"Trips to Lourdes to cut time spent in purgatory"

"Pope Benedict XVI prays to a statue of Madonna of Lourdes in St. Peter's Basilica at the Vatican"
http://www.telegraph.co.uk/news/main.jhtml?xml=/news/2007/12/06/wpope106.xml

6/12/2007 - "Pilgrims to the shrine in south-west France will receive 'plenary indulgences' from the Pontiff, which the Church says reduce the time spent being 'washed' of sin after death. The indulgences will be available from this weekend until Dec 8, 2008.

"The Church teaches that people who do not go directly to heaven must spend time in purgatory, where they can be purified of residual sin....

"For those who cannot make the journey to France, the Pope will also grant indulgences to Catholics who pray at places of worship dedicated to the Madonna of Lourdes from Feb 2 to Feb 11. Indulgences may also be granted under special circumstances to people too sick to visit the shrine, the Vatican said"....

My comments

Shades of the past. What a shock! Who would have expected such as this in modern times? There is no such thing as Purgatory. Indulgences are worthless. Will a new Martin Luther appear?

The Pope "prays to a statue of Madonna"? What kind of an example is that?

Exodus 20:1-6 says, "God spake all these words, saying, I am the LORD thy God, which have brought thee out of the land of Egypt, out of the house of bondage. Thou shalt have no other gods before me. THOU SHALT NOT MAKE UNTO THEE ANY GRAVEN IMAGE, or any likeness of any thing that is in heaven above, or that is in the earth beneath, or that is in the water under the earth: Thou shalt not bow down thyself to them, nor serve them: for I the LORD thy God am a jealous God, visiting the iniquity of the fathers upon the children unto the third and fourth generation of them that hate me; And shewing mercy unto thousands of them that love me, and keep my commandments."

I have a copy of the Confraternity-Douay Catholic Bible, St. Joseph Edition, published by the Catholic Book Publishing Company, NY. The first thing you see when you open the Bible is their list of the ten commandments on the flyleaf. They leave out the one about not making images and split the last commandment into two. I'll copy their list so you can see what I mean.

THE TEN COMMANDMENTS

1. I am the Lord Thy God; thou shalt not have strange gods before Me.
2. Thou shalt not take the name of the Lord Thy God in vain.
3. Remember thou keep holy the Sabbath Day.
4. Honor thy father and thy mother.
5. Thou shalt not kill.
6. Thou shalt not commit adultery.
7. Thou shalt not steal.
8. Thou shalt not bear false witness against thy neighbor.
9. Thou shalt not covet thy neighbor's wife.
10. Thou shalt not covet thy neighbor's goods.

Here is the 2nd and 10th in a non Catholic list.

2. You shall not make for yourself any idol, nor bow down to it or worship it.
10. You must not be envious of your neighbour's goods. You shall not be envious of his house nor his wife, nor anything that belongs to your neighbour.

Dino Death Trap

National Geographic Channel, Sunday 8e/9p

"An unprecedented discovery...More than 400 specimens--nearly 40 DINOSAURS--ALL FOUND PILED ONE ON TOP OF THE OTHER, uncovering the earliest known T-Rex ancestor."

(My note: I think they are piled 4 or 5 deep, not 40 deep, and are made up of 40 kinds.)

Jackpot! Paleontologists hit a goldmine of fossils when they dig in China’s western Gobi desert, finding dinosaurs piled one on top the other. Scientists believe the field was a prehistoric predator trap, where one stuck dino would draw a predator, who also gets trapped, intertwined in its prey’s fate.

Dissecting a Dinosaur Mummy
By William Lee
Peering inside a massive hunk of rock that contains a near-complete dinosaur body requires one of the largest CT Scanners on the planet.
http://channel.nationalgeographic.com/channel/dinosaurs/scanning-a-dino-mummy.html

Back in 1999, a high school sophomore named Tyler Lyson spotted three dinosaur vertebrae poking out of the ground on his family’s land in North Dakota. Lyson was no ordinary teenager, but rather a paleontological prodigy who already had 20 dinosaur fossil finds to his credit. But it wasn’t until he returned to excavate the site five years later that he discovered that this one was no ordinary fossil....

Indeed, Lyson had discovered what paleontologists suspect may be a virtually complete specimen of an Edmontosaurus, a three-and-a-half ton, 40-foot-long herbivore that roamed the wetlands that existed 67 million years ago in what is now the dusty, dry North Dakota badlands. Not just the skeleton, but fossilized remains of soft tissue as well, mummified by a mysterious process that scientists are still working to understand. It was an unprecedented find, one that had the potential to rewrite the existing body of knowledge not just about duckbills, but dinosaurs in general.

The Largest CT-Scanner

The largest CT-scanner in the world is used to examine one of the most complete dinosaur mummies ever found. Normally used to scan jet engines and space shuttle components, the scanner has difficulty seeing through the rock that encases this fossil.

Naked Science: Dino Meteor
http://channel.nationalgeographic.com/channel/ET/popup/200712091900.html

Many scientists theorize that the dinosaurs were wiped off the face of the earth by a giant meteor.

