Well some of us may feel like we have just been left standing at the altar. The last three weeks or so have seen several anticipated dates come and go. The natural reaction for some might be to pack it all up. Let us not forget that although our understanding was in err, that in know way should it take away what we most assuredly know.WE ARE IN THE SEASON! The rapidly changing events occuring around the world are unmistakeable. All the pieces are being moved in to place. Many that write to you seem to be aware of this. This year we have seen (and can see coming) more changes that are obviously signs of Biblical prophecy unfolding before our very eyes. Keep WATCHING!

Re: Delay!
Thank you so much, Mrs. Agee, for answering my e-mail. It is an honor that you have replied to me...I can't tell you how much I admire you and wish to thank you for all the research and hard work you've done. I also want to thank you for your unwavering strength in the face of disappointment and your determination to stand in the gap and direct and focus all of us who have been looking to you for direction and understanding. I pray for you that the Lord will continue to uphold you and reveal to you things which He wants us to know. I will continue to visit your website as long as we are here - and I look forward to when we get to glory that I may personally thank you and fellowship with you there! In Jesus' precious and Holy Name, HERE, THERE OR IN THE AIR Your Sister in Christ

I don't think you addressed my second question. If you count all things by inclusive reckoning as you have done to arrive at the beginning of the Tribulation (2300 days), would'nt we be at 1999 for the rapture? 2001,2000,1999.= 3 inclusive years. You keep saying 4 years but the Parable of the Barren Fig Tree says...these 3 years. It seems a stretch to use 2 different methods of calculating God's word, Don't you think? Please reply.

My reply

Here is the parable of the barren fig tree. Luke 13:6-9 says, "He spake also this parable: A certain man (Jesus Christ) had a fig tree (Israel) planted in his vineyard; and he came (i.e., at the Rapture) and sought fruit thereon, and found none. Then said he unto the dresser of his vineyard, Behold, these three years (5758, 5759, 5760) I come seeking fruit on this fig tree, and find none: cut it down; why cumbereth it the ground? And he answering said unto him, Lord, let it alone THIS YEAR ALSO (5761), till I shall dig about it, and dung it: And if it bear fruit, well (I think the Tribulation would not happen in that case): and if not, then after that (the four years, figured by Jewish inclusive reckoning, where the first year is counted as number one) thou shalt cut it down" (i.e., the Tribulation).

The way we figure, this is 3 years. Example: the Six-Day War started June 5 and ended June 10, 1967. We would say 10 - 5 = 5, but to the Jews, this lasted 6 days, June 5, 6, 7, 8, 9, 10. They count the first day as number one. We say that from the 5th day to the 6th day is day one. It is sort of like they count the days, we count the spaces. Hope this helps.

I sent you an email on May 29 my time (which I think would correspond to May 28 your time). The subject line was "Bible prophecy". I didn't get a reply and I don't think it has appeared in your "Pro Con" pages.

I was just wondering if you did indeed receive it. I'm guessing that you didn't publish it in Pro Con because it highlights the weaknesses of the Pre-trib doctrine. I'm confused, however, as you have published other letters that hold contrary views to yours, so why not mine?

I'm not trying to attack you. I'm just interested in the truth. Hope to hear from you.
May 28. I've just been browsing your web pages on Bible prophecy. You are obviously someone who has a great love for the Lord and his Word. I'm also quite interested in Bible prophecy, although I haven't spent nearly the amount of time in study as you have.

Since you encourage readers to email you, I thought I'd write and share a few thoughts.

I used to believe in the pre-tribulation rapture, but a few years ago I was really challenged to re-evaluate my beliefs based on the plain teaching of Scripture. After grappling with this whole area I had to honestly face up to the fact that the pre-trib doctrine is something that is not plainly taught in the Bible. Rather, one has to be taught this doctrine and only then do they interpret the relevant scriptures to fit with the pre-trib view.

Have you investigated the pre-wrath view at all? I believe this is the most scriptural end-time view. Everything fits together so much more naturally. The main points are that the Church will go through a time of persecution in the last days (as clearly taught in Daniel, the Olivet discourse and Revelation), then Jesus returns cutting short the tribulation ("If those days had not been cut short, no one would survive, but for the sake of the elect those days will be shortened" Matt 24:22) at which point the Rapture occurs. This is then followed by the outpouring of God's wrath on the wicked and unbelieving world. The classical passages describing the return of the Lord and the rapture in Matt 24:30-31,37-42, 1 Thes 4:13-18, and 1 Cor 15:51-55 therefore all refer to different aspects of the same event. The pre-trib teaching that some of these passages refer to the rapture, and others to the second coming (ie to different events) introduces unnecessary complexities which to me just dont sit right.

