Note: Ed's mother went into the hospital yesterday and is in ICU. Please pray for Millie Sparkes, Placentia, CA. She has infection in the whole of one lung, is short of breath, has Leukemia, a slow-growing cancerous tumor in her intestines, and congestive heart failure. I would like very much for her to be able to experience the Rapture.

Tidbit. Lately I have been stumbling across references to the Hebrew calendar being 240 years out of whack (I assiduously monitor dozens of sites). Unfortunately I didn't copy the references. The substance of the allegation is that the Jewish rabbis, priests, Pharisees or whatever, in an attempt to "cover" the crucifixion, altered the calendar to point to a subsequent Jewish hero (rebel) as Messiah. If I manage to retrace my convoluted paths through this digital wonderland, I will forward the exact references to you. In the interim, what think you? God bless

Larry Hayashi & Anthony Gerace

Thanks for the inquiries about the missing 240 years in the current Jewish calendar. Sorry about being so slow to answer you.

I am including below a short article that I wrote on errors in the Jewish chronology relative to the accepted secular chronology. Before you read it I suggest that you look up a much more significant articles looking at Bible chronology based dates and calendar using God's Word rather than the corresponding secular system. These articles are on the web at address:

If you do not have or are not able to download the Acrobat reader to read these articles, I will be glad to send the information in text form using additional E-mails.

Let me know if this information answers your questions.

Larry Hayashi; I agree with most of the Bible Chronology that you included in your E-mail to Greg Killian. I do not agree with the use of secular dates for the Babylonian captivity in 606-605 B.C. Look at the Bible Chronology chart at the above Web site. I would be glad to discuss the reasons for the chronology differences if future E-mails.

Art ------

The 1902 Jewish Encyclopedia, (Funk and Waganalls Co., New York) Volume III in the section on chronology on pages 70-71 identifies errors in the Jewish chronology relative to the accepted secular chronology as follows:

First the method of reckoning from the creation of the world was introduced prior to 987 C. E. when it was employed by R. Sherira. This era begins with the year corresponding to 3760 B.C.E. Three eras being used are correlated by this statement in the Mishneh Torah (Shemittah, X. 4): "In the year 1107 of the destruction of the Temple, 1487 of the Seleucidan era, 4936 of the Creation." Using 70 C. E. for the destruction of the temple, the year being defined was 1177C. E. This places creation at 3760 B. C. E. (4936 -1177 +1) and the beginning of the Seleucidan era at 311 B. C. E. (1487 +1 - 1177).

Jewish chronology uses certain estimated intervals between important events in post-Biblical Jewish history. "These intervals are given in 'Ab. Zarah 9a, 10a (probably derived from Seder 'Olam Rabbah xxix), which counts 34 years from the Second Temple to Alezander: 180 for the Greek empire; 101 from the beginning of the Hasmonean dynasty under John Hyrcanus (135 B. C. E. ) to Herod: 103 from herod to the destruction of the Temple; making in all 420 years. Loeb ("Revue Etudes Juives," xix. 202-205) Has ingeniously explained these discrepancies as due to a desire on the part of R. Jose, the author of the Seder'Olam Rabbah, to make them agree with the prediction of Dan. Ix 24 et seq., that seventy weeks (of years), or 490 years, would elapse between the Return from the Exile and the destruction of the Second Temple. As the Exile was assumed to last seventy years, in accordance with Jeremiah, this left 420 years from the Return (537 B. C. E.) to the destruction of the Temple (70 C. E.) a discrepancy of 187 years. This is got rid of in part by making the Persian domination last 34 instead of 204 years (537-333 B. C. E.). This was done in order to make the interval between the Exodus and the era of contracts ( The Selecidan era at 312 B. C. E.) exactly 1000 years.

***From Marilyn: Here is how I figure:

According to my own chronology chart, Adam was created in 0 AH, 4044/43 BC, or 283 BJE (before Jewish Era). When Adam was cast out of the Garden of Eden, it was 40 AH, 4004/3 BC, or 243 BJE. (Since there was no zero year between BC 1 and 1 AD, I did not put in a zero year when going back before the Jewish Era.)

> I have been stumbling across references to the Hebrew calendar being 240 years out of whack

If you move up on the chart three years, here is what you see, 43 AH, 4001/4000 BC, or 240 BJE. That's interesting, since the 240 BJE lines up with the turn of the century BC.

