My second reply to a previous email, Re: On Jesus' birthday, Tishri 1 and the Moon at Her Feet come together

We have four main guides, the Bible, Josephus, Calendar Converter programs and Astronomy Programs.

He placed Herod's death between Esther's Fast and Passover/Unleavened Bread in 4 BC.

In Ant. XVII. VI. 4, Josephus said of Herod, "he deprived Matthius of the high priesthood... and made Joazar...high priest in his stead. Now it happened, that during the time of the high priesthood of this Matthias, there was another person made high priest for a single day, THAT VERY DAY WHICH THE JEWS OBSERVE AS A FAST (i.e., THE FAST OF ESTHER, Adar 13, or Veadar 13 in leap years, Esther 4:14)...But (the next day, PURIM, Adar 14, or Veadar 14) Herod deprived this Matthias of the high priesthood, and burnt the other Matthias, who had raised the sedition (over the eagle placed at the temple), with his companions, alive. AND THAT VERY NIGHT THERE WAS AN ECLIPSE OF THE MOON."

That eclipse was on March 13, 4 BC. It was Veadar 14, PURIM, the day after Esther's fast on Veadar 13.

There is another eclipse that is close, March 2, 3 BC is Adar 15 (Shushan Purim).

Besides these two, no other eclipse is possible, because a fast day did not precede them. The eclipse of Jan. 9, 1 BC is Shevat 15. It doesn't fit.

On the left below are the Lunar eclipses of 7 to 1 BC from Fred Espenak's Eclipse page at NASA. To the right of each is the Hebrew date given by fourmilab's Calendar Converter.

BC 7 Apr 14 - 3754 Nisan 15
BC 7 May 13 - 3754 Iyar 14
BC 7 Oct 08 - 3755 Tishri 15
BC 7 Nov 07 - 3755 Cheshvan 15
BC 6 Apr 04 - 3755 Nisan 16
BC 6 Sep 27 - 3756 Tishri 15
5 BC Mar 23 - 3756 Nisan 15 - last eclipse before Jesus' birth on Tishri 1, 3757, Sept. 4, 5 BC
5 BC Sep 15 - 3757 (Leap Year) Tishri 14 - first eclipse after Jesus' birth
BC 4 Mar 13 - 3757 Veadar 14 (PURIM) (Herod died during the 31 days between this eclipse and Nisan 15, the Feast of Unleavened Bread called Passover)
BC 4 Sep 05 - 3757 Elul 13
BC 3 Jan 31 - 3758 Shevat 15
BC 3 Mar 02 - 3758 Adar 15 (which was Shushan Purim)
BC 3 Jul 27 - 3758 Av 15
BC 3 Aug 26 - 3758 Elul 15
BC 2 Jan 20 - 3759 Shevat 15
BC 2 Jul 17 - 3759 Av 16
BC 1 Jan 09 - 3760 (Leap Year) Shevat 14
BC 1 Jul 05 - 3760 Tammuz 14
BC 1 Dec 29 - 3761 Teveth 13

The Hebrew 3757 was a Leap Year having an extra month, Veadar (or Adar II). This is important, because Jesus was born on the first day, and Herod died between Esther's Fast and Nisan 15, the Feast of Unleavened Bread, that same year. Esther's Fast was on VEADAR 13. Purim was on VEADAR 14. That was the night of the eclipse. Herod died between Purim and Nisan 15, the Feast of Unleavened Bread that Josephus called Passover.

The eclipse of Jan 9, 1 BC (Shevat 14), picked by Ernest Martin, does not fit, because it does not follow Esther's Fast. The only eclipse that fits is the one on March 13, 4 BC. Jesus would have been born on the preceding Tishri 1, Sept 4, 5 BC.

Previously, we have found that Calendar Converter programs can be off by two to four days in Jesus' time. The main reason is that the present Hebrew Calendar that is figured mathematically and has some delays worked in is extrapolated backwards. In those days, the NYD was set when the crescent Moon was sighted within about a half-hour after sunset.

TheStar and YourSky

We have found that astronomy programs can be trusted more than Calendar Converters. YourSky shows the sign of Rev. 12:1-5 was fulfilled on Sept. 4, 5 BC. Virgo was clothed with the Sun, and the New Crescent Moon was under her feet.