The scriptures clearly teach that Christians will be saved from the wrath of God (Rom 5:9; 1 Thes 1:10, 5:9). They do not, however, teach that we will be taken home before tribulation. This, I believe, is a fundamental problem with the pre-trib view: it confuses tribulation with God's wrath. No-where in Scripture is the outpouring of God's wrath on the day of the Lord equated with the "tribulation period". Neither is Daniel's 70th week equated with the great tribulation. True, the tribulation is PART of the 70th week, but that's all. The tribulation will effectively be the time of Satan's wrath, not God's. God promises to be with us during that time, and Jesus will return to cut short the tribulation, but it is nevertheless something the church will go through.

We also read in 2 Thes 2:1-3 that "the coming of our Lord Jesus Christ and our being gathered to him" (ie the Rapture) wont take place until after "the man of lawlessness" (ie the Antichrist) is revealed. This clearly contradicts the pre-trib view which teaches that the Antichrist wont rise to power until after the Rapture has taken place.

Regarding your teaching that there will in fact be two raptures: doesn't this ring warning bells? Doesn't this strike you as introducing further complexities that can't be supported from the plain teaching of Jesus?...

Well I hope you take this email in the right spirit. It is certainly not my intention to judge you as a person. But I do hope that when June 1 rolls around and you discover that the rapture didn't take place as expected, you will at least give some thought to the above issues. God bless.

My reply

Sorry. I have a mountain of email that I haven't a hope of getting answered. It is way over what is possible in the hours we have in a day. Forgive me. I just have to do the best I can. I work on it every moment I can. I do have to sleep and eat once in awhile. I send 5 answers and get 15 more emails, etc. Anyway, I looked back and found yours.

I haven't time to do it justice, but I firmly believe that there are two Raptures, one in Rev. 4:1 and one indicated in Rev. 7:14. The first is Pre-Trib, the second Pre-Wrath. Between them is Rev. 6. It starts with the beginning of the Tribulation and ends with "the great day of his wrath is come."

The second Rapture takes place between the opening of the sixth seal in Rev. 6:12 and the opening of the seventh seal in Rev. 8.

In 2 Thes 2:1-3, the Greek work "apostasia" means departing. It is the Rapture, and it has to take place before the man of sin is revealed.

Thank you. I just wanted to thank you for all the hard work you've done. I am however, a little disappointed that Jesus did not return. This would have been perfect timing for me. I'm the only one in my little town, I think, that believes that Jesus will be back very soon. My husband called me a fanatic, and is threatening divorce. I will not give up Jesus for him, but it is so, so hard. Saturday night, I went to bed just full of the Holy Spirit. I was really communicating to God and could hear Him speak to my heart. However, I woke up Monday morning feeling so out of place and could feel the attck from Satan. It is still continuing today, and I feel so hopeless. I don't want to be "sifted", but it feels as if satan is "demanding" it. I was just wondering if you have gotten any ohter letters from people feeling the same way lately. BTW, I came across you're website a couple of months ago and it has changed my life. I had no idea that Jesus' return could be so near. I do now. I feel in my heart that God led me to your website. Thank you so much for your hard work and effort. I don't know if you realize how much you mean to all of us. God bless you ten-fold.

My reply

It is very likely that we are being sifted.

THIRD WATCH As you may well know, I was very depressed after the Rapture didn't happen on May 31. In my heart, I didn't feel it would happen on June 7 either. But get a load of this!!

Luke 12:
37 Blessed are those servants, whom the lord when he cometh shall find watching: verily I say unto you, that he shall gird himself, and make them to sit down to meat, and will come forth and serve them.
38 And if he shall come in the second watch, or COME IN THE THIRD WATCH and find them so, blessed are those servants.

