Pro and Con 28
Thank you for your excellent prophesy site.
I recently visited Israel and enquired of our Jewish tour guide whether they recognised the "Fig Tree" as a symbol representing Israel. He denied that the symbol existed. Have you any information linking the Christian practise of using the fig tree symbol to the nation of Israel?
I am glad you like my Web site.
Here are verses that show that the fig tree represents Israel:
Joel 1:6,7: "For a nation (Babylon) is come up upon my land, strong, and without number...He hath laid my vine waste, and barked my fig tree: he hath made it clean bare."
Hosea 9:10: "I found Israel like grapes in the wilderness: I saw your fathers as the firstripe in the fig tree."
The reason Jesus cursed the fig tree during Passion Week is because Israel, nationally, had no fruit. She was given 40 years of probation and then Jerusalem and the temple were burned in 70 A.D.
Modern Israel grew leaves (Sinai, West Bank, Golan Heights and Gaza Strip) during the Six-Day War of 1967, fulfilling the Fig Tree Parable of Matthew 24:32-34. She has been given 40 years of probation and then destruction will strike again. (1967 + 40 = 2007)
After the Rapture of the Bride of Christ, Israel has four years of grace to come around. Jesus will come four years (1998, 1999, 2000, and 2001) to check for fruit on his fig tree. When there is none, the Tribulation will begin.
Luke 13:6-9 says, "He spake also this parable: A certain man (Christ) had a fig tree (Israel) planted in his vineyard (the world); and he came and sought fruit thereon, and found none. Then said he unto the dresser of his vineyard, Behold, these three years (from Sivan 6, 5758, 5759, and 5760, our 1998, 1999, and 2000) I come seeking fruit on this fig tree, and find none: cut it down; why cumbereth it the ground? And he answering said unto him, Lord, let it alone this year (till Sivan 6, 5761, our 2001) also, till I shall dig about it, and dung it: And if it bear fruit, well: and if not, then after that thou shalt cut it down."
On Tishri 1, 5768, the Feast of Trumpets, the first day of the millennial Day of the Lord, Israel will be attacked by the united nation's army under the leadership of Gog. Israel will blow the alarm on the trumpets and the Lord will come to fight her battle for her.
Ezek. 38:18f says, "And it shall come to pass at the same time when Gog shall come against the land of Israel, saith the Lord GOD, that my fury shall come up in my face....Surely in that day there shall be a great shaking in the land of Israel; So that the fishes of the sea, and the fowls of the heaven, and the beasts of the field, and all creeping things that creep upon the earth, and all the men that are upon the face of the earth, shall shake at my presence (translated 'sight' in Eze. 36:31; this is the Sign of the Son of Man), and the mountains (a binary asteroid splits; one piece impacts at noon (Zeph. 2:4,5) in the Mediterranean Sea, the other destroys Babylon on the Euphrates) shall be thrown down, and the steep places shall fall, and every wall shall fall to the ground....And I will plead against him (Gog) with pestilence and with blood; and I will rain upon him, and upon his bands, and upon the many people that are with him, an overflowing rain (shower, i.e., a tsunami), and great hailstones, fire, and brimstone. Thus will I magnify myself, and sanctify myself; and I will be known in the eyes (the Sign of the Son of Man will be seen) of many nations, and they shall know that I am the LORD."
Only 1/6th of the invading army will be left alive (Ezek. 39:2). Israel will spend seven months burying the dead to cleanse the land (39:12), and then the Lord will return (39:13).
I read what you had on your page about the rapture date, it might be off a little bit.
Rapture is on a Wednesday after 3 AM. its close.
Wednesday Afternoon An important feature in the Jewish marriage concerns the day upon which marriages were allowed to occur. Alfred Edersheim, in his book, "Sketches of Jewish Social Life." notes that Jewish law specifies certain constraints for timing ceremony : "Marriage with a maiden was celebrated on a Wednesday afternoon which allowed the first days of the for preparation.... Marriages were not celebrated either on the Sabbath, or on the day before or after it, lest the Sabbath-rest should be endangered
Marriages were not allowed on Friday, Saturday, or Sunday. Prophetically, this constraint may be understood by viewing the days of the Jewish week as typical of; Shavuah -- the Sabbatical cycle of seven years. Also, the weekly Sabbath was a prophetic type of the seventh year which designated as a Shmitah, or Sabbatical Year.
The festival of Rosh HaShanah.
This festival of trumpets, considered one long day, is actually observed for two days The twenty-four hour period takes forty-eight days. eight hours to transpire in every time zone around the world. 72 hour day around the earth. One long day
( Judegement )
Its observation for two days also points up the importance of Rosh HaShanah as more than just a Jewish observance. All nations are in view as the books are opened and the judgment set.
