ANOTHER OF GOD'S WONDERS
A POST ON FIVE DOVES
Denis Hart (23 Feb 2013)
"Malachi 4: the Day of the Lord, the Torah and Elijah"
Romans 9: 4,5 For they are Israelites, and to them belong God's adoption [as a nation] and the glorious Presence (Shekinah). With them were the special covenants made, to them was the Law given. To them [the temple] worship was revealed and [God's own] promises announced. 5 To them belong the patriarchs, and as far as His natural descent was concerned, from them is the Christ, Who is exalted and supreme over all, God, blessed forever! Amen
Earliest Passover in 114 Years - Shavuot/Pentecost on 15 May 2013
(previous letter - 20 February 2013)
In my previous letter I highlighted the (very) unusually early Easter (25/26 March) in 2013 and the consequence that Shavuot / Day of Pentecost will fall on 15 May 2013 - transition from Israel's Independence Day (14 May) to its first day as a new nation. It is a real struggle at present to keep up with the unfolding revelation of God's purposes, the many signs and converging timelines. So I just wish to highlight the following dates in 2013 (note that double dates reflect Jewish holidays - starting the previous evening - the 2nd day is the main date)
25/26 March - Passover
14/15 April - Jewish celebration of In Independence Day (5 Iyar)
14/15 May - Shavuot/ day of Pentecost
16/17 July - Day of the Lord may start near this date (1 day after 9 Av)
Malachi 4 and the Day of the Lord - His Vengeance!
Malachi 4:1 (Amplified): For behold, the day comes that shall burn like an oven, and all the proud and arrogant, yes, and all that do wickedly and are lawless, shall be stubble; the day that comes shall burn them up, says the Lord of hosts, so that it will leave them neither root nor branch.
As we know, Malachi 4 is the last chapter in the Old Testament and clearly the Holy Spirit has arranged this to be so. Verse 1 in Malachi 4 provides an overview, and speaks strongly of a day, the Day of the Lord, when the proud, wicked and lawless will be punished. When Jesus, at the start of His ministry, opened to Isaiah 61 he stopped reading after to proclaim the acceptable Day of the Lord. The Day of the Lord speaks of the next part: the day of vengeance of our God! Malachi 4 speaks of this Day of the Lord as a day of vengeance.
Malachi 4: 2,3: But unto you who revere and worshipfully fear My name shall the Sun of Righteousness arise with healing in His wings and His beams, and you shall go forth and gambol like calves [released] from the stall and leap for joy. 3 And you shall tread down the lawless and wicked, for they shall be ashes under the soles of your feet in the day that I shall do this, says the Lord of hosts.
It is hard to grasp the fullness and scope of this promise, or to picture how the Lord will bring this to pass. However, one key timing of this, I believe, is the Psalm 83/Isaiah 17 war when the Lord, through Israel, will triumph over those countries that (immediately) surround Israel. Subsequently, there will be an even greater victory, through God Himself, as described in Ezekiel 38 and 39 (the next cluster of countries - further removed, albeit still surrounding Israel). Then the final victory against the Antichrist and all the nations, as described in 2 Thessalonians 2, verse 8:
8 And then shall that Wicked be revealed, whom the Lord shall consume with the spirit of his mouth, and shall destroy with the brightness of His coming.
Malachi 4 (2, 3) promise an incredible victory for the faithful of the Lord, for His remnant Church that diligently prays for the peace of Jerusalem, and maintains its strong intercessory support for Israel in the midst of much opposition, including from within the broader body of Christ. The promise is that the Sun of Righteousness will arise with healing in His wings - the Resurrection Life of Christ will cause us to be victorious!
The Torah/Mosaic Law
Malachi 4:4 (Earnestly) remember the law of Moses, My servant, the statutes and the ordinances which I commanded him on [Mount] Horeb/Sinai [to give] to all Israel.
We then come to verses 4 and 5 in Malachi 4 and the link to Shavuot/Day of Pentecost. Perhaps the least looked at, yet very important verse, is verse 4. This quite strongly commands the reader to remember the law of Moses - the Torah given to Moses, and the very focus of Shavuot! Similarly, the story of (t)Ruth is that of the Gentile who willingly and wholly converted to Judaism.