Over everything else, we must go by the Bible. De. 11:14 says, "I will give you the rain of your land in HIS DUE SEASON, the first rain and the latter rain".

Hosea 6:3 says, "the LORD: his going forth is prepared as the morning; and HE SHALL COME UNTO US AS THE RAIN, as the latter and former rain unto the earth." The Former Rain (First Advent) starts on Tishri 1. The Latter Rain (Second Advent) starts on Nisan 1.

Eze. 29:17 sets the day, "in the first month, in the first day of the month". Then verse 21 says, "In that day will I cause the horn (king) of the house of Israel (Jesus) TO BUD FORTH, and I will give thee the opening of the mouth (i.e., the Word, the Logos) in the midst of them; and they shall know that I am the LORD."

I think Jesus' first advent started when he was born on Tishri 1. His second advent will start when he returns on Nisan 1.

His birth was on Tishri 1 when Virgo was clothed with the Sun, and the Moon was at her feet. Rev. 12:1-5 says, "there appeared a great wonder (semeion, sign) in heaven; a woman (Virgo) clothed with the sun, and the moon under her feet (i.e., on Tishri 1), and upon (or over) her head a crown of twelve stars (Corona Borealis): And she being with child cried, travailing in birth, and pained to be delivered....And she brought forth a man child (Jesus), who was to rule all nations with a rod of iron: and her child was caught up unto God, and to his throne."

CC - Tishri 1, 3755 (354-day year) was Sept 24, 7 BC
YS - Crescent Moon was not under Virgo's feet until Sept 25

CC - Tishri 1, 3756 (355-day year) was Sept 13, 6 BC
YS - Crescent Moon was not under Virgo's feet until Sept 15 (Kislev 24, 3756 - Jesus' conception)

CC - Tishri 1, 3757 (385-day Leap Year) was Sept 2, 5 BC
YS - Crescent Moon was not under Virgo's feet until Sept 4 (Jesus' birth)

CC - Tishri 1, 3758 (353-day year) was Sept 22, 4 BC
YS - Crescent Moon was under Virgo's feet that day

CC - Tishri 1, 3759 (354-day year) was Sept 10, 3 BC
YS - Crescent Moon was not under Virgo's feet until Sept 12

CC - Tishri 1, 3760 (385-day Leap Year) was Aug 30, 2 BC
YS - Crescent Moon was not under Virgo's feet until Sept 2

To me, Sept 4, 5 BC is the only date for Jesus' birth that works. As the majority of researchers have said all along, Herod died between the eclipse of Mar 13, 4 BC and Nisan 15, the Feast of Unleavened Bread called Passover.

Res Gestae and three censuses

History, Archaeology and Jesus
Hard evidence from the ancient world dramatically supports the New Testament record on Jesus. by Paul L. Maier (

Josephus on Jesus

Twice Josephus refers to Jesus. His second reference concerns the episode involving James, whom he defines as "the brother of Jesus who was called the Christ." Earlier, in the middle of his reports on Pontius Pilate’s administration, Josephus has a longer passage on Jesus. For centuries this had been dismissed as a Christian interpolation. But what is doubtless the original wording has now been restored. In view of its importance, the entire passage is presented here:

"At this time there was a wise man called Jesus, and his conduct was good, and he was known to be virtuous. Many people among the Jews and the other nations became his disciples. Pilate condemned him to be crucified, and to die. But those who had become his disciples did not abandon his discipleship. They reported that he had appeared to them three days after his crucifixion, and that he was alive. Accordingly, he was perhaps the Messiah, concerning whom the prophets have reported wonders. And the tribe of the Christians, so named after him, has not disappeared to this day" (Antiquities 20:200)..;..

A comparatively young discipline only about 125 years old, scientific archaeology has delivered a spectacular amount of "hard evidence" from the ancient world that correlates admirably with information inside the Old and New Testaments....

The existence of Nazareth in Jesus’ day had been doubted by critics—until its name showed up in a first-century synagogue inscription at Caesarea. Augustus’ census edicts (in connection with the Nativity) are borne out by an inscription at Ankara, Turkey, his famous Res Gestae ("Things Accomplished"), in which the Roman emperor proudly claims to have taken a census three times. That husbands had to register their families for the Roman census was mandated in census papyri discovered in Egypt....

