A tremendous explosion took place on the surface of the Sun last Tuesday (June 8) and for a few very nervous hours astronomers did not know whether it was heading for Earth.

The blast threw a jet of superheated plasma carrying magnetic energy into space at speeds of 1,000 kilometres per second (600 miles per second)....The explosive event was "a real planet-buster", according to Dr Richard Fisher of Nasa's Goddard Space Flight Centre...."When the coronal mass ejection was observed we were not sure whether the mass ejection was moving toward the Earth or directly away from the Earth" said Paal Brekke, SOHO Deputy Project Scientist....Fortunately, it was soon established that the CME was headed directly away from the Earth - this time.

This blue-green comet was discovered Apr. 16, 1999, by Steven Lee. It is not periodic like Halley's, or long-period like Hale-Bopp. It is coming almost straight into our Solar System from interstellar space. It's orbital arc seems to be tightening in toward Earth rather than the usual arcing outward. It is not thought to be threatening to hit Earth, but it might perturb something else that would eventually impact Earth. It might affect weather. It may also be what has been causing the mysterious sun flares of the last 6 months.

Note: We had comet Hyakutake in 1996, Hale-Bopp in 1997, SOHO 98J1 in 1998, and now comet C/1999 H1 (LEE) in 1999. Isn't that a bit unusual to say the least?

I haven't had a chance to read your page for some time so I am catching up. I ran into something on P&C 335 that has me "stumped". The term apostasy has always meant, at least in my mind, the great falling away of the church at the end times. I have always heard it taught this way and I am wondering about the statement you made: (apostasia, departing, i.e., the rapture). A few paragraphs before you mention ( He be not revealed before the "apostasia," departing, AS IN DIVORCE, "apostacion, i.e.., the rapture.)

Please clarify this incredible change in terms as I have looked in several dictionaries and they all coincide with the teaching I have received since I was a child (I still am in so many ways). There are also other places in the scriptures that this term is used and/or alluded to. I am not trying to be contrary but I want to know the truth at all costs. I think well of you and plan on posting an E-mail to that effect when I have time to get all my thoughts together in the meantime....Thanks for you help.

In II Thess. 2:3, the Greek "he apostasia" means "the departure" and was so translated in early versions, including The Geneva Bible, Tyndale's translation, Cranmer's version, the Great Bible, Breecher's Bible, Beza's translation and the Coverdale Bible. The note in the margin of the New Scofield Reference Bible says, "Gk. he apostasia meaning the rebellion or the departure." It is from the root "aphistemi," to withdraw oneself, desert a station in life, remove, go away, absent oneself from, depart.

In II Thess. 2:2, the KJV, unfortunately, has "day of Christ." Most major MSS have day of the Lord. These have Day of the Lord: Vatican Codex, Alexandrine Codex, Sinaitic Codex, Griesbach, Lachmann, Tischendorf, 8th Ed., Tregelles, Alford, Wordsworth.

The Day of the Lord is the Millennium. The first day of the 1000 is the Day of God's Wrath on the 2300th day (Dan. 8:14) of the Tribulation. We know that the Day of the Lord can't come until after Elijah comes. Mal. 4:5 says, "Behold, I will send you Elijah the prophet before the coming of the great and dreadful day of the LORD."

Elijah and Moses prophesy during the first half of the Tribulation. Therefore, the Day of the Lord cannot come at least until after Mid-Trib, when Moses and Elijah are killed. The Wicked one, the man of sin, the son of perdition, "Even him, whose coming is after the working of Satan with all power and signs and lying wonders" (II Thess. 2:9), is the False Prophet (Rev. 13:13,14) that kills Moses and Elijah when he comes to power. His time to rule is during the last half of the Tribulation, called the Great Tribulation. However, he will be revealed to those that know their Bibles when he and The Beast of Rev. 13:4-10 confirm (sign) the 7-year peace treaty as the Tribulation begins.

In II Thess. 2, Paul is pleading for them to understand what he had told them before. He started out with, "NOW we BESEECH YOU, brethren (believers), by the coming of our Lord Jesus Christ, and by our GATHERING TOGETHER UNTO HIM." This gathering is "episunagoge, a complete collection, spec, a Christian meeting for worship, assembling together. He was talking about Christ coming for us at the Pre-Trib Rapture, and taking us to the "general assembly...written in heaven" of Heb. 12:23.