1 T ......1998-99? Rosh HaShanah The Feast of Trumpets is observed for two days.
2 F.......1999-2000? Rosh HaShanah
3........ Sabbath 2000-01? Fast of Gedaliah Jews observe his assassination in 587 B.C., following the destruction of Solomon's Temple,
4 S...... 2001-02? High Priest is sequestered in the Temple for the next seven days.
No rapture is possible during this time.
5 M .........2002-03?
9 F........... 2006-07?..... Kaparot ritual
This ritual involves sacrificing a rooster and putting the intrals out where birds can eat them. It is prophetic of the battle of Armageddon.
10 Sabbath 2007-08? Yom Kippur
The High Priest enters the Holy of Holies and emerges after presenting vials or bowls of for the atonement of the nation - a prophetic picture of Messiah's return to the earth with power and great glory (Revelation 19).
The Sunday Rapture is the espousal, not the marriage. I expect the Marriage of the Lamb to take place on Thursday, Tishri 1, 5768.
I read your web site. It was very interesting.
Have you been watching the man called Bartholomew I (his name means son
of Talmai) (Talmai means abounding in furrows). His title is
Ecumencial Patriarch of the Orthodox Church. The seat of the Orthodox
Church is in Istanbul. This man is a gentile (Greek). Istanbul is a
city of 7 hills just as Rome is. The orthodox church and the catholic
church before 1054 AD were one church. Then they excommunicated each other for many reasons.
Could this man be the false prophet. He just received the
Congressional Gold Medal of Honor from Pres. Clinton. This man
advocates environmentalism. He wants to clean up the earth, especially
around the Black Sea. I don't know what all of this means, but to me
he seems a significant figure coming out of nowhere onto the political
and religious scene. He has received great honors, more than any other
religious figure in this century in the U.S. Keep your eye on him.
Glad you find my Web site interesting. I just want everyone to get ready so they will be caught up in the Rapture of the Bride of Christ. We want to be perfect in the Lord's eyes.
The Holy Spirit is withholding the appearance of the False Prophet, but when the first Rapture takes place, there will be a Pope in office. Whoever he is, it is likely that he will be elected head of the world government after we are gone. He will rule 3 1/2 years, then the Israeli False Prophet will take over.
Let me say I throughly enjoyed your article on the rapture in 1998, well written, new insight and unlike other articles, it is presented in a manner that is not dogmatic. Thank you
Like many others I know, I believe we will know when it is "rapture time",but God will do it in a way that only a born again believer in Jesus Christ will know. Whether it is through revelation of a date, an event or the inward witness, it remains to be seen. I do know that Enoch, Noah, Elijah, Elisha, The school of prophets all knew when it was time to leave this earth, even Jesus knew the time of his departure.
I have always wandered "how will He do it"? Well, I saw something in the scriptures a few months ago that really witnessed to me.
Two passages in the word have always puzzled me:
1.) Matthew 27:52-53 And the graves were opened; and many bodies of the saints which slept arose, and came out of the graves after his resurrection, and went into the holy city, and appeared unto many.
I have never heard this passage explained or taught on the significance or purpose of this event. It seems to be thrown in for no apparent reason. I believe it was given as an example of a future event.
If you read Josephus the historian, he has recorded that as many as 25,000 dead were seen in the city during that time
2.)1 Thessalonians 4:16-17 For the Lord himself shall descend from heaven with a shout, with the voice of the archangel, and with the trump of God: and the dead in Christ shall rise first: Then we which are alive [and] remain shall be caught up together with them in the clouds, to meet the Lord in the air: and so shall we ever be with the Lord.
Two points here.
1. Why the dead in Christ first? Why not all of us at one time? 2. I have always read and heard these two verses,16 & 17, read together, as a continuous verse, but there is a pause or a break between them, to me indicating a period of time between the dead rising and those that are alive.
Could it be that the dead in Christ will rise first and walk this earth for a period of time and alert those of us which are alive and sealed with the Holy Spirit to the event we call "the rapture".
The world wouldn't know because they couldn't perceive them. Jesus walked the 40 days after His ressurection, before he ascended, and walked and talked with only a select few, those that belived in Him
Food for Thought
I appreciate your kind remarks about my Web page.
You bet this is food for thought. I have never thought of this before. My first feeling is that the Rapture is too fast for this because Jesus said, "Surely I come quickly. Amen" (Rev. 22:20).
Also, there is nothing that warned the wise and foolish virgins ahead of time (Mt. 25:1-13). Then the foolish did not have time to buy more oil. If they had been warned, wouldn't they already have enough oil?
...What I appreciate about your material is that you go back to the Word andstrive to rightly divide it.