Is it possible that the first watch was 5/31/98, the second watch was 6/7/98, we are now in the third watch? I know the usual interpretation is that the third watch is from 1-3 AM. Is there something we should be looking into here? God bless you

My reply

I think you have a good point there. Mt. 24:43 says, "But know this, that if the goodman (pastor) of the house (church) had known in WHAT WATCH the thief would come, he would have watched, and would not have suffered his house to be broken up."

Noah sent out a dove in Gen. 8 (dove = symbol of the Holy Spirit). She "found no rest for the sole of her foot (not feet, one foot, like one foot of the Body of Christ). "And he stayed yet other seven days" (v.10), then sent her again. This time she returned with an olive leaf. "And he stayed yet other seven days" (v. 12). This time she flew away and found rest for the sole of her foot.

When he sent the dove the first time, "he sent forth a raven, which went forth TO AND FRO, until the waters were dried up from off the earth." Does this suggest Satan being allowed to test us in a sieve as wheat? In Job 1:7 Satan said he had come "From going TO AND FRO IN THE EARTH."

Hang in there. This may be a test, a separating the wise from the foolish. Stay strong and stay ready no matter how long it takes.

Thanks for all the hard work and effort that you have put into your pages. I am personally more swayed to the post-trib/pre-wrath type line of interpretation of the end times, but have been following your pages daily with a hope that maybe the 31May/7June dates were correct and I encourage all pre-trib believers in that, yes there may still be another 7 day waiting period.

I'm not too keen on date setting, but do believe that all people within the Body of Christ have a purpose in the way in which they believe and perform in the Body. The one thing that I would like to share is that although we all may have differing thoughts and hopes concerning the end times, the one thing that must be maintained is our common blood-line in Christ.

We have a wonderful God and Savior with a plan and vision for all His children. Proverbs 29:18 says "Where there is no vision the people perish." This is of utmost importance, we must hold strong in our vision that the time is near and not allow our earth bound attempts and hopes of specific dates lure us away from the ultimate vision that, yes indeed we will be raptured. Some possible dates have come and gone - so what !!! - We may not have a cast in concrete date for our future, but we can all agree that we know who holds that future.

So to all who may read your pages, don't let the issues around the dates of when the Lord will return distract you from the reality of who it is we are all waiting for. It is the Lord Jesus who will return - keep your eyes on Him above all else. The Lord has indeed worked through your pages and in peoples hearts to highlight the urgency of the times we live in. If our Lord has spoken to you, Marilyn to continue with your work in highlighting more possible future dates, then let no one cast any stone.

We all,so often become fools for the Lord when we step out in an act of faith, but we know that it's worth it to rather be a fool for the Lord than to perish for not having taken that step.

The most striking thing about the past couple of days has been the response from most of the brothers and sisters in Christ. I'm sure our Lord has been looking at how so many have responded to the missed dates and is proud to call you His children. It's great to be part of a family that pulls together even when things don't work out as we have hoped or planned for. I'm sure we'll all look back one day on these times and have a good old laugh at how things will have worked out.

Let's be assured that our Lord's perfect plan will work out soon and so when we all meet in glory, and see things clearly we'll appreciate these past number of days knowing that they have drawn us closer to each other and closer to our Lord.

Back, and still seeking! (Jim Bramlett)

Well, Jesus didn't return as hoped, but I returned -- from France last night. Had a wonderful time with my son, tracing my father's World War II infantry battle route from the beaches of Normandy. The reminder of the great sacrifices of the Allied American, British and Canadian forces was deeply touching. In perspective now, I can see how God used this to not only liberate Europe from the demon-possessed Hitler, but to set in motion the rebirth of Israel, a vital link in God's end-time plan. Unknowingly, they were instruments of Christ's return!

It was my first trip to France. What a neat, beautiful country. The people seemed very friendly. The food, of course, is legendary. I handed out many French-language gospel tracts I had ordered and taken with me. Everyone seemed grateful for it. Sadly, France is a land of great spiritual darkness. Only 0.5 percent are evangelical Christians, and it is the least religious nation in Europe (46 percent), and after Catholicism, Islam is the 2nd religion. These dear people need Jesus and do not even know it. Yet.

While driving along a country road in Normandy a week ago I was wondering about the rapture and how the evidence for the May 31, 1998 date put forth by several astute Bible students could have been wrong. It still seems to me that the Biblical evidence is extremely strong that God's full plan and timing are revealed in His Word, and some, or someone, will know, as the Holy Spirit gives revelation.