In the first chapter (6-12), Paul was addressing those who were "shaken in mind" and "troubled," supposing that the Day of the Lord was already at hand. He said, "to you who are troubled REST WITH US (i.e., in Heaven), when the Lord Jesus shall be revealed from heaven (the Sign of the Son of Man, Mt. 24:30) with his mighty angels, In flaming fire taking VENGEANCE ON THEM THAT KNOW NOT GOD, and that obey NOT the gospel of our Lord Jesus Christ...Wherefore also we pray always for you (i.e., that obey the gospel of Christ), that our God would COUNT YOU WORTHY OF THIS CALLING (the 'Come up hither' at the Pre-Trib Rapture)...That the name of our Lord Jesus Christ may be glorified in you, and ye in him (i.e., ye be glorified in Him), according to the grace of our God and the Lord Jesus Christ."

This "COUNT YOU WORTHY" means the same as "that ye may be ACCOUNTED WORTHY TO ESCAPE ALL THESE THINGS" of Lu. 21:36.

In II Thess. 2:3,4, Paul said, "Let no man deceive you by any means: for that day (the Day of the Lord) shall not come, EXCEPT there come a falling away (apostasia, departing, i.e., the Pre-Trib Rapture) FIRST, and that man of sin be revealed (SECOND), the son of perdition (False Prophet); Who opposeth and exalteth himself above all that is called God, or that is worshipped; so that he as God sitteth in the temple of God, shewing himself that he is God" (in the middle of the Tribulation). This departing is leaving, as one party leaves when there is a divorce (Gr., apostacion).

Paul then seems to have thought to himself, "Don't you remember?" He had taught them this before. In 2:5, he wrote, "Remember ye not, that, when I was yet with you, I TOLD YOU these things?" He is not teaching them a new doctrine, but what he had already told them face to face.

Since the "he who now letteth will let" in verse 7 is Old English for he who now hindereth will hinder, instead of quoting the KJV, I will quote II Thess. 2:6-10 from the very literal Concordant Version. It is easier to understand.

It says, "And now you are aware what is detaining, for him (the Wicked one) to be UNVEILED IN HIS OWN ERA [the Tribulation]. For the secret of lawlessness is already operating. ONLY WHEN THE PRESENT DETAINER [the Holy Spirit, restraining in the present era] may be COMING TO BE OUT OF THE MIDST [as he takes the Raptured saints that he indwells to Heaven first], THEN [second] will be unveiled the lawless one (whom the Lord Jesus will despatch with the spirit of His mouth and will discard by the advent of His presence), whose presence is in accord with the operation of Satan, with all power and signs and false miracles (Rev. 13:13,14) and with every seduction of injustice among those who are perishing, because they do not receive the love of the truth for their salvation."

The era of the False Prophet is the Tribulation. It is the Seventieth Week of Daniel (Dan. 9:27). It is the fifth cycle of discipline for Israel (Lev. 26:28). It is not our era. We are of the church era.

After the Pre-Trib Rapture of Rev. 4:1 and before the first seal is broken in Rev. 6 to kick off the Tribulation, we see the church saints in Heaven. They are "out of every kindred, and tongue, and people, and nation" and have been (past tense) made "unto our God kings and priests" (Rev. 5:9,10). The Pre-Trib Rapture is FIRST, and the beginning of the Tribulation SECOND. "The Lord knoweth how to DELIVER the godly out of temptations (FIRST), and to reserve the unjust (SECOND) unto the day of judgment to be punished" (II Pet. 2:9).

Rev. 3:10, in the Concordant Version, says, "...I love you. Seeing that you keep the word of My endurance, I, also, WILL BE KEEPING YOU OUT OF THE HOUR OF TRIAL (FIRST) which is ABOUT TO BE COMING (SECOND) on the WHOLE INHABITED EARTH to try those dwelling on the earth. I AM COMING SWIFTLY! (at the Rapture) HOLD WHAT YOU HAVE, that no one may be taking your wreath" (crown)...Who has an ear, let him hear what the spirit is saying to the ecclesias" (the called out ones).

The Greek "ekklesia" is from "ek" (out of) and a derivitive of "kaleo," to call. Members of the church are the called out ones. They are called out, i.e., hear the "Come up hither" (Rev. 4:1) FIRST. The Tribulation comes SECOND. It is the fifth cycle of discipline upon Israel. It takes place after the church era ends.