This will be the challenge for the Church in coming months and years - the Tetrads are a heavenly witness to the battle/war for Israel! We know that Jesus Christ is our Messiah, yet recognise the Jewish foundations of our faith and the coming fulfilment of God’s promises for the nation of Israel and the Jewish people! Sadly, even with the outpouring of the Spirit many will accept dominion or kingdom theology (that the Church has replaced Israel!), and be deceived by the spirit of Antichrist.
Coming of Elijah
Malachi 4:5: Behold, I will send you Elijah the prophet before the great and terrible day of the Lord comes.
Matthew 17:10-12 And His disciples asked Him, saying, “Why then do the scribes say that Elijah must come first?” 11 Jesus answered and said to them, “Indeed, Elijah is coming first and will restore all things. 12 But I say to you that Elijah has come already, and they did not know him but did to him whatever they wished. Likewise the Son of Man is also about to suffer at their hands.
2 Kings 2:13: He also took up the mantle of Elijah that had fallen from him, and went back and stood by the bank of the Jordan.
Unravelling what the coming of Elijah really means is not easy, but very important for us to discern now as we approach another and special Passover. In the celebration of the Passover Feast there is a cup for Elijah. A quote from a book titled the Feasts of the Lord (Howard and Rosenthal) may be helpful:
Elijah's Cup: is the extra cup of wine poured in the hope that the prophet Elijah might come and announce the arrival of the Messiah. Rabbinic tradition holds that the Messiah will come during Passover, the season of redemption, to bring about the final redemption from dispersion. However, according to Malachi 4:5 Elijah must appear first.
In John 1:21 John the Baptist states quite clearly that he is not Elijah. Jesus' comments in Matthew 17 are not crystal clear on this issue, but along with other similar references appear to suggest that neither John the Baptist nor Himself (the Son of Man) were accepted by the Jews and, consequently, were not Elijah. In one sense both John the Baptist and Jesus Himself came in the Spirit and Power of Elijah. I am currently reading a book by Paul Hinnebusch titled Jesus, the New Elijah. Nevertheless good exegesis of the relevant Scriptures shows that the Elijah of Malachi 4:5 is still to come. I have put my thoughts on this in a previous letter titled the Coming of Elijah and the Pre-tribulation Rapture (link below).
How will this happen? This remains somewhat of a mystery, but is best approached by looking at the falling of Elijah's mantle in 2 Kings 2:13. The prophetic anointing of Elijah, that rested on Elisha, John the Baptist and Jesus Christ (in his role as a Prophet) will fall on another individual, releasing him and an Elijah company into a strong prophetic ministry, with signs following. This could be a Prophet already functioning as a Prophet, to be released in far greater measure, or even someone currently in relative obscurity (we know very little of Elijah's background, except that he was a Tishbite).
When will this happen? Malachi 4:5 promises that he will be sent before the (great and terrible) Day of the Lord comes. That is, the mantle may fall on this individual before the Day of the Lord, even though his ministry occurs mainly during the Day of the Lord. My view of the Day of the Lord starting in mid 2013 leaves very little time for this sending of Elijah, and just one Passover!
Malachi 4: Interesting/Exciting Times Just Ahead - These are the Days of Elijah!
We are poised on the edge of the unfurling of the end-times, like a giant (surfing) wave where we will see the fulfilment in Jesus'2nd coming of all the true prophets have spoken of: the days of Elijah, Elisha, Ezekiel, Joel, Daniel and the list goes on!! Malachi speaks of the Day of the Lord as the Lord's triumph over the wicked! Joel prophesies of an outpouring of the Spirit upon all flesh, including the Church and Israel.
Jesus says that Elijah will restore all things! Elijah will incorporate the Torah/Mosaic law given to Moses on Horeb/Sinai and also teach the giving of (sanctity of) the Land to Israel in an Eternal Covenant to Abraham, Isaac and Jacob/Israel. The last verse in Malachi 4 speaks of RECONCILIATION OF HEARTS.
Malachi 4:6 And he shall turn and reconcile the hearts of the [estranged] fathers to the [ungodly] children, and the hearts of the [rebellious] children to [the piety of] their fathers [a reconciliation produced by repentance of the ungodly], lest I come and smite the land with a curse and a ban of utter destruction...." Maranatha!

> > Malachi 4 and the Day of the Lord - His Vengeance!