While meditating, a thought suddenly flashed across my mind. I cannot tell you that it was from the Lord. We can only wait and see. The thought was this:

Of the various arguments for a Pentecost 1998 rapture, Jack Langford's was very, very intriguing to me. He did an excellent, scholarly job of paralleling Christ's holocaust, then resurrection 3 DAYS later, then birth of the church 50 DAYS later, with the holocaust of the Jews ending in 1945, then their national resurrection 3 YEARS later, then, to complete the pattern, the removal of the church 50 YEARS later, on the Day of Pentecost, he believed. (A "must read" at

The thought that flashed through my mind last week was that to be consistent with the other day/year parallels, the whole 50th YEAR had to be treated as one day. Yes, the 50th (Pentecost) year may be the year of the church's removal, but not necessarily on the Day of Pentecost. If the 50th year is treated as a day, then if we can determine at what hour of the day on the first century Day of Pentecost that the church born, we may know when, or about when, the removal of the church will take place.

We know it was the "third hour" (9 a.m., or slightly before, to allow the crowds to gather). If we count proportionately through the year as to where the third hour would fall, starting from May 14 and not May 31, we may have it. I have not calculated it carefully as I am confused as to the third hour actually being the 15th hour from the day's beginning on the previous sundown; however, I am sure there is a simple answer. The "third hour" may, indeed, land in June-August. If so, I wonder if perhaps the season might still qualify for the rapture conditions of Song of Solomon 2:10-13. If not, then the Feast of Trumpets rapture crowd may yet be correct. Needs further study.

If there is anything to this, then those who called for a Pentecost 1998 rapture were in a sense correct, but did not see the whole year 1998 as the Pentecost year/day, on which it would fall.

It's good to be back. Keep watching, with no let-up and with ever-increasing intensity!

I remain, incurably seeking, Jim

Hello, Marilyn. God's Blessings to you and your family.

More commendations are due you because of your tenacity, and for not being afraid to "take a stand" (especially evident with specifying a second expected date). I would like to say a word to any detractors out there. Thank God there aren't as many as you expected. I share your joy that the Bride is more mature than once thought.

Of course, you may post any part of this, or NONE of it, as you see fit:

There is nothing at all wrong with speculating about possible dates for our departure. We were exhorted 23 times by the Master to WATCH. Anyone who has served a watch in the middle of the night while in the military will agree: many times the lookout will think He sees something, only to find that it was nothing. It is a normal part of standing a watch. That doesn't mean the NEXT time it will be a false alarm! Besides, M.J. Agee has never "raised the alarm" by stating that, beyond ALL DOUBT, "THIS is the date". She has always and repeatedly reminded us that she is not a prophet, and that we need to search the scriptures for ourselves. Have we studied and worked as tirelessly as she, for 30 years and more? Unless so, then I submit that we have no right to criticize.

Please, let's continue to STAND WATCH, tell others, and stay ready... with each day we all learn more. There is no shame in being vigilent for the Master's return!

John 14:1-3:
"LET NOT (we have a choice) YOUR HEART BE TROUBLED; you believe in God, believe also in Me. In My Father's house are many mansions; if it were not so, I would have told you. I go to prepare a place for you. And if I go and prepare a place for you, I will come again and recieve you to Myself; that where I am, there you may be also."

Hi Chris,

I'm really glad that I saw the email you sent to Marilyn Agee. The Bible predicts that in the last days there will be scoffers, just like you. The Bible is truth and God is perfect and you have fulfilled prophecy! It has brought great joy to me to know that this event is another sign that Christ is near. The Bible prophecies are always accurate, all the time. How much time have you spent doing Bible study ? I dare you to study the Bible and prove it wrong. Just because you don't believe God exists, it doesn't mean He isn't there. It means that you have not found Him yet. I see my Creator's touch everywhere in the Universe, the beauty of nature, the cry of a new baby, the love of a neighbor. You will have to prove He doesn't exist.

Holy Father, I lift Chris up to You. Please open his heart, mind and soul so that he knows Your love and saving grace. Help him to break lose from satan's hold, so he can release the hate and anger he feels toward You. In Jesus name I pray. Amen.