However, let's go back to when Adam was cast out of the garden. This is when man began to be tested as mortal and knowing both good and evil. I said: 4004/3 BC - 4000 years = 4/3 BC, which is 3758 Jewish; 3758 Jewish + 2000 years = 5758 Jewish, which is our 1997/1998 AD.

As a double check, I said, 5758 - 6000 + 1 (because no zero year going from Jewish Era to BJE) = 243 BJE. It checks out.

I thought the Rapture would probably happen in the 6000th year, the Jewish 5758 (our 1997/1998). It fit the 4 years in the parable of the barren fig tree in Lu. 13:6-9. However, it did not take place in 5758. In the parable, there are three years and then one more. Maybe the three are before the Tribulation, and the fourth the first year of the Tribulation before war breaks out when the second seal is broken.

Recently, I found out that Noah was in the Ark just about one solar year between the second month, 17th day of Gen. 7:11 and the second month, 27th day of 8:14. This latter day was when the Lord told Noah, "GO FORTH" (8:16). That is close to "Come up hither."

If you multiply 12 months by 29.531, the lunar month, you get 354.372. Add the extra ten days from Cheshvan 17 to Cheshvan 27 and you get 364.372. That is just about 365 days, or just about one solar year from the time that Noah entered the Ark in his 600th year to the time he was told, "Go forth" in his 601st year.

It may be also roughly one year from Pentecost in the 6000th year to Pentecost in the 6001st year, when the Rapture may take place. I first went by the 600th (6000th) year, thinking that when Noah ENTERED the Ark was what we should go by. That seemed right for the door was open, and we have an open door set before us (Rev. 3:8). However, the Lord also closed the door, and it was not opened again until the NEXT YEAR.

In "Signs in the Heavens," p. 244, Avi Ben Mordechai picked for the Rapture the Rosh Hashanah that begins the 6001st year, which he thought was 1999/2000 (p. 434). I never understood exactly why he picked the 6001st year instead of the 6000th, but maybe that part is correct.

Maybe when Noah went forth from the Ark in his 601st year is what we should go by. He was told "Go forth" AFTER THE RAIN WAS OVER AND GONE. Song of Solomon 2:10,11 says, "Rise up, my love, my fair one, and come away. For, lo, the winter is past, THE RAIN IS OVER AND GONE." When Noah entered the Ark, the rain came that same day. "In the selfsame day entered Noah" (Gen. 7:13).

I am now hoping for the Rapture Sivan 6, 5759, which is probably the 6001st year. This is our Friday, May 21, 1999.

I had thought that "the Lord's day" in Rev. 1:10 was Sunday, but it may be synonymous with "one of the days of the Son of man" (Lu. 17:22), which is the Rapture that is as the days of Noah (Lu. 17:26).

If it does mean Sunday, the Orthodox Pentecost will be Sunday, May 23, 1999. My reason for sticking with the Talmudic Calendar's Sivan 6 for Pentecost is because the 2300 days of Dan. 8:14 start on the Feast of Weeks/Pentecost in 2001 and continue to the Feast of Trumpets in 2007 (counted by Jewish inclusive reckoning). If the start date was on Sunday, the 2300-day count would not end on the feast day.

The period from the Feast of Weeks in 2001 to the Feast of Trumpets in 2007 is the only such period left in the forty years of probation that equals 2300 days. This makes me think it is probably ok to go by the present-day Talmudic Jewish Calendar. It would make little difference to us if the Rapture came on Friday or the following Sunday anyway. It would be an extremely happy Pentecost either way.

FWD: WARNINGS, by Donald S. McAlvany
Throughout the history of the world, God has always made known to his people impending times of trouble, and given them time to prepare [or escape]:

* He warned Noah and his family of the coming flood and directed them how to prepare to survive it.

* He warned Lot and his family of the coming destruction of Sodom and Gomorrah and told them to flee.

* He warned Pharaoh, through Joseph, of the coming famine and used Joseph to prepare stores of food during the seven years of plenty, which saved Egypt and Joseph's family [Jacob, his eleven sons, and their families] when the famine came.

* He warned the Israelites living under Egyptian slavery that the "angel of death" would kill all the first-born of every family and that they must protect themselves and their families by placing the blood of a lamb over the doorposts, so the angel would 'passover" them.

