Two Advents, two Raptures, and the Bride of Christ

By Marilyn Agee

Why was Eve taken out of the body of Adam instead of created out of clay like Adam? He was a type of Christ. She was a type of the Church, which is both part of the Body of Christ and the Bride of Christ. Why formed from a rib? The blood of Jesus Christ, our Redeemer, came from that area.

Christ is the head of his body the Church. Eph. 1:22,23 says, "And hath put all things under his feet, and gave him to be the HEAD over all things to the CHURCH, WHICH IS HIS BODY". In Hosea 12:10, the Lord said, "I have also spoken by the prophets, and I have multiplied visions, and used SIMILITUDES".

Like Adam, Jesus is the Bridegroom. John 3:29 says, "HE THAT HATH THE BRIDE IS THE BRIDEGROOM: but the friend of the bridegroom (John the Baptist), which standeth and heareth him, rejoiceth greatly because of the bridegroom's voice: this my joy therefore is fulfilled."

Jesus is the Lamb of God (John 1:29). Rev. 21:9 says, "there came unto me one of the seven angels which had the seven vials full of the seven last plagues, and talked with me, saying, Come hither, I will shew thee THE BRIDE, THE LAMB'S WIFE." Long ago, this part was played by Eve, a living, breathing bride.

In the Old Testament, God resided in the Tabernacle, and later, in the Temple. In the New Testament, God resides in the Church. Since we are the temple of the Holy Spirit, we are likened to a building that is a habitation of God.

Eph. 2:19-22 says, "Now therefore ye are no more strangers and foreigners, but fellowcitizens with the saints, and of the HOUSEHOLD of God; And are built upon the FOUNDATION of the apostles and prophets, Jesus Christ himself being the chief CORNER STONE; In whom all the BUILDING fitly framed together groweth unto an HOLY TEMPLE in the Lord: In whom YE ALSO ARE BUILDED TOGETHER FOR AN HABITATION OF GOD THROUGH THE SPIRIT."

This is teaching by similitude, for "God that made the world and all things therein, seeing that he is Lord of heaven and earth, dwelleth not in temples made with hands" (Acts 17:24). I Cor. 12:12 tells us that "the body is one, and hath many members, and all the members of that one body, being many, are one body."

In I Cor. 3:9-16, Paul said, "YE ARE GOD'S HUSBANDRY, YE ARE GOD'S BUILDING. According to the grace of God which is given unto me, as a wise masterbuilder, I have laid the foundation, and another buildeth thereon. But let every man take heed how he buildeth thereupon. For other foundation can no man lay than that is laid, which is Jesus Christ. Now if any man build upon this foundation gold, silver, precious stones, wood, hay, stubble; Every man's work shall be made manifest: for the day shall declare it, because it shall be revealed by fire; and the fire shall try every man's work of what sort it is. If any man's work abide which he hath built thereupon, he shall receive a reward. If any man's work shall be burned, he shall suffer loss: but he himself shall be saved; yet so as by fire. Know ye not that YE ARE THE TEMPLE OF GOD, and that the Spirit of God dwelleth in you?"

The Church is the ekklesia, the called-out body. Right away, this suggests that the Body of Christ is to be called out, raptured, gathered, caught up.

Just as many people living in Old Testament times failed to see that there were two comings of Christ, many people living in New Testament times fail to see that there are two Raptures. Both Raptures, the first and last trumps of God, are sandwiched between the First and Second Advents.

1st Advent, Tishri 1, 3757, Feast of Trumpets, probably Sept. 4/5, BC 5
1st Rapture, Pre-Trib, maybe Teveth 5, 5765, Fri., Dec. 17, 2004
2nd Rapture, Pre-Wrath, Trumpets, maybe Tishri 1, 5771, Thur. Sept. 9, 2010
2nd Advent, probably Nisan 1, 5771, Tue., Apr. 5, 2011

Referring to "general assembly" in Heaven (Heb. 12:23) on the day of the 2nd Rapture, Joel 2:16 says, "GATHER THE PEOPLE (i.e., the Tribulation saints), sanctify the congregation, assemble the elders, GATHER THE CHILDREN, and those that suck the breasts: let the BRIDEGROOM (Christ) go forth of his chamber, and the BRIDE (Bride of Christ) out of her closet."