Go with what you said in the second and third quotes, and think of the ramifications. The DAY OF THE LORD is the day of vengeance, the Day of God's Wrath. It is also the day of the Last-Trump Rapture. What good would it do to send Elijah at that time? The problem is revealed in the first quote. You think the last half of the Tribulation is the Day of the Lord. It is not. The Day of the Lord is one day. It is Jesus' Long Day, of which Joshua's Long Day was a type. The reason it is a long day is because the Earth is knocked upside down by the two asteroid impacts, one in the NE Mediterranean Sea, the other at literal Babylon near the Euphrates River. When the mountain-sized piece of asteroid hits the Mediterranean is when Damascus ceases to be a city.
As when the dinosaurs and mammoths were wiped out, an asteroid will hit the Earth. Actually, two large pieces will hit Earth. The home of Satan on the asteroid Wormwood (Rev 8:11) will probably split at the Roche Limit, 11,000 miles out. The mountain-sized piece of Rev 8:8 will hit the Mediterranean Sea.
Rev 8:5 symbolizes the asteroid impact. It says, "And the angel took the censer (probably a globe-shaped one), and filled it with fire of the altar, and cast it into the earth: and there were voices, and thunderings, and lightnings, and an earthquake."
This is the world-wide earthquake in which every wall will fall.
Eze 38:15-23 says, "And thou (i.e., Gog and his army) shalt come from thy place OUT OF THE NORTH parts, thou, and many people with thee, all of them riding upon horses, a great company, and a mighty army: 16 And thou shalt come up against my people of Israel, as a cloud to cover the land; it shall be in the latter days, and I will bring thee against my land, that the heathen may know me, when I shall be sanctified in thee, O Gog, before their eyes. 17 Thus saith the Lord GOD; Art thou he of whom I have spoken in old time by my servants the prophets of Israel, which prophesied in those days many years that I would bring thee against them? 18 And it shall come to pass AT THE SAME TIME WHEN GOG SHALL COME AGAINST THE LAND OF ISRAEL, SAITH THE LORD GOD, THAT MY FURY SHALL COME UP IN MY FACE. 19 For in my jealousy and in the fire of my wrath have I spoken, Surely in that day there shall be a great shaking in the land of Israel; 20 So that the fishes of the sea, and the fowls of the heaven, and the beasts of the field, and all creeping things that creep upon the earth, and all the men that are upon the face of the earth, shall SHAKE at my presence, and THE MOUNTAINS SHALL BE THROWN DOWN, and the steep places shall fall, and every wall shall fall to the ground. 21 And I will call for a sword against him throughout all my mountains, saith the Lord GOD: every man's sword shall be against his brother. 22 And I will plead against him with pestilence and with blood; and I will rain upon him, and upon his bands, and upon the many people that are with him, an overflowing rain, and great hailstones, fire, and brimstone. 23 Thus will I magnify myself, and sanctify myself; and I will be known in the eyes of many nations (i.e., they will see the Sign of the Son of Man, Mt 24:29), and they shall know that I am the LORD."
Mat 24:29,30 says, "Immediately after the tribulation of those days shall the sun be darkened, and the moon shall not give her light, and the stars shall fall from heaven, and the powers of the heavens shall be shaken: 30 And then shall appear THE SIGN OF THE SON OF MAN IN HEAVEN: and then shall all the tribes of the earth mourn, and they shall see the Son of man coming in the clouds of heaven with power and great glory."
Isa_24:1-6 says, "Behold, the LORD MAKETH THE EARTH EMPTY, AND MAKETH IT WASTE, AND TURNETH IT UPSIDE DOWN, and scattereth abroad the inhabitants thereof. 2 And it shall be, as with the people, so with the priest; as with the servant, so with his master; as with the maid, so with her mistress; as with the buyer, so with the seller; as with the lender, so with the borrower; as with the taker of usury, so with the giver of usury to him. 3 The land shall be utterly emptied, and utterly spoiled: for the LORD hath spoken this word. 4 The earth mourneth and fadeth away, the world languisheth and fadeth away, the haughty people of the earth do languish. 5 The earth also is defiled under the inhabitants thereof; because they have transgressed the laws, changed the ordinance, broken the everlasting covenant. 6 Therefore hath THE CURSE devoured the earth, and they that dwell therein are desolate: therefore THE INHABITANTS OF THE EARTH ARE BURNED, AND FEW MEN LEFT."