My comments

I think the catastrophe that caused 4 or 5 dinos to be stacked on top of each other was an asteroid/meteor impact. In many places across the world, there are bone pits or caves with a mix of many animal's bones in them, predators and prey all perished together. The catastrophe seems to have been world wide. There are even fossil fish that are curled up in horror. Death came quickly. These animals and fish were buried by the cateclysm that killed them. Frozen mammoth flesh is still fresh enough for dogs to eat when thawed. Yet, they had been eating plants that had been growing in a warm climate.

Exclusive: 3 tracks to keep peace process alive

Israel, the Palestinian Authority and the US - in the immediate aftermath of the Annapolis conference - are working to launch three parallel tracks to keep the Annapolis process alive and active, The Jerusalem Post has learned.

The first is the bilateral negotiation track, which is to begin with talks between Israeli and Palestinian representatives at a Steering Committee meeting on December 12 somewhere in the region.

Those talks are expected to establish the overall framework for the negotiations both sides said they would like to wrap up with an agreement by the end of 2008....

The second track is the road map implementation track, including the US monitoring mechanism....

Israel's team, Prime Minister Ehud Olmert has made clear, will be led by Foreign Minister Tzipi Livni, and is expected to include representatives from the Prime Minister's Office and the Defense Ministry. Running in parallel with the Steering Committee, and to oversee its work, Olmert and Palestinian Authority President Mahmoud Abbas are to meet every other week....

The third post-Annapolis track is enlisting the Arab countries and the international community to produce a favorable regional environment that will advance a two-state solution....

...Based on the Talmud (Rosh Hashana 25a), the Jewish months are calculated at 29.53059 days.

It took the modern world many centuries to arrive at a figure this accurate of the length of the lunar month. After years of research based on calculations using satellites, hairline telescopes, laser beams and super- computers, scientists at NASA determined that the length of the "synodic month," i.e. the time between one new moon and the next is: 29.530588 days. Quite remarkable what the Talmudic sages knew from the tradition given by God to Moses at Mount Sinai!

Temple Institute Announces: High Priest's Crown is Ready!

by Hillel Fendel
http://www.israelnationalnews.com/News/News.aspx/124443

Asked what project they're working on at present, Rabbi Richman said, "We have begun work on 120 sets of garments for 'regular' priests, not the High Priest. This involves special thread from India, etc. In addition, we have begun work on architectural blueprints for the Third Temple, including cost projection, modern supplies, electricity, plumbing, computers, etc."...

We're not just building beautiful vessels; we're interested in granting G-d the dwelling place that He wants in this world; the Temple is not merely a building, but a way of bringing G-d into our lives in a very real way. And that is what we aim to do. This tzitz is G-d's Chanukah present to us, and our Chanukah gift to the Jewish People."

I've been reading your webpage since 1998! I've never seen you refer to any of the information that Dr. David Reagan has collected on his website. He's the director and founder of Lamb and Lion Ministries. I find that of all the prophetical information I've sifted through over the years, his is the easiest to understand and Biblically, makes the most sense. I just wanted to pass the link on to you so you could see what he says. After you enter the site, the "Articles" link on the left takes you to a wealth of information. I hope you'll take the time to read, if you aren't already familiar with his ministry. Thank you

Thanks. Since I was working on an article about resurrection, I read:
Resurrections and Judgments, How Many and When?
http://www.lamblion.com/articles/prophecy/issues/PI-08.php

His chart shows the first and second resurrections. In the first, he shows 3 stages, the resurrection of Jesus, the resurrection and translation of the church, and the resurrection of tribulation martyrs and old testament saints. In the 2nd resurrection he lists the resurrection of the unrighteous, and adds, "All at one time for the Great White Throne judgment". ---

Re: "Resurrections and Judgments
How Many and When?
by Dr. David R. Reagan

My boyhood church always taught that there would be one resurrection and one judgment. Everyone who had ever lived would be resurrected at one time, and all of us — the just and the unjust — would be judged at the same time. The sheep would be separated from the goats at the Great White Throne Judgment pictured in Revelation 20:11-15.

But this concept is all wrong. The Bible reveals that there will be more than one resurrection and more than one judgment.

Multiple Resurrections
Concerning resurrection, Jesus clearly taught that there would be more than one resurrection. In John 5:29 He refers to a "resurrection of life" and a "resurrection of judgment." The apostle Paul confirmed this concept in his defense before Felix when he stated that he believed the teaching of the prophets "that there shall certainly be a resurrection of both the righteous and the wicked" (Acts 24:15).

Of course, it could be argued that the two resurrections referred to in these scriptures will occur at the same time. Thus, because they will happen simultaneously, there is, in effect, only one resurrection. However, the Scriptures establish the fact that the resurrection of the righteous will occur in stages.

In other words, the Bible does not teach one resurrection or even two resurrections in number. Rather, it teaches that there will be two resurrections in type which will be conducted in stages, resulting in several resurrections — at least four, to be specific.

