In a bid to form a single global community, a group calling itself the Earth Council has drafted a new "Earth Charter" that calls for all nations to surrender their sovereignty for the "greater good" of a singular global order.
The Charter...was finalized at a meeting held at the United Nations
Educational, Scientific and Cultural Organization, or UNESCO, headquarters
in Paris March 12-14...
A snip of the Charter of United Religions follows:
The global URI organization will be born in June 2000. You are warmly invited to participate in the birth and the growth of the URI and become part of this extraordinary force for good in the world. This Charter is your invitation to participate in its on-going creation. Welcome!
THE PREAMBLE, PURPOSE AND PRINCIPLES
We, people of diverse religions, spiritual expressions and indigenous traditions throughout the world, hereby establish the United Religions Initiative to promote enduring, daily interfaith cooperation, to end religiously motivated violence and to create cultures of peace, justice and healing for the Earth and all living beings.
We respect the uniqueness of each tradition, and differences of practice or belief.
We value voices that respect others, and believe that sharing our values and wisdom can lead us to act for the good of all.
We believe that our religious, spiritual lives, rather than dividing us, guide us to build community and respect for one another.
Therefore, as interdependent people rooted in our traditions, we now unite for the benefit of our Earth community.
We unite to build cultures of peace and justice.
We unite to heal and protect the Earth.
We unite to build safe places for conflict resolution, healing and reconciliation.
We unite to support freedom of religion and spiritual expression, and the rights of all individuals and peoples as set forth in international law....
That's interesting. Paul was caught up to "the third heaven" (Mars, Jupiter, Saturn) (II Cor. 12:2-7). I think the Crucifixion and Second Advent will be on Apr. 6. Our son David's birthday is also Apr. 6.
Also, I have read (I forget the quotations) that "No one comes to the Father except thru Me", and also "No one comes to me unless the Father draws them."
How can one reconcile these seeming contradictions?
If I have a gift for you, have I actually given it to you until you have taken it? No. As long as it is in my hand, it is still mine. Once you reach out and take it, the gift is yours. Jesus offers us the gift of salvation. Only those that take it receive the gift. We have to do something. We have to exercise our wills and consciously accept Christ as our Saviour. Then the gift of salvation is ours.
> > "No one comes to the Father except thru Me", and also "No one comes to me unless the Father draws them."
If we remember that Jesus said, "I and my Father are one" (Jn. 10:30), there is no contradiction. All must come through Christ. I John 2:23 says, "Whosoever denieth the Son, the same hath not the Father: (but) he that acknowledgeth the Son hath the Father also." Agape
Final peace agreement to be signed, Sept. 13, one-world church charter to be signed June 26. Now, these are big-time signs!
To all you pet lovers, there will be animals in heaven. I don't think God would leave my little Yorkie here by herself. He knows when a sparrow falls so your pet is in His inventory. I once said on a pro/con that if my Yorkie was not there I would find the heavenly "Customer Service" and arrange a pick-up for her.
The planetary alignment doesn't have to be a sign, but it does seem neat that the Lord arranged things so it happens now. In this lineup, what planet is #1, reading from left to right? Saturn. What planet is on the extreme right? Earth. Wonder what it took to get that to happen at just this time? They have been orbiting a long long time.
I was studing Genesis today and was at the point where Enoch gets taken. I don't remember if you have covered this in the past but it just hit me so clearly: Enoch was taken (Philidelphia believers) and Elijah is taken up in a whirlwind (the pre-wrath believers taken just before the fire falls). I know you probably covered this but it is so neat when it finally hits you even though you have been over it a hundred times. Have agreat day!
> > Enoch was taken (Philidelphia believers) and Elijah is taken up in a whirlwind (the pre-wrath believers taken just before the fire falls). I know you probably covered this but it is so neat when it finally hits you even though you have been over it a hundred times.
Wow! I know how it feels to see something new. I get goosebumps.