The meteor that exploded over Russia seems to be a SIGN of what will happen on the great and terrible Day of the Lord. It happened on the same day that asteroid 2012DA14 skimmed past Earth closer to us than our man-made satellites. That asteroid came within 17,220 miles of Earth. That is closer than some of our satellites.
Another similar SIGN will probably happen on Jan 15, 2014, when Earth will pass through the tail of Comet ISON.
"NASA has now posted a message saying, 'The trajectory of the Russian meteor was significantly different than the trajectory of the asteroid 2012 DA14, making it a completely unrelated object.' From the videos that came from Chelyabinsk, they say the Russian meteor 'was traveling from NORTH TO SOUTH. Asteroid 2012 DA14's trajectory is in the opposite direction, from south to north.'"
Why did this meteor come in from the north? I think it was a warning to not come against Israel during the Tribulation.
Jer_1:14 says, "Then the LORD said unto me, OUT OF THE NORTH an evil shall break forth upon all the inhabitants of the land."
Jer_6:1 says, "O ye children of Benjamin, gather yourselves to flee out of the midst of Jerusalem, and blow the trumpet in Tekoa, and set up a sign of fire in Bethhaccerem: for evil appeareth OUT OF THE NORTH, and great destruction."
Jer_10:22 says, "Behold, the noise of the bruit is come, and a great commotion OUT OF THE NORTH country, to make the cities of Judah desolate, and a den of dragons."
Jer_46:20 says, "destruction cometh; it cometh OUT OF THE NORTH."
Jer_47:2 says, "Thus saith the LORD; Behold, waters rise up out of the north, and shall be an overflowing flood (i.e., a tsunami), and shall overflow the land, and all that is therein; the city, and them that dwell therein: then the men shall cry, and all the inhabitants of the land shall howl."
Jer_50:3 says, "For out of the north there cometh up a nation against her, which shall make her land desolate, and none shall dwell therein: they shall remove, they shall depart, both man and beast."
Eze_38:2 says, "Son of man, set thy face against Gog, the land of Magog, the chief prince of Meshech and Tubal, and prophesy against him".
Eze_39:6 says, "And I will send a fire on Magog, and among them that dwell carelessly in the isles: and they shall know that I am the LORD."
This might indicate that the meteor or asteroid that will hit the Mediterranean Sea to destroy Gog's army will also come in from the north, i.e., from Russia.
Rev 8:8-13 says, "And the second angel sounded, and as it were a great mountain burning with fire was cast into the sea: and the third part of the sea became blood; 9 And the third part of the creatures which were in the sea, and had life, died; and the third part of the ships were destroyed. 10 And the third angel sounded, and there fell a great star from heaven, burning as it were a lamp, and it fell upon the third part of the rivers, and upon the fountains of waters; 11 And the name of the star (aster, star, asteroid, meteorite) is called Wormwood: and the third part of the waters became wormwood; and many men died of the waters, because they were made bitter. 12 And the fourth angel sounded, and the third part of the sun was smitten, and the third part of the moon, and the third part of the stars; so as the third part of them was darkened, and the day shone not for a third part of it, and the night likewise. 13 And I beheld, and heard an angel flying through the midst of heaven, saying with a loud voice, Woe, woe, woe, to the inhabiters of the earth by reason of the other voices of the trumpet of the three angels, which are yet to sound!"
Rev 18:21 says, "And a mighty angel took up a stone like a great millstone, and cast it into the sea, saying, Thus with violence shall that great CITY Babylon be thrown down, and shall be found no more at all."
Rev 6:17 says, "For the great day of his wrath is come; and who shall be able to stand?"
Rev 7:14 says, "And I said unto him, Sir, thou knowest. And he said to me, These are they which came out of great tribulation, and have washed their robes, and made them white in the blood of the Lamb."
Rev 8:1,2 says, "And when he had opened the seventh seal, there was silence in heaven about the space of half an hour. 2 And I saw the seven angels which stood before God; and to them were given seven trumpets."
The seven trumpet judgments follow the Last-Trump Rapture.