Dear Marilyn,
What a precious prayer you prayed for Chris Nelson! There will probably be hundreds of people who will lift him up to the Father, and I am one of them. And in the name of the Lord Jesus Christ, we command Satan to release him from the kingdom of darkness, and Father, we ask You to draw him into the glorious light of Your salvation. And may he have the power to understand how wide, how long, how high, and how deep God's love for him really is. May he experience the love of Christ, and be filled with the fullness of life and power that comes from God. Amen.

Indefinite delay

Your work is awesome. We are the virgins who went out to meet the groom. Will we slumber while He delays? Some will, but I will pray each day for a full lamp of the oil of the Spirit to continue in His service and be busy doing His will and His work until He comes.

I searched the scriptures for delay, tarry, linger and slumber. There are quite a few references, most without reference to specific time periods. Moses delayed 40 days on Mt. Sinai (which caused Israel to "slumber" into sin). But I am becoming more convinced that although we can know the season "in such an hour as ye think not the Son of man cometh." (Mat 24:44)

So now it is more difficult to prepare for our departure at a specific time. This means that one cannot withdraw money from the bank and a lot of other things in anticipation of a day and hour. That must be how the Lord wants it! But no doubt it will be soon, for although He delays He does not slumber! In His love

Lucky Dowling, June 8, 1998, Greetings to all,

In my article, "1997 - Running Out of Time," I said the following:

There are no prophecies given in Scripture that directly reveal the time of the Rapture. For that we must consider other information. The Lord has specifically hidden the time of the Rapture from all but Himself --UNTIL--the time of the end when knowledge of end time events would be revealed and increased when only the wise will understand .

It has always been a risky proposition at best to base doctrine upon TYPES and SHADOWS, rather than the plain and obvious statements of Scripture. It is better to use them to confirm doctrine rather than to teach it. Yet the Scripture does say that, "whatsoever things were written aforetime [in the Old Testament] were written for our learning..." . And again, "Now all these things happened unto them for ensamples [TUPOS: G5179; Œtypes'] and they are written for our admonition, upon whom the ends of the world are come." We are to learn from what God has revealed to us through them. Hidden in Scripture are sacred secrets that are likenesses or duplicates of things that have happened before. History repeats itself by the Lord's design. Some future events are almost carbon copies of past events. Each is a mirror of the other.

I have long believed that the Jewish holidays of Scripture have a symbolic value, A DEEPER MEANING AND SIGNIFICANCE than just their face value. The spring and fall festivals given to Israel in Leviticus chapter 23 contain many, if not all of the major events on God's prophetic calendar. If we can just understand them correctly...

... Is it significant or just coincidence that the NEXT PENTECOST SUNDAY--the 50th year since Israel's rebirth in 1948-- and also their First Jubilee since 1948--will take place on: SIVAN 6, 5758 -- our May 31, 1998?

It this the one... or do we look for another year? We will soon find out. Time will soon tell who is READY and who is not, who is taken and who is left, who it right and who is wrong! ...

Well, the time as stated above has come and gone and we are all still here, and our Lord did not come then as we hoped and expected Him to. When we heard of another different date for the Greek Orthodox observance of the Day of Pentecost one week later on Sunday June 7, 1998 we again took hope. Now that date has also come and gone.

While we acknowledged from the very beginning that the Lord did not tell us directly that He would come as suggested above, it nevertheless appeared to us to be clearly probable and possible--the best that we have ever seen in the Word of God. Scripture is true even if our understanding is faulty. Who is it that has everything absolutely right? Only God Himself! I nevertheless take full and complete responsibility for my faulty understanding. I still believe that we are living in the "time of the end" of this present Age. That hasn't changed at all! Jesus Christ is still coming back again! Just because He did not come when we expected him to DOES NOT MEAN THAT HE IS NOT COMING BACK AGAIN!!! I refuse to give up my BLESSED HOPE! He is still my LORD and SAVIOR and nothing can ever change that.

The Scripture comes to mind in Luke 12:40 where Jesus says:

"Be ye therefore ready also: for the Son of man cometh at an hour WHEN YE THINK NOT."

The parallel passage in Matthew 24:44 also says:

"Therefore be ye also ready: for in such an hour AS YE THINK NOT the Son of man cometh."