The Witness of the Stars

by E. W. Bullinger 1893 (

"COMA (The Woman and Child) The desired of all nations

"It ought also to be noted that in the preceding year there were three conjunctions of the planets Jupiter and Saturn, at the end of May and October, and at the beginning of December. Kepler (1571-1631) was the first to point this out, and his calculations have been confirmed by the highest authorities. These conjunctions occurred in the sign of PISCES: and this sign, according to all the ancient Jewish authorities (Josephus, Abarbanel, Eliezer, and others), has special reference to Israel. The conjunction of Jupiter and Saturn, they hold, always marked the occurrence of some even favourable to Israel; while Kepler, calculating backwards, found that this astronomical phenomenon always coincided with some great historical crisis, viz.: the Revelation to Adam, the birth of Enoch, the Revelation to Noah, the birth of Moses, the birth of Cyrus, the birth of Christ, the birth of Charlemagne, and the birth of Luther."

Incoming e-mail, Re: Who or What is the Prophetic Beast?

I would appreciate you thoughts about the contents in the link below? Do you think this author is correct in his understanding of the beast and the Mark?

My reply

No, this is not correct.

The author said,
> > The Sabbath is God's SIGN, standing, more than any commandment, for OBEDIENCE. It was symbolically in the HAND and in the FOREHEAD, just as the MARK of the Beast -- the pagan SUNDAY- -was in the right HAND and in the FOREHEAD!
> > SUNDAY observance -- Christmas, New Year's, Easter, etc. this is the MARK of the BEAST!

That isn't true. Col 2:16,17 says, "Let no man therefore judge you in meat, or in drink, or in respect of an holyday, or of the new moon, or of the sabbath days: Which are a shadow of things to come; but the body is of Christ."

> > If we break only this one commandment, we are guilty. The penalty is DEATH! Romans 6:23 says, "the wages of sin is death; but the gift of God is eternal life through Jesus Christ our Lord." Agape

His reply

Thanks Marilyn, I knew I could count on you for help with this.

Incoming e-mail, Re: calender off 300 years?

I was just reading that the calender we use today is off about 300 years. The 1st thing i was thing was about the dates you try to find. He said that when the ceaser calender came in use about 300 years were put onto it that never happened, if this was/is so then its not 2006 but 1706 and if that is so what would that do to all your star chart? If i recall the around the civil war was to be the coming, mmmmm. I know this is wild stuff but there is a debat about these 300 years with the people that date things of old.

I do not know much more than this so maybe you know more about this dating stuff and the missing years.

My reply

I don't think our calendar is off by 300 years. Actually, it is amazing that the calendar is as good as it is. It isn't easy to go by both the Sun and Moon as in the Hebrew Luni-Solar Calendar. It is irregular, having six type of years, but it is amazingly accurate long term. When the Solar Julian Calendar started, at first they added too many leap-year days. By the time Jesus was born, they had quit adding them. I think they got that pretty well straightened out in 6 AD. Then 10 dates had to be dropped in 1582 when the Julian changed to the Solar Gregorian.

The thing that seems to have been constant from Adam to now is the march of the weeks. Since the 7th day was to be honored, the weeks have been kept straight. Even when 10 dates were dropped, the march of the days and weeks was left intact.

It looks like the Calendar Converter programs can be off by about two days in the time of Jesus' First Advent. What is better to go by is the day of the week, if it is known. For instance, Jesus was crucified on Thursday, the preparation for the Passover. That was Nisan 13. Passover was Nisan 14. Unleavened Bread was Nisan 16. If Nisan 13 doesn't fall on Thursday in 30 AD, the calendar is off, because the modern Hebrew Calendar is extrapolated backward. That isn't 100 % accurate, because Tishri 1, New Year Day, was set by observing the Crescent New Moon, not mathematically with some extra rules that delay the beginning of Tishri 1. Agape

Incoming e-mail, Re: QUESTION

1st corinthians chapter 15 is talking about the resurrection of the Dead in Christ. They that are Christs at his coming will be resurrected together with the living believers. Now 1st Thess 4:13 - 18 is speaking of the same resurrection. 1st Thess 4:14 tells you that these verses from 1 Thess chapter 4 are speaking of the resurrection. Read carefully. 1st Thess 4:14 For if we believe that Jesus died and rose again, even so them also which sleep in Jesus will God bring with him.