Have you noticed the similarity between Luke 13 and Matt 25? In Luke 13 and Matt 25 they say "Lord open up for us!". In Matt 25 they are called foolish virgins- saved, doing ok, looking for the return of the Lord but not enough oil in their lamps. They just missed it. In Luke 13 they appear to be another kind of christian- one that is involved in evildoing (hypocrites). The net result is the same though.. You can miss it by an inch or you can miss it by a mile. But to miss it is to miss it.
I have been doing some study on the brides in the OT that have some very interesting application for us today. One of my callings is prayer. Some 4-6 months ago the Lord changed my focus from current events, the government, media etc. to the church and the need for repentance. Then my prayer focused more on revival in the church. Then it settled on the need to be prepared to be the bride of Christ. This was before I ran into your material or anyone else's.
Since then I have had many confirmations from the Lord that this is his absolute priority for the church. This past August John Beckett of Intercessors for America wrote:
"Last fall I had the opportunity to participate in one of the most important prayer meetings I've ever attended. Intercessory leaders fromover twenty countries gathered in Mexico, attempting to discern God's priorities for these last days. Our conclusion was that He is urging believers to focus in four primary areas:
The Great Commission
The preparation of the Bride
The restoration and redemption of Israel
The Second Coming of the Lord
These major themes are breathtaking in scope and awesome in their implications."
My heart is overwhelmed these days with the sense of His presence and nearness and what is about to take place.
...I want to thank you for mentioning Luke 13. I went to verses 24-28. That is my message exactly. It says,
"Strive to enter in at the strait gate: for many, I say unto you, will seek to enter in, and shall not be able. When once the master of the house is risen up, and hath shut to the door, and ye begin to stand without, and to knock at the door, saying, Lord, Lord, open unto us; and he shall answer and say unto you, I know you not whence ye are: Then shall ye begin to say, We have eaten and drunk in thy presence, and thou hast taught in our streets. But he shall say, I tell you, I know you not whence ye are; depart from me, all ye workers of iniquity. There shall be weeping and gnashing of teeth, when ye shall see Abraham, and Isaac, and Jacob, and all the prophets, in the kingdom of God, and you yourselves thrust out."
> the need to be prepared to be the bride of Christ.
You certainly are on the right track. That is God-given insight.
I am an Afrikaner from South Africa and would like to mention some things oncerning the Rapture of 1998.
First of all I would like to thank you for your dedication to the End -time Events.I am also a believer of the Rapture and other events but didn't have certainty about some things. After reading your website my questions were answered and I can only thank God for clearing it up.
Whilst reading "Why I expect the Rapture on Pentecost, 1998" I somehow got a feeling that it won't take place in 1998 but rather on a later date. As one cannot rely on feelings I found the answer in the SCRIPTURE and would like to share it with you.
I urge you not to see this as criticism because I personally do agree with your dates. It is just that when it doesn't happen there must be a reason for and I feel the reason will be as follow.
"Then the kingdom of heaven shall be likened to ten virgins who took theirlamps and went to meet the bridegroom".
This verse indicates that the virgins knew exactly when the bridegroom will arrive, just as you have indicated the date through Scripture.
"While the bridegroom lingered and was slow in coming, they all began nodding their heads, and they fell asleep.
This verse indicates that the bridegroom was late for some reason and didn't arrive on the time that he should.
Personally I am so sure that it will happen this way with the result that some Christians will fall asleep after Pentecost 1998 saying "No man knows the time" (foolish virgins) and carry on with their lives, whilst the others will fall asleep saying "He is slow in coming" (wise virgins) and still awaits Him.
However I am looking forward to May 1998 hoping that He will come but on the other hand I will also take flasks of oil along in case He lingers.
I would appreciate it if you give me your views on this.
Another interesting story that I have read in one of our local newspapers is whilst Boris Yeltsin was visiting China asking them to sign the nuclear treaty, the reason they gave for not signing it was that a asteroide called Wormwood was on its way to earth and their scientists needs nuclear technology to destroy it. Since then I've never read about Wormwood again and I wonder if you can give me info on this to get more details about this meteorite or asteroide called Wormwood.
Personally, I think the Rapture will take place next Pentecost. However, if it does not, I will keep right on being patient and expecting it before the Tribulation begins. It can't be far away, however you look at it.
Wormwood is the name of the asteroid that Satan lives on. It will fall like "a great star ('aster') from heaven, burning as it were a lamp....And the name of the star is called Wormwood" (Rev. 8:10,11). This asteroid is a broken piece of Satan's planet Rahab, now our Asteroid Belt. And "to him (Satan) was given the key (the asteroid) of the bottomless pit, And he opened the bottomless pit; and there arose a smoke out of the pit (because of the asteroid impact), as the smoke of a great furnace; and the sun and the air were darkened by reason of the smoke of the pit" (Rev. 9:1,2).