In Tit. 2:12-14, Paul said, "Teaching us that, denying ungodliness and worldly lusts, we should live soberly, righteously, and godly, IN THIS PRESENT WORLD (aioni, age, or era): Looking for (prosdechomai, AWAITING) that BLESSED HOPE, and the GLORIOUS APPEARING of the great God and our Saviour Jesus Christ; Who gave himself for us, that he might redeem us FROM ALL INIQUITY, and purify unto himself a peculiar people, zealous of good works." We are to be be redeemed from all iniquity in this present era. We are not told to await the appearing of the Wicked one. We are told to await our blessed hope and the appearing of Christ. Agape

Subject: left behind ?
I have been reading your web page for over a year now. I sent a letter not long ago about the two Raptures and I am still having trouble with it. I have been saved by Christ for many years. If only the best part of the bride of Christ is going in the first one would it not be better to confess every possible thing I can remember that I have ever done wrong including thoughts that I can think of and then shoot myself to prevent myself from the possibility of thinking a bad thought just before the first Rapture? With all this confessing I will surely have earned my place. Does it not say that the dead in Christ will rise first, meaning all the dead in Christ - no different saved groups to worry about after I'm dead. I know shooting myself is not a good idea but it amounts to the same as worrying myself to death with the fear that I may think even as much as one bad thought at the last moment and not be a member of the half bride group. Ending up under the alter with those saved out of the tribulation is not my idea of the "blessed hope" at this time. (Rev.6: 9)

I am worried to because it is said in Eph 5:30 "For we are members of His body, of His flesh, and of His bones". If I am with the half bride that is left behind, which part of our Lord's body is He leaving behind? "For He has said, I will never leave thee, nor forsake thee." Heb 13:5. Also if I don't make it how can I explain this to the tribulation unsaved that I will be warning? Won't it be difficult, as well, for me to be witnessing and preaching the Gospel of The Kingdom without having the Holy Spirit ? - 2 Thes. 2:7&8. I won't be sealed like the 144,000.

The "oil" in the lamps is the Holy Spirit. If a member of a local church isn't saved they can still walk the walk (and talk the talk) but when the moment comes they will be left behind because of no "oil". I once met a preacher's kid that almost lived in a church then confessed in her early thirties that she was never saved until then. She walked the walk, would have "went out with the body", but having no oil would not have been taken if the Lord had come before then. Maybe there is another verse that better explains this not uncommon situation in our churches today, but I haven't read it. I honestly believe/pray the Rapture will happen this year. With the exception of the part about some of the Church saved body being left behind, my sole rejoices in your writings. Thanks for all your hard work and may God bless you and yours richly for it. I can't believe you are serious. If you shot yourself, that sin would be against your record. We are not told how much oil we need to go in the Rapture. The Lord is fair. One of his attributes is perfect justice. Confess what you can think of, do your best to live the way God wants us to live, confess immediately any time you slip, and relax. God didn't mean for the abundant life to be a life of fear.

Micah 6:8 says, "He hath shewed thee, O man, what is good; and what doth the LORD require of thee, but to do justly, and to love mercy, and to walk humbly with thy God?" What He has not made hard, we should not make hard. The Pharisees tried that. Jesus said that his yoke is easy. Believe it. Mt. 11:30 says, "my yoke is easy, and my burden is light."

Once sealed, always sealed. You can't lose it. You are sealed till the day of redemption, regardless of when that is. Agape

I have the Jewish Talmudic Calendar. Here are the feast days they list in this order, Passover (Nisan 15), Pentecost (Sivan 6,7), Trumpets (Tishri 1,2), Atonement (Tishri 10), and Tabernacles (Tishri 15). They omit Unleavened Bread and Firstfruits. :-)

Just a thought -- if the beginning of the church age came 50-some days after the last time that water flowed out of the Cornerstone (i.e., on Calvary - John 19:34), might the current flow of water (during the Second Passover) provide a precise time marker for the end of the church age? Agape :-)

I got a FAX (yesterday). It was sent from a library. Evidently the sender accesses my Web page from the library. He does not think the Talmudic Calendar is correct, and it may not be. I have an open mind on the calendar business and would like more information on the subject.