Mark 13:27 says, "And then shall he send his angels, and shall GATHER together his elect from the four winds, from the uttermost part of the EARTH (the Rapture of the Tribulation saints) to the uttermost part of HEAVEN" (those caught up previously in the Pre-Trib Rapture).

Heb. 12:23 shows where the general assembly is located on the day of the Pre-Wrath Rapture. It says, "To the general assembly and church of the firstborn, which are written IN HEAVEN, and to God the Judge of all, and to the spirits of just men made perfect". They are made perfect that day.

I Cor. 15:52-53 says, "Behold, I shew you a mystery; We shall not all sleep, but we shall all be changed, In a moment, in the twinkling of an eye, at the last trump: for the trumpet shall sound, and the dead shall be raised incorruptible, and we shall be changed. For this corruptible must put on incorruption, and this mortal must put on immortality."

Here is an interesting development to watch for the creation of World Church:

1m Christians sign EU religion plea
By Ambrose Evans-Pritchard in Brussels

News Telegraph, 25/11/04 - More than a million people from all over Europe are to deliver a petition to Tony Blair and fellow EU leaders calling for changes to the constitution recognising Europe's Christian heritage.

Refusing to accept a secular "fait accompli" from Brussels, a Christian coalition is demanding that each EU state publish its version of the constitution's preamble, with references to God if desired.

Already armed with 1,149,000 signatures and with thousands more pouring in from Holland since the murder of the film-maker Theo van Gogh, the group claims that most states want some reference to Christianity but were blocked by France.

The move is keenly backed by Pope John Paul II, who has repeatedly condemned the "moral drift" of Brussels. "One does not cut the roots to one's birthright," he told pilgrims this summer....

My reply

Thanks. Hope you had a great holiday. We are thanking the Lord that he protected us and our son when he had to change a tire within 2 ft. of busy freeway traffic whizzing by. He said, "Don't think it isn't terrifying to have semi trucks whiz by at 2 feet."

The tread came off of the LR tire as we were going to our daughter's for Thanksgiving. That was the 2nd time the tread came off a tire on this car. We now realize that all four tires that came on our car were defective. Since we have now replaced all four, we realize that this is the first time we have had a smooth ride instead of a bumpy one in that car. I thought the suspension was just not as good as in our previous car, that we could feel the road more than before, but that wasn't the problem. The tires were causing the bumping that we noticed most when going slow. I think our Taurus should have been part of Ford's recall because of defective tires. Agape

"Catholics must develop concept of 'world Church"

Greater knowledge of ourselves and expanded understanding of others part of 21st-century mission

Similarly, we in the Church must be prepared to shed our Euro-American cultural and intellectual superiority, and become more "catholic" in the root sense of the word: namely, embracing the whole of human experience.

Karl Rahner first used the term "world Church," which is implicit in the very word "catholic." He stated in 1979 that "the Second Vatican Council is, in a rudimentary form, still groping for identity, the Church's first official self-actualization as a WORLD CHURCH."...

"Many in the West have not yet come to terms with the idea that Catholicism is shifting now to Asia and the Third World, and that the future world Church will not be dominated by western nations, but will be predominantly non-white, a coalition of a mixture of many races and cultures....

In the 21st century, therefore, we in the Church should not abandon the intellectual and cultural heritage of the Euro-American West; but we must be open to the intellectual, cultural and spiritual traditions, both written and oral, of Asia, Africa, Native America and Oceania....

Father Patrick Ryan, SJ, makes this point well in an excellent article in America magazine, titled "Sailing Beyond the Horizon: Challenges for the New Millennium": "[We] will have to become familiar with Buddhist traditions of meditation, varieties of Hindu thought about the relationship between human inferiority and the Absolutely Transcendent, African descriptions of what constitutes a human being and the factors that contribute to ideal governance, and Native American and Oceanic perceptions of human solidarity and nearness to the Divine....