Enoch "was not; for God took him" (Gen. 5:24). No physical body was left behind there. He just was not.
Elijah was taken up in a chariot of fire too. II Ki. 2:11 says, "there appeared a chariot of fire, and horses of fire, and parted them both asunder; and Elijah went up by a whirlwind into heaven." What a picture that was. Following that whirlwind is another. Jer. 23:20 says, "Behold, a whirlwind of the LORD is gone forth in fury, even a grievous whirlwind: it shall fall grievously upon the head of the wicked." Agape
The beautiful church that I am fortunate to belong to, the Church of Jesus Christ of Latter Day Saints, was founded on April 6, 1830. It has always affirmed (was by heavenly revelation) that the true birthday of Jesus Christ was April 6th, not December 25th.
I am glad that there are people taking interest in the signs of the times. I do believe that this will help people get their lives more in order. Our prophet has said that now is the time to prepare ourselves spiritually, financially (like by getting out of debt, if possible), etc, and to strenghen our families. The best time to do this is while things don't seem too pressing, because when the world frays apart, it will be too late to gather much strength. Amen.
On the first page of the last book in the Bible, Jesus said, "I am Alpha and Omega, the beginning and the ending, saith the Lord, which is, and which was, and which is to come, THE ALMIGHTY" (Rev. 1:8). Christ is "THE ALMIGHTY" GOD. On the last page of the last book of the Bible, Jesus said, "I am Alpha AND Omega, the beginning AND the end, the first AND the last" (Rev. 22:13). He is the first (YHVH of hosts, Lord of the Old Testament) AND the last (Yahshua [meaning Yah is salvation], Jesus, Lord of the New Testament). II Cor. 5:19 says, "God was in Christ, reconciling the world unto HIMSELF."
In Isa. 48:12-18, the pre-incarnate Christ said, "I am he; I am the first, I ALSO am the last. Mine hand also hath laid the foundation of the earth, and my right hand hath spanned the heavens: when I call unto them, they stand up together....Come ye near unto me, hear ye this; I have not spoken in secret from the beginning; from the time that it was, there am I: and now the Lord GOD (the Father), and his Spirit (the Holy Spirit), hath sent me (Yahshua/YHVH of hosts/Christ). Thus saith the LORD (YHVH), thy Redeemer (Yahshua), the Holy One of Israel; I am the LORD (YHVH) thy God which teacheth thee to profit, which leadeth thee by the way that thou shouldest go. O that thou hadst hearkened to MY COMMANDMENTS! (at Mt. Sinai) then had thy peace been as a river, and thy righteousness as the waves of the sea."
Isa. 44:6 says, "Thus saith the LORD (YHVH) the King of Israel, AND his redeemer the LORD (YHVH) of hosts; I am the first, AND I am the last; and beside me there is no God." Verse 8 says, "Is there a God beside me? yea, there is no God; I know not any."
Isa. 45:5,6 says, "I am the LORD (YHVH), and there is none else, there is no God beside me...there is none beside me. I am the LORD (YHVH), and there is none else."
Isa. 45:21,22 says, "there is no God else beside me; a just God AND a Saviour; there is none beside me. Look unto me, and be ye saved, all the ends of the earth: for I am God, and there is none else."
Compare what the Bible says with Alma 36:17 in the Book of Mormon. It says, "behold, I remembered also to have heard my father prophesy unto the people concerning the coming of one Jesus Christ, a Son of God, to atone for the sins of the world."
Yahshua/Jesus Christ is not just "a" Son of God, he is God himself. There is no other like him, and there will never be another like him. Your salvation depends upon your accepting the true Christ as your own personal Saviour. There is no other way. He bought you with a terrible price, death on the cross. He took the punishment we deserve so that believers in him would not have to suffer death for our own sins. He offers you salvation as a free gift. All you have to do to receive it is tell him you accept him as your own personal Saviour. I John 2:23 says, "Whosoever denieth the Son, the same hath not the Father: (but) he that acknowledgeth the Son hath the Father also." Agape
That is true. In Scripture, a woman represents a religious group. Thyratira means dominating female. Therefore, the dominating religious group is the Catholic Church.