Note: Someone must have heard me. I got another FAX today, of Feast Days, calculated astronomically. It may have been generated by a computer program. It says "CALCULATED BIBLICAL HOLY DAYS Ver 9.3." The first day of Abib/Nisan is listed after the Vernal Equinox and after the sliver of the Moon is visible. Labombarbe figured from the dark moon. However, both agree on Sun. June 20, 1999 for Pentecost. I don't understand how Unleavened Bread and Firstfruits can be the same day in 1999. If Pentecost can be 23 Jun in 2002 and 24 Jun in 2007, then it can fall in the summer. Mr. Herman Hoeh thought it had to be in the spring. However, in 2007, If Abib was set back one new moon, it would start before the Vernal Equinox. That doesn't sound right. There has to be grain at Firstfruits.

(From NZ) I have just read Isaiah 60. Do you think verses 1 thru to 9 is referring to Rapture 2? The rest is referring to Jerusalem in the Millenium I think. I think verse 3 and the reference to Gentiles(nations) and Kings coming to thy light and rising is the Bride? Love

Here is the way it looks to me. In Isa. 57:1-8, we see a progression from the Pre-Trib Rapture to the covenant signed at the beginning of the Tribulation. It says, "THE righteous perisheth (abad, exit, evacuate)...merciful men are taken away...the righteous is TAKEN AWAY FROM THE EVIL TO COME (as in Rev. 3:10). He shall enter into peace: they shall rest in their beds, each one walking in his uprightness. But DRAW NEAR hither (the Tribulation is near), ye sons of the sorceress (Mystery Babylon, Rev. 17:5), the seed of the adulterer and the whore....thou hast discovered thyself to another than me...and made thee a COVENANT with them."

Isa. 57:15 shows where the evacuated ones are taken. It says, "thus saith the high and lofty One that inhabiteth eternity, whose name is Holy; I dwell IN THE HIGH AND HOLY PLACE (i.e., Heaven), WITH HIM also that is of a contrite and humble spirit, to revive the spirit of the humble, and to revive the heart of the contrite ones."

On Earth, "There is no peace, saith my God, to the wicked. CRY aloud, spare not, lift up THY VOICE LIKE A TRUMPET, and shew my people their transgression, and the house of Jacob their sins" (Isa. 57:21; 58:1). This is the Feast of Trumpets, and the "voice like a trumpet" is Christ's.

It is heard first and last and has nothing to do with the seven trumpet judgments that come afterward. The first trump (Rev. 4:1) comes before the first seal is broken in Rev. 6. The last trump comes between (Rev. 7:14) the breaking of the sixth (Rev. 6:12) and seventh seals (Rev. 8). The seven trumpets are sounded by angels. The first and last trumps are Christ talking.

At the first Rapture, Rev. 4:1 says, "a door was opened in heaven: and the first VOICE which I heard was as it were of a TRUMPET talking with me; which said, COME UP HITHER." That was the first trump, heard at the Pre-Trib Rapture. In Isa. 58:1, it is the "LAST TRUMP" (I Cor. 15:52), heard at the Pre-Wrath Rapture. It is the last chance to be in the heavenly group. By that time, "all" believers are caught up. Beyond that, judgment falls on the Earth.

Isa. 57:1,2 explains to those left behind the first time, "BEHOLD, the LORD'S hand is not shortened, that it cannot save; neither his ear heavy, that it cannot hear: But your iniquities have separated between you and your God, and YOUR SINS HAVE HID HIS FACE FROM YOU, THAT HE WILL NOT HEAR" (as in Mt. 25:12). There is still one more chance to be caught up before "he will repay, fury to his adversaries, recompence to his enemies" (Isa. 59:18). It is the Feast of Trumpets, Tishri 1, "When the enemy (Gog's army, Ezek. 38) shall come in like a flood" (Isa. 59:19).

The following is not yet the Second Advent. That is seven months future (Ezek. 39:12), but "THE REDEEMER SHALL COME to Zion, and UNTO THEM THAT TURN FROM TRANSGRESSION in Jacob, saith the LORD. As for me, this is my covenant with them, saith the LORD; My spirit that is upon thee, and my words which I have put in thy mouth, shall not depart out." (Isa. 59:20,21).

As Isa. 60 begins, these redeemed who have turned from transgression hear, "ARISE, shine; for thy light is come, and the glory of the LORD is risen upon thee. For, behold, the darkness (from the asteroid impact at noon, Zech. 2:4,5) SHALL COVER THE EARTH, and gross darkness the people: but the LORD shall arise upon thee, and his glory shall be seen upon thee." When the smoke of the heavens is rolled aside like a scroll (Rev. 6:14), the Sign of the Son of Man of Mt. 24:30 is seen this day. Verse 8 asks, "Who are these that FLY AS A CLOUD, and AS THE DOVES (as the first raptured did, Song of Sol. 2:10-14) to their windows?" These are the ones caught up in the Pre-Wrath Rapture. They fly to Heaven just before (Rev. 7:14) the asteroid impacts Earth (Rev. 8:8,10).