The "great and dreadful day of the LORD" is one literal day, not the last half of the Tribulation. It is the Day of God's Wrath. It is the day of TRUMPETS. It is the day Gog's army attacks Israel. It is the day the asteroids of Rev 8:8-11 impact Earth and wipe out all but 1/6th of Gog's army. It is the day the asteroid destroys Babylon (Rev 18:21). If the wicked are burned up on that day, Elijah would have no one to preach to. Elijah will not be subjected to the wrath of God.
Mal 4:1-6 says, "For, behold, THE DAY cometh, that shall burn as an oven; and all the proud, yea, and ALL THAT DO WICKEDLY, SHALL BE STUBBLE: AND THE DAY THAT COMETH SHALL BURN THEM UP, saith the LORD of hosts (i.e., the Redeemer, Jesus Christ, Isa 44:6), that it shall leave them neither root nor branch. 2 But unto you that fear my name (i.e., Jesus Christ) shall the Sun of righteousness arise with healing in his wings; and ye shall go forth, and grow up as calves of the stall. 3 And ye shall tread down THE WICKED; FOR THEY SHALL BE ASHES UNDER THE SOLES OF YOUR FEET IN THE DAY THAT I SHALL SO THIS, saith the LORD of hosts. 4 Remember ye the law of Moses my servant, which I commanded unto him in Horeb for all Israel, with the statutes and judgments. 5 Behold, I will send you Elijah the prophet before the coming of the great and dreadful DAY OF THE LORD: 6 And he shall turn the heart of the fathers to the children, and the heart of the children to their fathers, lest I come and smite the earth with a curse."
Horeb is Mt. Sinai. The pre-incarnate Christ was sitting on the sapphire pavement on Mt. Sinai.
2Pe_3:10 says, "But the DAY OF THE LORD will come as a thief in the night; IN WHICH THE HEAVENS SHALL PASS AWAY WITH A GREAT NOISE, AND THE ELEMENTS SHALL MELT WITH FERVENT HEAT, THE EARTH ALSO AND THE WORKS THAT ARE THEREIN SHALL BE BURNED UP."
Joe_1:15 says, "Alas for the day! for the DAY OF THE LORD is at hand, and AS A DESTRUCTION FROM THE ALMIGHTY (i.e., Jesus Christ, Rev 1:8) SHALL IT COME."
Joe_2:1 says, "Blow ye the TRUMPET in Zion, and sound an alarm in my holy mountain: let all the inhabitants of the land tremble: for the DAY OF THE LORD cometh, for it is nigh at hand".
Isa_2:12 says, "For the DAY OF THE LORD of hosts shall be upon every one that is proud and lofty, and upon every one that is lifted up; and he shall be brought low".
Isa_13:6 says, "Howl ye; for the DAY OF THE LORD is at hand; IT SHALL COME AS A DESTRUCTION FROM THE ALMIGHTY."
Isa_13:9 says, "Behold, the DAY OF THE LORD cometh, cruel both with WRATH and fierce anger, to lay the land desolate: and he shall destroy the sinners thereof out of it."
Isa_34:8 says, "For it is the DAY OF THE LORD'S VENGEANCE, and the year (i.e., probably 5776) of recompences for the controversy of Zion" (i.e., Jerusalem).
Zec_12:3 says, "And in that day will I make Jerusalem a burdensome stone for all people: all that burden themselves with it shall be cut in pieces, though all the people of the earth be gathered together against it."
Jer_46:10 says, "For this is the DAY OF THE LORD GOD of hosts, A DAY OF VENGEANCE, that he may avenge him of his adversaries: and the sword shall devour, and it shall be satiate and made drunk with their blood: for the Lord GOD of hosts hath a sacrifice in the north country by the river Euphrates" (i.e., at Babylon)."
Lam_2:22 says, "Thou hast called as in a solemn day my terrors round about, so that in the DAY OF THE LORD'S ANGER NONE ESCAPED NOR REMAINED".
Eze_13:5 says, "Ye have not gone up into the gaps, neither made up the hedge for the house of Israel to stand in THE BATTLE IN THE DAY OF THE LORD."
Eze_30:3 says, "For the day is near, even the DAY OF THE LORD is near, a cloudy day; it shall be the time of the heathen."