Match this verse( 1st Thess 4:14) up with all of 1st Corinthians chapter 15. Simple its the same resurrection of the dead.

Jesus Christ is the Resurrection and the Life. He is the Promise.

Hebrewss 11:39,40 says, "And these all (Abel, Enoch, Noah, Abraham, Isaac, Jacob, Sara, Esau, Moses, David, Samuel, etc.) having obtained a good report through faith, received not the promise: God having provided some better thing for us, that they without us should NOT BE MADE PERFECT."

All believers in Christ and the Old testament faithful receive their promise of everlasting life at the resurrection. Thus There is no pretrib rapture

1st Corinthians 15

Now if Christ be preached that he rose from the dead, how say some among you that there is no resurrection of the dead?

But if there be no resurrection of the dead, then is Christ not risen:

And if Christ be not risen, then [is] our preaching vain, and your faith [is] also vain.

Yea, and we are found false witnesses of God; because we have testified of God that he raised up Christ: whom he raised not up, if so be that the dead rise not.

For if the dead rise not, then is not Christ raised:

And if Christ be not raised, your faith [is] vain; ye are yet in your sins.

Then they also which are fallen asleep in Christ are perished.

If in this life only we have hope in Christ, we are of all men most miserable.

But now is Christ risen from the dead, [and] become the firstfruits of them that slept.

For since by man [came] death, by man [came] also the resurrection of the dead.

For as in Adam all die, even so in Christ shall all be made alive.

But every man in his own order: Christ the firstfruits; afterward they that are Christ's at his coming.

1st Thess 4:14 For if we believe that Jesus died and rose again, even so them also which sleep in Jesus will God bring with him. GOD BLESS

My reply

> > 1st corinthians chapter 15 is talking about the resurrection of the Dead in Christ. They that are Christs at his coming will be resurrected together with the living believers. Now 1st Thess 4:13 - 18 is speaking of the same resurrection.

Surely, you don't think the foolish virgins of Mt. 24:25 are cast away for good. They are believers. Otherwise, they would not be virgins in the first place. They all had their "old sins" cast away at the time they first believed in Jesus. Since they are left behind at the First Rapture, they have to be caught up at the Second Rapture. Jesus won't lose a finger of the Body of Christ.

There are believers that will not be caught up in the Pre-Trib Rapture of the Bride of Christ. We need to be (1) CALLED, (2) ELECTED, AND (3) CHOSEN" Otherwise, we can be left behind the first time.

Mt. 22: 1-14 tells us about the man lacking a white wedding garment. He is cast out of heaven at the time of the Rapture of the Body of Christ. Mt. 22:12-14 says, "And he saith unto him, Friend (i,e., one not as close as the brethren), how camest thou in hither (at the wedding feast) not having a wedding garment (i.e., a white robe)? And he was speechless. Then said the king to the servants, Bind him hand and foot, and take him away, and cast him into outer darkness (outside the door, which is a symbol of the Rapture, Rev. 3:8); there shall be weeping and gnashing of teeth. For MANY ARE CALLED, BUT FEW ARE CHOSEN."

Rev. 17:14 says, "the Lamb shall overcome them: for he is Lord of lords, and King of kings: and they that are with him (right after the Pre-Trib Rapture, but before the 10 kings have received their kingdom) are CALLED, AND CHOSEN, AND FAITHFUL."

II Peter 4-11 says, "Whereby are given unto us exceeding great and precious promises: that BY THESE YE MIGHT BE PARTAKERS OF THE DIVINE NATURE (Holy Spirit), having escaped the corruption that is in the world through lust. And beside this, giving all diligence, ADD TO YOUR FAITH virtue; and to virtue knowledge; And to knowledge temperance; and to temperance patience; and to patience godliness; And to godliness brotherly kindness; and to brotherly kindness charity. For if these things be in you, and abound, they make you that ye shall neither be barren nor unfruitful in the knowledge of our Lord Jesus Christ. But HE THAT LACKETH THESE THINGS IS BLIND (i.e., a Laodicean), and CANNOT SEE AFAR OFF (Heaven), and hath forgotten that he was purged from his OLD SINS (when he first accepted Jesus). Wherefore the rather, brethren (believers), give diligence to make your CALLING and ELECTION sure: for if ye do these things, ye shall never fall: For so an entrance (i.e., at the Pretrib Rapture) shall be ministered unto you abundantly into the everlasting kingdom of our Lord and Saviour Jesus Christ."