Remember the words of Pope John Paul II

One-World Religion

...Heaven open to everyone, says Pope
Dec. 8, 2000 - The Roman Catholic Church was criticized for a document signed in September, in which it was stated that the way of salvation was "only in the unique and universal Catholic Apostolic Church." The Pope has now made an ammendment saying that Heaven is open to all as long as they are good.

He said at an audience that "all of the just on Earth, including those who ignore Christ and his Church" were "called upon to build the kingdom of God"....

Mystery Babylon

...Mystery Babylon of the future (Revelation 17) will be Apostate Religion - probably a union of world religions - which will give its power to Antichrist, and is thus seen as an adulterous woman (spiritually unfaithful to God) riding on the beast. It is not our intention to portray this woman simply as the Roman Catholic Church, but of non-believers from every denomination. Born-again believers from every church, including the Roman Catholic Church, will have been taken away at the Rapture, when Christ returns for His Bride, the true church. It is possible that a future Pope could lead this alliance, and that some of the extra-biblical doctrines of Catholicism could be involved in the imagry of Revelation 17.

Incoming email, Re: Bride of Christ

Read Joe's post entitled "Body of Christ or Bride of Christ". Appears this is an old (1997) post but want to address it anyway.

Did you ever read Revelation 21:9, 10? How do you resolve the issue of a direct statement as to Whom the Bride is, i.e. the New Jerusalem and not the Church.

Just so you get your figures correct, also, the Bible says Noah was 600 years old when the flood waters came. But you said that Noah knew 120 years before the flood that it was going to rain. Are you trying to say that timeframe of Genesis 6:3 was 120 years?

Lastly, where does it say in Genesis that God created the sun on the 4th day? From Tulsa

My reply

> > Did you ever read Revelation 21:9, 10? How do you resolve the issue of a direct statement as to Whom the Bride is, i.e. the New Jerusalem and not the Church.

Yes. I've read every part of the Bible. A lot of it is symbolic. When Jesus said that he is the bright and morning star, we don't assume that he is a literal star. He lives on a bright and morning star. That is demonstrated when he told the overcomers, "I will give him the morning star" (Rev. 2:28).

If we want to know who will end up living in New Jerusalem, we might have to figure out what the symbolism indicates. In Rev. 3:12, Jesus said, "Him that overcometh will I make a pillar in the temple of my God, and he shall go no more out: and I will write upon him the name of my God, and THE NAME OF THE CITY OF MY GOD, WHICH IS NEW JERUSALEM, which cometh down out of heaven from my God: and I will write upon him my new name."

Rev. 21:2 says, "I John saw the HOLY CITY, NEW JERUSALEM, coming down from God out of heaven, prepared as (as and like are symbolic language) a bride adorned (kosmeo, to polish, adorn, i.e., be clean and dressed in white) for her husband."

Rev. 19:7,8 says, "Let us be glad and rejoice, and give honour to him: for the marriage of the Lamb is come, and his wife (the Bride of Christ) hath made herself ready. And to her (the Bride) was granted that she should be arrayed in fine linen, CLEAN AND WHITE: for the fine linen is the righteousness (lit., righteousnesses, including Christ's righteousness imputed to us and our righteous acts performed when we are filled with his Holy Spirit) of SAINTS (the individuals collectively known as the Bride of Christ).

Who will be in New Jerusalem? On the gates we find the names of the 12 tribes of Israel. On the foundation of the wall, we find the names of the 12 apostles (Rev. 20:12-14). Together, they are the 24 elders of Rev. 4:4, our representatives before the throne of God. That shows us that both Old Testament and New Testament saints will be in the heavenly New Jerusalem. They are now one body.