Joe 2:1,2 says, "Blow ye the TRUMPET in Zion, and sound an alarm in my holy mountain: let all the inhabitants of the land tremble: for the DAY OF THE LORD cometh, for it is nigh at hand; 2 A day of darkness and of gloominess, a day of clouds and of thick darkness, as the morning spread upon the mountains: a great people and a strong; there hath not been ever the like, neither shall be any more after it, even to the years of many generations."
Joe_2:11 says, "And the LORD shall utter his voice before his army: for his camp is very great: for he is strong that executeth his word: for the DAY OF THE LORD is great and VERY TERRIBLE; and who can abide it?"
Joe_2:31 says, "The sun shall be turned into darkness, and the moon into blood, before the GREAT AND THE TERRIBLE DAY OF THE LORD come."
Joe_3:14 says, "Multitudes, multitudes in the valley of decision: for the DAY OF THE LORD is near in the valley of decision."
Amo_5:18 says, "Woe unto you that desire the DAY OF THE LORD! to what end is it for you? the DAY OF THE LORD is darkness, and not light."
Amo_5:20 says, "Shall not the DAY OF THE LORD be darkness, and not light? even very dark, and no brightness in it?"
Oba_1:15 says, "For the DAY OF THE LORD is near upon all the heathen: as thou hast done, it shall be done unto thee: thy reward shall return upon thine own head."
Zep_1:7,8 says, "Hold thy peace at the presence of the Lord GOD: for the DAY OF THE LORD is at hand: for the LORD hath prepared a sacrifice, he hath bid his guests. 8 And it shall come to pass in the DAY OF THE LORD'S sacrifice, that I will punish the princes, and the king's children, and all such as are clothed with strange apparel."
Zep_1:14 says, "The great DAY OF THE LORD is near, it is near, and hasteth greatly, even the voice of the DAY OF THE LORD: the mighty man shall cry there bitterly."
Zep_1:18 says, "Neither their silver nor their gold shall be able to deliver them in the DAY OF THE LORD'S WRATH; but the whole land shall be devoured by the fire of his jealousy: for he shall make even a speedy riddance of all them that dwell in the land."
Zep_2:2 says, "Before the decree bring forth, before the day pass as the chaff, before the fierce anger of the LORD come upon you, before the DAY OF THE LORD'S ANGER come upon you."
Zep_2:3 says, "Seek ye the LORD, all ye meek of the earth, which have wrought his judgment; seek righteousness, seek meekness: it may be YE SHALL BE HID IN THE DAY OF THE LORD'S ANGER."
Zec_14:1 says, "Behold, the DAY OF THE LORD cometh, and thy spoil shall be divided in the midst of thee."
Act_2:20 says, "The sun shall be turned into darkness, and the moon into blood, before that great and notable DAY OF THE LORD come".
Rev 6:12,13 says, " And I beheld when he had opened the sixth seal, and, lo, there was a great earthquake; and the sun became black as sackcloth of hair, and the moon became as blood; 13 And the stars of heaven fell unto the earth".
1Th_5:2 says, "For yourselves know perfectly that the DAY OF THE LORD so cometh as a thief in the night."
DAY OF CHRIST, DAY OF THE LORD JESUS, IS THE DAY OF THE RAPTURE
1Co_5:5 says, "To deliver such an one unto Satan for the destruction of the flesh, that the spirit may be saved in the DAY OF THE LORD JESUS."
2Co_1:14 says, "As also ye have acknowledged us in part, that we are your rejoicing, even as ye also are ours in the DAY OF THE LORD JESUS."

Php_2:16 says, "Holding forth the word of life; that I may rejoice in the DAY OF CHRIST, that I have not run in vain, neither laboured in vain."
2Th_2:2 says, "That ye be not soon shaken in mind, or be troubled, neither by spirit, nor by word, nor by letter as from us, as that the DAY OF CHRIST is at hand."
> > 16/17 July - Day of the Lord may start near this date (1 day after 9 Av)
I think the Day of the Lord will be on the Feast of Trumpets, Tishri 1, 5776, Mon. Sept. 14, 2015.
Num_10:9 says, "And if ye go to war in your land against the enemy that oppresseth you, then ye shall blow an alarm with the TRUMPETS; and ye shall be remembered before the LORD your God, and ye shall be saved from your enemies." Agape
