year after the fall of Betar, the Temple area was plowed.
In 1492, King Ferdinand of Spain issued the expulsion decree, setting Tisha B'Av as the final date by which not a single Jew would be allowed to walk on Spanish soil.
World War I – which began the downward slide to the Holocaust – began on Tisha B’av.

They were convinced the date of the crucifixion was 33 AD, and not 30 AD, because records showed a solar eclipse, as depicted in the Bible at the time of Jesus' crucifixion, occurred in Jerusalem that year.

I think the Crucifixion was in 30 AD. The first year of Tiberius (Luke 3:1) rule over Israel was 12 AD, when he was Co-Rex with Augustus. The 15th year of Tiberius (Jewish inclusive reckoning) was 26 AD. Jesus was baptized near his 30th birthday (Luke 3:23), Tishri 1, 3786 (26 AD)..

The temple construction was begun in BC 19/20 (3742). Forty-six (John 2:20) years ( later (inclusive reckoning) was 27 AD, the first Passover of Jesus' ministry. That was Nisan 14, 3787, a Sabbatic Year (3787 divided by 7 = 541, with no remainder). The second Passover was Nisan 14, 3788. The third Passover was Nisan 14, 3789. The Crucifixion Passover was Nisan 14, 3790 (April 7, 30 AD). Since Jesus was crucified on the Preparation of the Passover, he was crucified on Nisan 13, 3790 (April 6, 30 AD).

There was no eclipse. The LORD wanted us to know that HE IS THE LIGHT OF THE WORLD. Therefore, there was darkness from noon to about 3 PM. What Solar eclipse lasts 3 hours? None.

Kerrod's Star Guide (p. 129) says, "The LONGEST any total eclipse can occur is theoretically about SEVEN-AND-A-HALF MINUTES. But over the next 50 years, it is predicted that the longest (in July 2009) will be 6 minutes 38 seconds. Most will be much shorter....For the total eclipse of July 11, 1991, eclipse-watchers--the author among them--descended on the Big Island of Hawaii in their thousands. At about 7.28 in the morning, the Sun went into total eclipse for the RELATIVELY LONG PERIOD OF 4 MINITES 12 SECONDS. The author witnessed the event...During totality, the sky is not completely dark. It is tinged orange on the horizon....Eclipse is total. Vivid prominences leap into view at 12 o'clock and 6 o'clock."

As the pictures of this show, the corona of the sun paints a white circle with an outer red/orange ring (author's photo), or just an orange ring, around the Moon. A total Solar Eclipse is unmistakable, because of the corona showing outside the circle of the Moon. Nothing like this was described in the Bible concerning the Crucifixion.

Of all people, "The pair, from the Astronomic Observatory Institute in Cluj, Romania" should know better. Mt. 27:45 says, "Now from the sixth hour there was darkness over all the land unto the ninth hour" (noon to 3 PM).

> > Possible start of Day of the Lord?

God said, "I will send you Elijah the prophet before the coming of the great and dreadful day of the LORD" (Mal. 4:5). Elijah will prophesy during the first half of the Tribulation (Rev. 11). The Day of the LORD will begin on the Day of God's Wrath.

> > I don't know if the above calculator takes into account the 10 days Pope Gregory chopped off in October 1582 (October 4th was followed by October 15th) to get the calendar back in line with equinoxes?

I don't know any calendar program that doesn't take this into consideration. If it didn't, the calendar would be pretty useless.

> > Going all the way back to Biblical times, Moses descended Mount Sinai on this day and, upon seeing the Golden Calf broke the first set of Tablets

Breaking two stone tablets prefigured the impact of two asteroids on the Day of God's Wrath (Rev. 8:8,10).

As for the Rapture, Dec. 17, 2004 is 2300 days (Dan. 8:13,14) before I expect the Second Advent on Nisan 1, 5771 (April 5, 2011). On Dec. 17, all five morning stars will "sing together," i.e., be present in the morning sky. Saturn (Heaven) will be up.

On Tamuz 17 and Av 10 (Jer. 52:12,13), the morning stars are not all visible. Saturn is going around the Sun and is not visible again until September. Agape

German archaeologists unearthed a trilingual stele from a temple at Bubastis, the eighth-century B.C. capital city of Egypt, that's being likened to the famed Rosetta Stone. The 2,200-year-old stele describes, in ancient Greek, Demotic, and hieroglyphic, planned changes to the Egyptian calendar (implemented 250 years later under Julius Caesar) and lauds then-ruler Ptolemy III for importing grain from other countries to stave off famine among his subjects. Archaeologists say Bubastis was most likely destroyed by an earthquake....