> > surprised to learn while watching the Catholic tv station that the Church teaches that people must earn their salvation. I never realized this--I always somehow believed that salvation is through faith.
You are right. The difference between salvation by works and salvation by faith is what caused the split during the Reformation. Scripture is very explicit on this. The Catholic Confraternity Version of the Holy Bible says in Ephesians, 2:8-10, "For by GRACE you have been SAVED THROUGH FAITH: and that not from yourselves, for it is THE GIFT OF GOD; NOT AS THE OUTCOME OF WORKS, lest anyone may boast. For his workmanship we are, created in Christ Jesus in good works, which God has made ready beforehand that we may walk in them."
We are supposed to walk in good works, but we are not saved by good works. Isaiah 64:5 (Conf.) says, "all our good deeds are like polluted rags." We couldn't do enough good deeds to be saved by them. The only thing that will save us is our faith in our Lord and Saviour, Jesus Christ. He died on the cross to take the punishment due us, death, so that by believing in Him, we might have eternal life. Salvation is a free gift. We can work for rewards after we are saved though. Salvation and rewards are two different things.
Romans 10:9 (Conf.) makes salvation very clear. It says, "if thou confess with thy mouth that Jesus is the Lord, and believe in thy heart that God has raised him from the dead, thou shalt be saved. For with the heart a man believes unto justice, and with the mouth profession of faith is made unto salvation."
When I still had a reel to reel tape recorder, a friend took it to our church one night to tape a message for me from a man that had been an Augustinian monk, had taught theology in a college in Havana, and still didn't know how to be saved. He said he was afraid he might misinterpret Scripture, so he didn't read it. Can you imagine, he taught it, but didn't read it? He prayed to Mary instead. That will never get one into Heaven. I Timothy 2:5 (Conf.) says, "For there is one God, and ONE MEDIATOR between God and man, himself man, Christ Jesus, who gave himself a ransom for all, bearing witness in his own time." That leaves no room for Mary to be any kind of mediatrix.
This man finally talked to a minister who gave him a tract that explained Salvation. He went home and borrowed a Bible from his neighbor, and read it for himself. He prayed and asked Jesus to be his Saviour that night. Before that, he said it was like the priests told the people to get on the train and they would get them to Heaven. The only problem was that the priests he knew didn't know how to get to Heaven, either. There is a lot of comforting ritual and pious words said, but the real nitty gritty about how to be saved is usually not touched on, and that is so sad.
> > I saw on the Catholic station the Pope in a ceremony/meeting with representatives from many different religions, and he truly looked regal even though he has no power over these groups. It was kind of a frightening picture given the Bible's warning about a one-world religious system.
It is more frightening than you probably know. The charter for the "United Religions" is slated to be signed June 26, 2000. It brings together under one banner all religions of the world, and the Pope is the head of it. The One World planners said, "At the proper moment in history, the Pope will visit the combined Jewish/Christian/Moslem sector of Jerusalem to announce that all religions should be combined into one." You just saw it happen, right on schedule.
> > a movement in Church exists--which Pope may approve--to say that only Mary can be prayed to.
That is the old Queen of Heaven of the Babylonian Mystery Religion cropping up. You see, when Constantine declared Christianity the state religion, he brought pagans into the Christian church. He marched his soldiers through the river to baptize them. Right there, pagan practices got mixed in with Christian practices. For instance, Jesus was born on the Jewish New Year in the fall, but his birthday was celebrated at the same time that the birthday of the pagan Tammuz was celebrated, Dec. 25th.
James 1:5 (Conf.) says, "if any of you is wanting in wisdom, let him ASK IT OF GOD, who gives abundantly to all men, and does not reproach; and it will be given to him."