The Resurrection of the Just
That the resurrection of the righteous will occur in stages is clearly taught in 1 Corinthians 15:20-24. In fact, the first stage of the resurrection of the righteous has already happened, for verse 20 says that "Christ has been raised from the dead, the first fruits of those who are asleep."

Verses 22 and 23 go on to explain that all who have died in Christ shall be made alive, "but each in his own order: Christ, the first fruits, after that those who are Christ's at His coming."

The imagery of the harvest that is used in these verses is a key to understanding the first resurrection — the resurrection of the righteous.

The Harvest Imagery
In Bible times the harvest was conducted in three stages. It began with the gathering of the first fruits which were offered as a sacrifice of thanksgiving to God.

It proceeded with the general harvest. But not all was taken in this harvest. Some of the crop was left in the field to be gathered by the poor and the needy. This was called the gleanings (Leviticus 19:9-10).

Using this imagery, the Bible presents the resurrection of Jesus as the "first fruits" of the resurrection of the righteous. The gathering of the Church Age saints, living and dead, at the appearing of the Lord (the Rapture) is thus the general harvest stage of the resurrection of the righteous (John 14:1-3 and 1 Thessalonians 4:13-18).

But there is a third and final stage to this resurrection of the righteous. It is the gleanings, and it occurs at the end of the Tribulation...
---

Here is the way I see it. Jesus was the Firstfruit. After his resurrection, others came out of their graves and were seen in Jerusalem. Jesus took the Old Testament saints that were waiting in Paradise to Heaven that same day, then returned to Earth. He could not be touched until he returned later that day.

The next group that will be caught up to Heaven will be the church saints in the Pre-Trib Rapture of I Thess. 4:13-18. Jesus will bring the OT saints with him. They will get their resurrection bodies ahead of the living. Then the living saints will rise up with them to meet Jesus in the sky.

Mt. 22:31,32 says, "But as touching the resurrection of the dead, have ye not read that which was spoken unto you by God, saying, I am the God of Abraham, and the God of Isaac, and the God of Jacob? God is not the God of the dead, but of the living."

1Cor 15:42 says, "the resurrection of the dead. It is sown in corruption; it is raised in incorruption."

The Tribulation saints will be caught up in the Pre-Wrath Rapture. At that point, all saints in Heaven will be changed, actually become immortal, be made perfect (I Cor. 15:51-53). They will receive their rewards at the Judgment Seat of Christ. Luke 14:14 says, "thou shalt be recompensed at the resurrection of the just."

Acts 24:15 says, "have hope toward God, which they themselves also allow, that there shall be a resurrection of the dead, both of the just and unjust." They are, however, at different times. The unjust have to wait until after the Millennium.

Heb. 11:40 says, "God having provided some better thing for us, that they without us should not be made perfect." The whole Body of Christ will become immortal at the same time, when the group is complete. This is the last rank in the First Resurrection.

There will be another Resurrection at the end of the Millennium.

Eighth wonder of the world? The stunning temples secretly carved out below ground by 'paranormal' eccentric

by HAZEL COURTENEY - 22nd Nov 2007

Nestling in the foothills of the Alps in northern Italy, 30 miles from the ancient city of Turin...deep underground, buried into the ancient rock...

Here, 100ft down and hidden from public view, lies an astonishing secret - one that has drawn comparisons with the fabled city of Atlantis and has been dubbed 'the Eighth Wonder of the World' by the Italian government.

For weaving their way underneath the hillside are nine ornate temples, on five levels, whose scale and opulence take the breath away.

Constructed like a three-dimensional book, narrating the history of humanity, they are linked by hundreds of metres of richly decorated tunnels and occupy almost 300,000 cubic feet...

Few have been granted permission to see these marvels....

But the 'Temples of Damanhur' are not the great legacy of some long-lost civilisation, they are the work of a 57-year-old former insurance broker from northern Italy who, inspired by a childhood vision, began digging into the rock.

The monumental structure near Jerusalem's Dug Gate. The mansion is beneath the Givati parking lot near the Dung Gate. Dig director Dr. Doron Ben-Ami, said the structure, unearthed across the street from the City of David Visitors Center, was of unusual proportions for the Second Temple period and may have belonged to the royal family of Adiabene, of which Queen Helene was the best-known member. Advertisement He added that the final word was not in yet, and that he would have to wait until the excavation was expanded in the coming season to securely determine the identity of the entire complex. Helene of Adiabene, who converted to Judaism some 2,000 years ago and moved to Jerusalem, built grand residences in the area of the City of David. She was known in Jewish sources as a righteous woman, one of the queens of Adiabene, a kingdom on the upper Tigris river. The Roman-era Jewish historian Josephus mentions her in his book "The Antiquities of the Jews" and mentions her son, Monbaz II, a number of times. He relates how she converted to Judaism together with her son, under the influence of two Jews, and how the she and Monbaz assisted the Jews of Jerusalem during the Great Revolt. According to historical sources, Helene came to Jerusalem to sacrifice in the Temple after her conversion, and distributed money generously to the poor. She spent the rest of her life in one of the palaces she built in the City of David.