That seems to indicate WHEN HE COMES IT WILL BE AT A TIME WHEN HE IS NOT EXPECTED TO COME. It will be when you do not anticipate it. When He comes it will be when you think not--or don't think He would come--unexpectedly--so be ready at all times. Since we don't know for sure exactly when that will be STAY READY ALWAYS! The Lord simply has a different plan that He is operating on than what man is anticipating.

The real message has always been and still is BE READY FOR HIM WHENEVER HE COMES, not just when we think He may come. While the understandings of all regarding His Word may sometimes be faulty--His Word NEVER is!

The message still is: The "time of the end" of the Age is NOW, and the Rapture is IMMINENT!
I still believe that the next great event on God's prophetic calendar is the Rapture of the Church.

This has been a much needed wake up call for many. Did you wake up because you were just afraid you were going to be left behind and go into the coming Tribulation period?--or because you really love Him? Stay awake and stay READY till He comes--whenever that is! Even though you and I do not know exactly when to expect Him to come--Keep looking for His Coming by staying ready! Don't throw in the towel too soon. Maranatha!

I see your point about the sacred calendar, however, the DAY clue is all we need. Could that be the case, since we would be using the sacred calendar to deal with the feasts? Could that apply? Please think on it, and I will.

Because, look at all the correlations:
1. June 21 is 21 DAYS after Pentecost this Jublee Year. (3 x 7 days or 3 weeks of 7 days)
2. It is Sunday, the Lord's Day.
3. It is our gentile Father's Day.
4. It is the lst Day of Summer.
5. It is the longest Day of the year.
6. It is the 40th day after the l7th of Iyar (on the sacred calendar).
7. May l4, l948 + 50 Years=3D May l3, l998 + 40 days=3DJUNE 21st.
8. 21 in biblical numerics means----THE EXCEEDING SINFULNESS OF SIN.

And, why did God bring the flood? Exceeding sinfulness, violence, moral decay, and no knowledge of God.

In Matthew 3, John tells all to repent, because Jesus is coming. When he baptizes Jesus, Jesus COMES UP, IMMEDIATELY OUT OF THE WATER, and the heavens OPEN UP, and the Holy Spirit descends, and a VOICE like thunder is heard. Then Jesus fas ts for 40 DAYS and 40 nights, then Satan tempts him 3 times (hour of temptation----the tribulation---7 years----3x7).

In Exodus l9, Moses is on the Mt. Sinai for 40 days and 40 nights, and God tells him to tell the people to be prepared for the 3rd Day, and when the trumpet sounds loud and long, that they are to COME UP! (This is after the sacred calendar is in use from Exodus l2)

And , in the 40th year after the Israelites left Egypt, Aaron WENT UP to the mountain and died. He was l23 years old. l20 means Divine Probation and 3 means the Trinity.

I have more. Please study and advise. Thanks, so much, for sticking with us and for your devotion to the Lord. Love, in Christ

My reply

I have reservations about June 21 because it is the first day of summer. In Song of Solomon 2:11, it says that winter is past, not spring is past. I'm thinking that next weekend may make more sense than the 21st. Either could be the third watch since there are two calendars for Pentecost. Either could be "yet other seven days" of Gen. 8:10 and "yet other seven days" of Gen. 8:12.

Either could relate to the third day at Sinai. Moses was told "Go unto the people, and sanctify them to day and to morrow, and let them wash their clothes, And be ready against the third day: for the third day the LORD will come down in the sight of all the people upon mount Sinai" (Ex. 19:10,11). That was the first time a trumpet sounded in the Bible too. Also, Sinai and the sapphire pavement represented Heaven. Clues abound. It is just hard to see the picture clearly.

We are wheat, and the wheat harvest is soon. On the Jewish calendar, it is in Sivan and Tamuz, so that does go on into summer.

In the fig tree parable of Mt. 24:32-34, "summer is nigh. So likewise ye, when ye shall see all these things, know that it (the Rapture) is near, even at the doors." A door represents the Rapture, but here we have doors, and I think the second Rapture is on the Feast of Trumpets. So, I don't know if "summer is nigh" here has an application to the first Rapture or not.

Anyway, be ready in case it could be next weekend. We do want to make sure we have white garments. We do want to make sure we are ready, whenever it is.

Hang in there. This may be a test, a separating the wise from the foolish. Stay strong and stay ready no matter how long it takes.