There are ranks in the First Resurrection. I Cor. 15:21-23 says, "For since by man came death, by man came also the resurrection of the dead. For as in Adam all die, even so in Christ shall all be made alive. But every man in HIS OWN ORDER (tagmati, rank): Christ (1st rank) the firstfruits (2nd rank); AFTERWARD they that are Christ's at his coming" (3rd rank).

1Cor 15:20 says, "But now is Christ risen from the dead, and become THE FIRSTFRUITS of them that slept."

SECOND RANK - PRE-TRIB RAPTURE OF WISE VIRGINS James 1:18 Of his own will begat he us with the word of truth, that WE SHOULD BE A KIND OF FIRSTFRUITS OF HIS CREATURES."

Included in this group are the 144,000 Israelite virgins, and the formerly foolish virgins who have washed their robes in the blood of Christ, plus a great multitude that no man can number.

Rev 14:4 says, "These (the 144,000 Israelites) are they which were not defiled with women; for THEY ARE VIRGINS. These are they which follow the Lamb whithersoever he goeth. These were redeemed from among men, being THE FIRSTFRUITS unto God and to the Lamb."

Rev. 7:9 says, "After this I beheld, and, lo, a great multitude, which no man could number, of all nations, and kindreds, and people, and tongues, stood before the throne, and before the Lamb, clothed with white robes, and palms in their hands".

Rev. 7:14-17 says, "These are they which came out of GREAT TRIBULATION, and have WASHED THEIR ROBES, AND MADE THEM WHITE IN THE BLOOD OF THE LAMB. Therefore are they before the throne of God, and serve him day and night in his temple: and he that sitteth on the throne shall dwell among them. They shall hunger no more, neither thirst any more; neither shall the sun light on them, nor any heat. For the Lamb which is in the midst of the throne shall feed them, and shall lead them unto living fountains of waters: and God shall wipe away all tears from their eyes."

Why were they crying? because they were not caught up to Heaven in the first Rapture and had to endure the shortened Tribulation up to the Day of God's Wrath. At that time, they know the asteroid is coming. Small rocks have already begun to fall.

Luke 12:46 says, "The lord of that servant (the unwise) will come in a day when he looketh not for him, and at an hour when he is not aware, and will CUT HIM IN SUNDER (lit., cut him off), and will appoint him his portion (i.e., the shortened Tribulation) WITH THE UNBELIEVERS."

Mt. 24:51 adds, "And shall cut him asunder, and appoint him his portion (the shortened Tribulation) with the hypocrites (pretenders): THERE SHALL BE WEEPING AND GNASHING OF TEETH."

Mt. 22:11-14 says, "And when the king came in to see the guests, he saw there a man which had not on a wedding garment: And he saith unto him, Friend, how camest thou in hither not having a wedding garment? And he was speechless. Then said the king to the servants, Bind him hand and foot, and take him away, and cast him into outer darkness; THERE SHALL BE WEEPING AND GNASHING OF TEETH. FOR MANY ARE CALLED, BUT FEW ARE CHOSEN."

Rom 11:16 says, "For if the firstfruit (Christ) be holy, the lump is also holy: and if the root be holy, so are the branches (plural, two kinds of saints, Pre-Trib saints and Pre-Wrath saints).

Luke 21:34-36 says, "And take heed to yourselves, lest at any time your hearts be overcharged with surfeiting, and drunkenness, and cares of this life, and so that day come upon you unawares. For as a snare shall it come on all them that dwell on the face of the whole earth. Watch ye therefore, and PRAY ALWAYS, THAT YE MAY BE ACCOUNTED WORTHY TO ESCAPE ALL THESE THINGS THAT SHALL COME TO PASS, AND TO STAND BEFORE THE SON OF MAN." Agape