Eph. 2:13-16 says, "But now in Christ Jesus ye who sometimes were far off are made nigh by the blood of Christ. For he is our peace, who hath made both one, and hath broken down the middle wall of partition between us; Having abolished in his flesh the enmity, even the law of commandments contained in ordinances; for to make in himself of twain one new man, so making peace; And that he might reconcile both unto God in ONE BODY by the cross, having slain the enmity thereby."

> > Just so you get your figures correct, also, the Bible says Noah was 600 years old when the flood waters came. But you said that Noah knew 120 years before the flood that it was going to rain. Are you trying to say that timeframe of Genesis 6:3 was 120 years?

Why do I get the feeling that you have not yet accepted Jesus Christ as your own personal Saviour? Your questions sound much like the unbeliever's stock in trade.

Gen. 6:3 makes it plain that man's "days shall be an hundred and twenty years."

"And God said unto Noah, The end of all flesh is come before me; for the earth is filled with violence through them; and, behold, I will destroy them with the earth. Make thee an ark of gopher (cypress) wood; rooms shalt thou make in the ark, and shalt pitch it within and without with pitch...And, behold, I, even I, do bring a FLOOD OF WATERS UPON THE EARTH, to destroy all flesh, wherein is the breath of life, from under heaven, and every thing that is in the earth shall die." (Gen. 6:13,17).

Only 8 people were saved. The rest died. According to the rate of population growth, it has been shown that man did start with 8 in the days of Noah. We are facing the catastrophe when unbelievers will be the only ones left on Earth when the asteroids of Rev. 8:8 and 10 impact Earth. Do you want to be here then?

II Peter 3:3-7 says, " there shall come in the last days scoffers, walking after their own lusts, And saying, Where is the promise of his coming? for since the fathers fell asleep, all things continue as they were from the beginning of the creation. For this they willingly are ignorant of, that by the word of God the heavens were of old, and the earth standing out of the water and in the water: Whereby THE WORLD THAT THEN WAS, BEING OVERFLOWED WITH WATER, PERISHED: But the heavens and the earth, which are now, by the same word are kept in store, RESERVED UNTO FIRE AGAINST THE DAY OF JUDGMENT AND PERDITION OF UNGODLY MEN."

> > Lastly, where does it say in Genesis that God created the sun on the 4th day?

It doesn't, because he didn't create the Sun on the 4th day. Literally, Genesis 1:1 says that in the beginning, God created (bara) the heavens and the earth. That includes the Sun and Moon that finally became visible later as the mist cleared.

"Bara" is the word for original creation. It is only used for three things in the early account, for the original creation, for the creation of animal life, and for the creation of man. Everything else, God made out of existing materials, so he used "asah," (made) instead of "bara" (create). Scripture is God breathed, and God knew what he was doing. He said it right.

Gen. 1:16 says, "And God made (asah, arranged out of existing materials) two great lights; the greater light to rule the day, and the lesser light to rule the night". The thick clouds that caused the darkness in verse 2, had dispersed enough for the Sun and Moon to be seen by the 4th day.

If you are not a believer, you might want to read John 3:16. It tells us how to be saved. It says, "For God so loved the world, that he gave his only begotten Son, that whosoever believeth in him should not perish, but have everlasting life."

Rom. 10:9 says, "That if thou shalt confess with thy mouth the Lord Jesus, and shalt believe in thine heart that God hath raised him from the dead, thou shalt be saved. For with the heart man believeth unto righteousness; and with the mouth confession is made unto salvation."

"But without faith, it is impossible to please him: for he that cometh to God must believe that he is, and that he is a rewarder of them that diligently seek him" (Heb. 11:6).

If you are a believer, you might want to read I John 1:9. It tells us how to be sure our garments are white. It says, "If we confess our sins, he is faithful and just to forgive us our sins, and to cleanse us from all unrighteousness." The Bride wears white.