* He warned the people of Israel through his prophet Isaiah of the coming conquest of the Northern Kingdom by Assyria it happened in 712 BC.

* He warned the people of Judah [the Southern Kingdom] through his prophet Jeremiah, of their coming conquest by Babylon it happened in 586 BC.

* Jonah was sent to Ninevah, the capital city of Assyria to warned the people of God's coming destruction, and when they repented, he postponed the judgment for a number of years.

Jesus warned the people of Jerusalem of their coming destruction by Rome. Luke 19:41-44 says: "As he (Jesus) approached Jerusalem and saw the city, he wept over it and said "if you, even you, had only known on this day what would bring you peace-but now it is hidden from your eyes. The days will come upon you when your enemies will build an embankment against you and encircle you and hem you in on every side. They will dash you to the ground, you and the children within your walls. They will not leave one stone on another, because you did not recognize the time of God's coming to you."

When Jerusalem fell to the Romans, almost 40 years later in 70 AD, most of Jesus' followers had already fled the city and scattered. Over one million Jews were killed in Jerusalem at that time by the Romans under Titus.

In Europe during the 1930s, many Christians and Jews were given discernment by the Lord, recognized the dark clouds of death and destruction that were rolling across Europe, and got out before the Nazi boot slammed down on the continent. There were warnings which many of God's people acted upon, thereby getting them and their family out of harm's way.

Throughout the history of the Christian church, a period of almost 2000 years that has been checkered with numerous persecutions, the Lord has given advance warnings of the coming persecutions to His followers, so that they might flee, prepare for the trials - spiritually or physically, or go underground. In almost every one of those situations, it was primarily the God-fearing remnant who had the discernment to understand the times, to see the destruction or suffering that was coming, and to prepare (physically and spiritually).

In China, when persecution of the Christian church was coming several decades ago, believers were warned by the Lord to move from their open churches to underground, home churches. They did so and the underground, home was born in China. Today, over 83 million Christians meet in underground churches, while their Communist government continues to persecute them. Does the Lord warn and prepare His people for coming catastrophes, danger, upheaval, persecution or suffering? I believe that the Bible and the history of the church demonstrate that He does!

One common denominator is, that in almost all of those times of trouble down through the ages, the great majority of people could not see the upheaval coming. They refused to believe it. They were in denial. They were enjoying the good life (eating, drinking and partying) right up until the disaster overtook them. And, nothing was going to make them believe otherwise.

As Jesus said regarding the people of Noah's day in Matthew 24:38,39: "For in the days before the flood, people were eating and drinking, marrying and giving in marriage up to the day Noah entered the Ark; and they knew nothing about what would happen until the flood came and took them all away." [ED NOTE]: Noah warned them. They laughed at, and ridiculed him. They all died!

The people of Pompeii, the party city of the ancient Roman Empire, had 16 years of warnings eruptions, until one day 79 AD, it exploded (like Mt. St. Helens) and everyone in Pompeii was killed. Undoubtedly, a few heeded the warnings and fled the destruction-but most did not.

Our present situation in America is somewhat comparable to some of these past upheavals or crises with respect to the coming Y2K crisis. There are now ample warnings from knowledgeable people-and its implications for most Americans.

As with the peoples of Noah's, Lot's and Joseph's day; as with the peoples of Israel, Judah, and Jerusalem; as with the people in Pompeii, in Europe in the 1930s, and in Communist China in the '70s, 80s, and 90's-there are always warnings of the coming destruction, persecution, or upheaval.

The Lord lets his people know of the coming crisis often months or years before the time of trouble. This writer personally knows Christian families who saw the Bolshevik Revolution coming in Russia in 1917, and fled to safety one, two or three years before the death and destruction of the communist Revolution began. I, likewise, know of Christian and Jewish families who saw the carnage of the Third Reich coming in the 1930s and fled Europe to safety in advance of the upheaval.

The same is happening in America today. A growing number of people in the remnant see the political and financial upheaval which Y2K is likely to bring to America in less than 500 days or so, and are taking steps to get out of harm's way, to protect their families, and to prepare for the time of trouble. But, the great majority of Americans, like the people in Noah's day, the people in Pompeii, the people in Jerusalem, and the people in pre-War Europe will not listen to the warnings....