"These are they which came out of great tribulation, and have WASHED THEIR ROBES, and made them white in the blood of the Lamb. Therefore are they before the throne of God, and serve him day and night in his temple: and he that sitteth on the throne shall dwell among them. They shall hunger no more, neither thirst any more; neither shall the sun light on them, nor any heat. For the Lamb which is in the midst of the throne shall feed them, and shall lead them unto living fountains of waters: and God shall wipe away all tears from their eyes" (Rev. 7:14-17).

At the first Rapture, there is a heavenly group (the wise Philadelphian virgins) and an earthly group (the foolish Laodicean virgins). At the second Rapture, there is also a heavenly group and an earthly group. The rest of Isa. 60 seems to have to do with the latter earthly group. They are the Israelites left on Earth to go on into the Millennium. Isa. 60:10-13 says, "for in my WRATH I smote thee, but in my favour have I had mercy on thee...For the nation and kingdom that will not serve thee shall perish...and I will make the place of my feet glorious."

This Feast of Trumpets is the day that earthly Israel is born in a day (Isa. 66:8). Isa. 60:16 says, "and thou shalt KNOW that I the LORD (YHVH) am thy Saviour (YHVHSHUA, Yahshua, Y'shua, Jesus) and thy Redeemer, the mighty One of Jacob" (both man and God). Verse 21 says, "Thy people also shall be all righteous: they shall inherit the land for ever."

The Pre-Wrath Rapture, the Wrath of God, and Israel finally bringing forth her children all take place on one day, the Feast of Trumpets that begins the millennial Day of the Lord. It is the day of Christ's Coronation, the day of the Marriage of the Lamb, the day of the Judgment Seat of Christ and the Marriage Supper of the Lamb.

The Bride is seen in Rev. 19:7,8: "the marriage of the Lamb is come, and his wife HATH MADE HERSELF READY. And to her was granted that she should be arrayed in fine linen, clean and white: for the fine linen is the righteousness (lit. righteousnesses) of saints." The Tribulation saints are those spoken of in Rev. 19:9: "Blessed are they which are called unto the marriage supper of the Lamb."

Christ is our Saviour. His righteousness is imputed to us and will get us into Heaven. However, to be included in the first group assembled is the reward Enoch earned, for "before his translation he had this testimony, that HE PLEASED GOD" (Heb. 11:5). It is the PRIZE Paul earned. In II Tim. 4:7,8 he said, "I have fought a good fight, I have finished my course, I have kept the faith: Henceforth there is laid up for me a crown of righteousness, which the Lord, the righteous judge, shall give me at that day (Pre-Trib Rapture): and not to me only, but unto ALL THEM ALSO THAT LOVE HIS APPEARING." All those of the first Rapture are in Heaven with Paul before the first seal is broken in Rev. 6. That is when Paul gets this "crown of righteousness" that he casts before the throne (Rev. 4:10). It is when the Philadelphians get their crowns (Rev. 3:11).

In Rev. 3:10,11, Jesus speaks to this group. He says, "Because thou hast kept the word of my patience, I also will KEEP THEE FROM the hour of temptation, which shall (afterward) come upon ALL THE WORLD, to try them that dwell upon the earth. Behold, I come quickly: hold that fast which thou hast, that no man take thy crown."

In Isa. 57:1, we see this same group taken away. The "righteous is TAKEN AWAY FROM THE EVIL TO COME."

Life is full of choices. We believers have made a choice and accepted Christ as our Saviour. Now, we are faced with the next choice, will we get rid of the iniquities that separate us from God, or not. To those that choose NOT, they will find Isa. 59:2 true: "your sins have hid his face from you, that he will not hear." We also see this in Mt. 25:11,12: "Afterward came also the other virgins, saying, Lord, Lord, open to us. But he answered and said, Verily I say unto you, I know you not." The Concordant Version has, "I am not acquainted with you." We need to draw close to the Lord.

There are extra rewards associated with those caught up the first time. However, even those left behind the first time can wash their robes in the blood of Christ and be caught up the second time (Rev. 7:14). There is a first trump and a last trump. It would be terrible to get left behind the second time.