If you are a believer, and want to be filled with His Holy Spirit, you might want to read II Peter 1:4-11, "that by these ye might be partakers of the DIVINE NATURE, having escaped the corruption that is in the world through lust." He mentions adding to your faith virtue, knowledge, temperance, patience, godliness, brotherly kindness and God's kind of love, "agape," translated as "charity" in the KJV. "For if these things be in you, and abound, they make you that ye shall neither be barren nor unfruitful in the knowledge of our Lord Jesus Christ. But he that lacketh these things is blind, and cannot see afar off (i.e., Heaven), and hath forgotten that he was purged from his old sins (when he first accepted Christ). Wherefore the rather, brethren (believers), give diligence to make your calling AND election sure: for if ye do these things, ye shall never fall: For so an entrance shall be ministered unto you abundantly into the everlasting kingdom of our Lord and Saviour Jesus Christ."

There is a Rapture coming, when Jesus will catch up to Heaven the Bride of Christ. Remember, the Bride wears white. Those foolish believers that get left behind at the first Rapture will have "washed their robes, and made them white in the blood of the Lamb" by the time of the Rapture of the Tribulation saints. However, at that time, only the 144,000 Israelites will be added to the Bride group, "for they are without fault before the throne of God" (Rev. 7:1-14; 14:3-5). Agape

Pope marks 20th anniversary of assassination attempt, publ. 14-May-01

...On 13 May 1981, Turkish activist Mehmet Ali Agca knocked the Pope down with a bullet, while the Holy Father was standing in an open popemobile in St Peter's Square. The seriously wounded Pope was rushed to Rome's Gemelli Hospital, where much of his intestine was removed.

That fateful day was THE FEAST OF THE VIRGIN OF FATIMA. The Holy Father is convinced that the Blessed Virgin saved his life. He said on 13 May 1994: "A maternal hand guided the bullet's path, and an agonising Pope stood at the threshold of death."...

On 13 May last year, the Holy Father beatified the two shepherds who witnessed Mary's apparitions in Portugal. On that occasion, Cardinal Angelo Sodano, Vatican secretary of state, REVEALED THAT THE THIRD SECRET OF FATIMA FORETOLD THE WHITE FIGURE OF THE BISHOP OF ROME FALLING BEFORE HIS ENEMIES.... Zenit

Assassination attempt on the Pope

May 13th, Pope John Paul II was shot four times...

The third part of the secret revealed at the Cova da Iria-Fatima, on 13 July 1917.

I write in obedience to you, my God, who command me to do so through his Excellency the Bishop of Leiria and through your Most Holy Mother and mine.

After the two parts which I have already explained, at the left of Our Lady and a little above, we saw an Angel with a flaming sword in his left hand; flashing, it gave out flames that looked as though they would set the world on fire; but they died out in contact with the splendour that Our Lady radiated towards him from her right hand: pointing to the earth with his right hand, the Angel cried out in a loud voice: ‘Penance, Penance, Penance!'. And we saw in an immense light that is God: ‘something similar to how people appear in a mirror when they pass in front of it' a Bishop dressed in White ‘we had the impression that it was the Holy Father'. Other Bishops, Priests, men and women Religious going up a steep mountain, at the top of which there was a big Cross of rough-hewn trunks as of a cork-tree with the bark; before reaching there the Holy Father passed through a big city half in ruins and half trembling with halting step, afflicted with pain and sorrow, he prayed for the souls of the corpses he met on his way; having reached the top of the mountain, on his knees at the foot of the big Cross he was killed by a group of soldiers who fired bullets and arrows at him, and in the same way there died one after another the other Bishops, Priests, men and women Religious, and various lay people of different ranks and positions. Beneath the two arms of the Cross there were two Angels each with a crystal aspersorium in his hand, in which they gathered up the blood of the Martyrs and with it sprinkled the souls that were making their way to God.

My OUTGOING E-MAIL, Re: Bride of Christ

I'm sure glad you are a believer and a member of the church. I hope you are also a member of the Bride of Christ, the wise virgins that will go with Christ the Bridegroom when he comes for us at the Pre-Trib Rapture.

> > (Marilyn, I did not ask who will be in the New Jerusalem but rather Who IS The New Jerusalem in the light of Rev 21:9, 10? Also, yes, you are correct that the OT and NT saints will be IN the heavenly New Jerusalem. That is the point. They are residents rather than the City which is the Bride!)