The God of the Bible will warn and will take care of His people!...

***From Marilyn: Maybe the Lord is warning us, and not only with the Y2K bug. Think of the wierd weather we have had. Last year, we had El Nino ("little boy"). This was named for the Christ child because it came at Christmas. Now that weather pattern, caused by warmer than usual seas in an area of the Pacific, has given way to La Nina ("little girl"). Those seas are now cooler than usual. La Nina is stealing the spotlight. Last year, I did not see a connection, but when we start hearing about La Nina, I begin to wonder.

What if the coming of the La Nina weather condition is a precursor of the Rapture of the Bride of Christ? I am in the Los Angeles, CA area. LA got more than 30 inches of rain from July 1, 1997 through June 30, 1998. This was twice the normal rainfall. La Nina is now expected to bring us DROUGHT.

Song of Solomon 2:10,11 says, "Rise up, my love, my fair one, and come away. For, lo, the winter is past, THE RAIN IS OVER AND GONE." Not only was the rain over when Noah was told "Go forth" from the Ark, our rain may soon be gone also. In normal times, we seldom get rain after March anyway.

I might think this was really stretching it if the Lord had not used the rain to show me how long Armageddon lasted. Back in 1969, I could not figure that out and told the Lord he would have to show me. He did. It rained for forty days and forty nights, something unheard of in Southern California.

I have "The Savage Storm," tab section put out by the Santa Ana Register, that has the exact dates the rain began and ended, Jan. 18, through Feb. 26, 1969. The dates are also listed under "GREAT DISASTERS" in my 1986 Information Please Almanac (p. 431). We had two great storms, and it did not stop raining in between. It just rained lightly in between. We had to send in 50 cents for the tab section. It arrived by mail on the Jewish Nisan 1, the Vernal Equinox, our Mar. 20, 1969. Nisan 1 is the first day of the Jewish Regnal and Sacred Year, the day of the Second Advent (Ezek. 29:17,21). That got my attention.

El Nino got the world's attention last year. Now the Nov., 1998, Reader's Digest has an article on La Nina, "HERE COMES MORE WEIRD WEATHER: Brace yourself for El Nino's bratty little sister." Guess what else gets my attention--"bratty." My maiden name is Bratt.

The surface water in an area near the equator in the Pacific had dropped an astounding 14 degrees F. by the middle of last June. On page 137, the article says, "'La Nina was definitely on the move,' says McPhaden. But what, exactly, had been set in motion?" Time will tell. It just might be more than a weather front.

In reference to the binery asteroid hitting the Mediterranian Sea you many times have written that this will happen at noon of that day.Which are the scripture/s that say it will happen at noon? Thanks.

My reply

Zeph. 2:3-7 says, "it may be ye shall be hid in the day of the LORD'S anger. For Gaza shall be forsaken, and Ashkelon a desolation: they shall drive out Ashdod at the NOON DAY, and Ekron (meaning: barrenness, tore away) shall be rooted up. Woe unto the inhabitants of the sea coast, the nation of the Cherethites (meaning: who cuts, who tears away and exterminates)! the word of the LORD is against you; O Canaan, the land of the Philistines, I will even destroy thee, that there shall be no inhabitant. And the sea coast shall be dwellings and cottages for shepherds, and folds for flocks. And the coast shall be for the remnant of the house of Judah."

Job 20:23, 28,29 says, "When he (the False Prophet, the wicked one) is about to fill his belly, God shall cast the fury of his wrath upon him, and shall rain it upon him WHILE HE IS EATING....The increase of his house shall depart, and his goods shall flow away in the day of his wrath. This is the portion of a wicked man from God, and the heritage appointed unto him by God."

Psa. 91:5-9 says, "Thou shalt not be afraid for the terror by night; nor for the arrow that flieth by day; Nor for the pestilence that walketh in darkness; nor for the DESTRUCTION THAT WASTETH AT NOONDAY....Only with thine eyes shalt thou behold and see the reward of the wicked. Because thou hast made the LORD, which is my refuge, even the most High, thy habitation."

I believe all of the Feasts of Israel were fullfilled at Christ death on Passover but our experiencing of what was fullfilled is progressively unfolding.