There will be only one Rapture, and it will be take place almost simultaneously with the Second Coming...If you read Revelation 16:15, you will see where Jesus tells the Church to expect His return (and to 'be awake' at His coming). I have asked many well known Bible commentators why Jesus would split the passage regarding Armageddon into three specific verses; none of them could (or would) answer the question. The reason they would not answer is that the plain context of Revelation 16:15 declares (in Jesus' own words) that, "Behold, I come like a thief!. Be awake ...", and this is just prior the the actual day of Armageddon. Why did Jesus tell us (the Church) to 'beawake' just prior to Armageddon if we were already Raptured at a previous time? People such as: Chuck Missler, Hank Hannegraf, Greg Koukle, Greg Laurie, Marv Rosenthal, Ron Rhodes, Craig Hawkins have noexplanation as to why our Lord split the passage of Armageddon; onlyPastor John McClure (Vineyard) would agree that the reason is because Jesus expects for us to be here (on earth) up until Amageddon (but not during Armageddon)! If not, what is your explanation for His emphatic warning to be awake? Notice that this warning is written to the Church; reference Rev 3:2-3, where Jesus clearly gives the same warning to the Churches: 1) coming 'like a thief'; 2) to be awake; and 3) to have clean garments.
You should prepare yourself 'spiritually' (and warn your friends) to "endure to the end" (which is found in Rev 16:17, "It is done"); according to our Lord, you should expect a pre-Armageddon Rapture; that is exactly what the Word says. What ever theory that does not line up with Jesus' warning in Revelation 16:15 is not scriptural...prepare yourself to stand against the anti-Christ (and against his 'mark', don't be deceived!).The 'mark of the beast' is coming, and we (the Church) will be here to make our decision; trust God, or trust 'man' for your existence during the 3 1/2 years of the 'great' tribulation. Our Lord has also warned us that whoever tries to save their life will lose it...will you voluntarily stay during the 'great' tribulation in order to try to save one more lost soul, for the love of Jesus ???
> There will be only one Rapture, and it will be take place almost

Rev. 14:15,16 is talking about a time not too long before Armageddon. That is when Jesus comes as a thief. That is the Second Rapture. The Bride of Christ left Earth in Rapture One in Rev. 4:1, before the Tribulation.
Rev. 16:14 says, "For they are the spirits of devils, working miracles, which go forth unto the kings of the earth and of the whole world, to gather them to the battle of that great day of God Almighty." This is the first day of the millennial Day of the Lord, the day the united nations army under the leadership of Gog attacks Israel.
Rev. 16:15 says, "Behold, I come as a thief, Blessed is he that watcheth, and keepeth his garments, lest he walk naked, and they see his shame." This is Rapture two. It takes place that same day that Gog attacks Israel. This is not Armageddon.
Rev. 16:16 says, "And he gathered them together into a place called in the Hebrew tongue Armageddon." This battle takes place after the Second Advent, after dominion is taken away from Satan at the Judgment of the Nations. It is Satan's last ditch stand. It is between Christ's forces and Satan's forces. It is over seven months after Rapture Two.
> Why did Jesus tell us (the Church) to 'be
> awake' just prior to Armageddon if we were already Raptured at a
> previous time?
The Bride of Christ is raptured before the Tribulation. Those are the wise virgins, the Philadelphians.
The foolish virgins, the Laodiceans, and the Tribulation saints are raptured on the 2,300th day of the shortened Tribulation, on the Feast of Trumpets that begins the millennial Day of the Lord.
> Notice that this warning is written to the
> Church; reference Rev 3:2-3, where Jesus clearly gives the same
> warning to the Churches: 1) coming 'like a thief'; 2) to be awake;
> and 3) to have clean garments.
This warning is not written to the Bride of Christ, only the Laodicean types who are left behind the first time.
Rev. 3:3 says, "If therefore thou shalt not watch, I will come on thee as a thief (i.e., near the time of Armageddon), and thou shalt not know what hour I will come upon thee." The ones who watch will know what hour he will come upon us. They will be ready at the first Rapture. The foolish will be left behind and be caught up when Jesus comes as a thief.
> will you voluntarily stay during the
> 'great' tribulation in order to try to save one more lost soul, for
> the love of Jesus ???
No. I want to win the best prize of all, to be chosen as the Bride of Christ. Jesus will not leave himself without a witness during the Tribulation. A great multitude will be saved during that time (Rev. 7:9,14).
My heartfelt thanks to all who like my Web Site. God's wonderful blessings on you all. May we meet at the assembly in Heaven right after the Rapture.