Mt. 25:6-10 says, "at midnight there was a cry made, Behold, the BRIDEGROOM (CHRIST) cometh; go ye out to meet him. Then all those VIRGINS arose, and trimmed their lamps. And the foolish said unto the wise, Give us of your oil (i.e., oil of the 'Spirit of Christ,' Rom. 8:9); for our lamps are gone out (lit., going out). But the wise answered, saying, Not so; lest there be not enough for us and you: but go ye rather to them that sell, and buy for yourselves. And while they went to buy, THE BRIDEGROOM (CHRIST) CAME; AND THEY (the wise virgins, not a city) THAT WERE READY WENT IN WITH HIM TO THE MARRIAGE: and the door was shut."

Rev. 19:7,8 says, "Let us be glad and rejoice, and give honour to him: for the MARRIAGE OF THE LAMB is come, and HIS WIFE HATH MADE HERSELF READY. And to her was granted that she should be arrayed in fine linen, clean and white: for the fine linen is the righteousness of SAINTS." The wife is all the individual saints that are wearing white garments.

Isa. 62:5 says, "as a young man marrieth a virgin, so shall thy sons marry thee: and as the bridegroom rejoiceth over the bride, so shall thy God rejoice over thee."

> > (Where does it say in the Bible that individuals are "collectively known as the Bride of Christ? That is your tradition coming through, not the Bible!)

Eph. 5:25-32 says, "Husbands, love your wives, even as Christ also loved the church, and gave himself for it; That he might sanctify and cleanse it with the washing of water by the word, That he might present it to himself a glorious church, not having spot, or wrinkle, or any such thing; but that it should be holy and without blemish. So ought men to love their wives as their own bodies. He that loveth his wife loveth himself. For no man ever yet hated his own flesh; but nourisheth and cherisheth it, even as the Lord the church: For WE ARE MEMBERS OF HIS BODY, OF HIS FLESH, AND OF HIS BONES. For this cause shall a man leave his father and mother, and shall be joined unto his wife, and they two shall be one flesh. THIS IS A GREAT MYSTERY: BUT I SPEAK CONCERNING CHRIST AND THE CHURCH."

> > (Are you saying that "man's age is going to be 120 years" or "Noah preached for 120 years" or what? If the flood came when Noah was 600 years old (Gen 7:6) and he preached 120 years prior to it coming, then Noah was 480 years old when God talked to him. Thus, The timeframe of Gen 6:3 is 120 years before the flood. Right?)

> > (Actually, the Bible says, "heaven". It is not plural. Was it really a "mist"? Chapter and verse?)

Green's Interlinear says, "In the beginning God created the HEAVENS and the earth." Clouds are made up of mist. Gen. 2:6 says, "But there went up a mist from the earth, and watered the whole face of the ground."

> > (Whatever it was that caused the darkness in verse 2 "moved by God" to allow the Sun to again do its work as it had originally)

> > (Not to worry. I have a place reserved already. I'm just happy you recognize Jesus as the "the only begotten Son" rather the "one and only"!)

Oh, I know he is the one and only ok. He is both YHWH King of Israel and YHWH of hosts the Redeemer. Isa. 44:6 says, "Thus saith the LORD (YHWH) the King of Israel, and his redeemer the LORD (YHWH) of hosts; I am the first (YHWH King of Israel), and I am the last (YHWH of hosts the Redeemer); AND BESIDE ME THERE IS NO GOD."

II Cor. 5:19 says, "God was in Christ, reconciling the world unto himself".

> > (There is indeed a "catching away" or rapture coming but it will not be for His Bride but rather for believers in Jesus as their Savior. That is your problem. You are mixing inhabitants of a place with the place, i.e. the New Jerusalem.)

It is the inhabitants of New Jerusalem that are the Bride. If we are talking basketball, and I say LA won, surely you would think that the Lakers won, not the city of Los Angeles, an inanimate object. Agape