If we use the measurement 1000 years as a day, than the last days would be two our three thousand years long. There are several types and shadows in scripture that indicate that the feast of Pentecost is 2000 years long, such as the measurements of the Holy Place of 10x 10 x 20=2000.

The Feasts of Israel are prophetic so therefore they are mearsured in prophetic years of 360 days each. The feast of pentecost is about 2000 prophetic or biblical years long equaling 1971 regular years. If we add 1971 years to 30 AD we come up with pentecost 2001.

The out pouring of God's spirit prophecied by Joel only began in 30 AD it will end on pentecost 2001. The restoration of Davids Tabernacle prophecied in Amos began at the same time and will also be completed on pentecost 2001. This will be the complete restoration of worship and of God's governments.

This will bring an end to the age of grace or church age and will begin the delayed seven years of the age of the Jews spoken about in Daniel, which will bring us to another end or completion which will begin the Feast of Tabernacles or the beginning of the later rain which when completed will bring the final end or the completion of the ages. The feast of Tabernacles will last a thousand biblical years or 985 calender years.

The Feast of Pentecost did not begin at the beginning on the sixth day, and the Feast of Tabernacles will not begin at the beginning of the seventh day. In the fall of 1997 we began the seventh thousand year day. This also started the last 3 1/2 years of the Feast of Pentecost which will bring us into the harvest of the firstfruits of wheat.

The river of God's grace is being diverted and will be poured out through the restored five fold ministry. This will be the last of the former rain and will complete the out pouring of the spirit prophecied by Joel and the restoration of David's Tabernacle Prophecied by Amos. After the 7 year tribulation those that have come to maturity during the Feast of Pentecost will pour out the beginning of the latter rain at the beginning of the millennium or Feast of Tabernacles.

(Most people refer to the first outpouring as the former rain but if you see the feast of pentecost as the later rain, than the later rain came first)

My reply

> I believe all of the Feasts of Israel were fullfilled at Christ death on Passover

I don't know how the fall feasts would have been fulfilled in the spring. Maybe I don't understand what you mean.

> pour out the beginning of the latter rain at the
> beginning of the millennium or Feast of Tabernacles.

The latter rain is in the spring. The Feast of Tabernacles is in the fall.

> In the fall of 1997 we began the seventh thousand year day.

How? Elijah must come first (Mal. 4:5).

> This also started the last 3 1/2 years of the Feast of Pentecost which
> will bring us into the harvest of the firstfruits of wheat.

I think there has to be a gap between the Rapture and the beginning of the Tribulation. Revelation is written as if the Rapture is "at hand" (1:3; 22:10). In Rev. 17:12, the ten kings have no kingdom as yet. That is at the time of the Rapture. In Rev. 13:1, the ten kings are crowned as the Tribulation begins.

> 1. 2001-2007
> ___a.Signing of 7 year peace treaty

I think the 7-year peace treaty will be confirmed (gabor, be stronger) on the Feast of Weeks in 2001, kicking off the Tribulation.

> ___d.Coronation of Jesus
> _____1.United Nations rule simultaneous
> _______with the rule of Christ.
> _____2.Increase of Christ Kingdom with the final battle at Armegeddon in fall 2007

I think UN rule will come to an end Tishri 1, 5768, our Sept. 13, 2007. That is the 2300th day (Dan. 8:14) of the shortened Tribulation. It is Christ's Coronation Day, the Marriage of the Lamb and the Judgment Seat of Christ in Heaven and the Day of God's Wrath on Earth. I think Christ will return the following Nisan (our April 6, 2008). Then after the Judgment of the Nations, Armageddon will break out when dominion is taken away from Satan.

> 1517-2007 = 490 years of restoration

Also, the Jewish year 5278 (our 1517) + 490 = 5768 (our 2007/2008, starting Tishri 1, 5768, our Sept. 13, 2007).

> 1967-2007 = 40 years last generation
> 1993-2007 = 7 good years & 7 lean

I agree. We agree on the major framework and disagree on minor points. How did you decide that Pentecost was 2000 years? I know you said, "measurements of the Holy Place of 10x 10 x 20=2000," but that is not enough reason to decide that Pentecost is 2000 years. What ties it to Pentecost?

It seems as if you have done quite a bit of work on this, and you have hit the mark on major things. I just don't understand all of it. God bless your studies.