> > I often find Marian apparitions to be disturbing
So do I. They seem to result in building shrines with idols of Mary in them. How does the Catholic Church get around the commandment against idols? Here is how. On the flyleaf in the front of this Confraternity Bible, Saint Joseph Textbook Edition, I have in front of me, is a list of the 10 commandments. Here is what it says,
"THE TEN COMMANDMENTS 1. I am the Lord Thy God; thou shalt not have strange gods before Me. 2. Thou shalt not take the name of the Lord Thy God in vain. 3. Remember thou keep holy the Sabbath Day. 4. Honor thy father and thy mother. 5. Thou shalt not kill. 6. Thou shalt not commit adultery. 7. Thou shalt not steal. 8. Thou shalt not bear false witness against thy neighbor. 9. Thou shalt not covet thy neighbor's wife. 10. Thou shalt not covet thy neighbor's goods."
In the same Bible, Exodus 20 starts out, "Then God delivered all these commandments: 'I, the Lord, am your God, who brought you out of the land of Egypt, that place of slavery. You shall not have other gods besides me. YOU SHALL NOT CARVE IDOLS for yourselves in the shape of anything in the sky above or on the earth below or in the waters beneath the earth; YOU SHALL NOT BOW DOWN BEFORE THEM OR WORSHIP THEM. For I, the Lord, your God, am a jealous God, inflicting punishment for their fathers' wickedness on the children of those who hate me...'"
Where is that second commandment in the list from the flyleaf of this same Bible? It isn't there. The last commandment is "You shall not covet your neighbor's HOUSE. You shall not covet your neighbor's WIFE, nor his male or female slave, nor his ox or ass, nor anything else that belongs to him." They made two commandments out of one to make up for the second one that they left out, and they reversed the order. The "house" came before the "wife."
> > At least one Marian apparition states that her son will return this year (2000). I wonder if such apparition refers to Anti-Christ masquerading as Jesus.
There is something else that to my knowledge is not taught in the Catholic Church. There is to be a catching away of the wise virgins of Matthew 25 before the Anti-Christ is revealed. I have a copy of a Catholic Greek, Latin, English New Testament Students' Workbook, published by The Liturgical Press, Collegeville, MN. On page 535, the English Confraternity version has "caught up." On the same page, the Latin version has "rapiemur." It is from this word "rapiemur" that we get the English word Rapture for this catching away.
I'll quote I Thessalonians 4:13-18 from the Confraternity. "But we would not, brethren, have you ignorant concerning those who are asleep, lest you should grieve, even as others who have no hope. For if we believe that Jesus died and rose again, so with him God will bring those also who have fallen asleep through Jesus. For this we say to you in the word of the Lord, that we who live, who survive until the coming of the Lord, shall not precede those who have fallen asleep. For the Lord himself with cry of command, with voice of archangel, and with trumpet of God will descend from heaven; and the dead in Christ will rise up first. Then we who live, who survive, shall be CAUGHT UP together with them in clouds to meet the Lord in the air, and so we shall ever be with the Lord. Wherefore, comfort one another with these words."
Christ will come for us in the air before the Anti-Christ is revealed. The dead in Christ will come with him, get their resurrection bodies, then we will rise to meet the Lord in the air. This catching up is called the Rapture, and it is possible that it could happen on Pentecost this year.
Jesus said that believers are the salt of the Earth. Salt in breadmaking retards the growth of leaven, a symbol for evil. As long as we are here, we are retarding the final mushrooming of evil that will culminate in the outpouring of God's Wrath at the end of the shortened Tribulation. If we were to be raptured on June 9 or 10, enough salt would be removed so the real restrainer in us, the Holy Spirit, would not retard the growth of evil any more. This United Religions charter could be signed on time, on June 26, 2000. We will have to wait and see how things play out, but we are seeing endtime events in our news these days. Our days on Earth are growing short, any way you figure it.
2 Thessalonians 2:1-12 (Conf.) says, "We beseech you, brethren by the coming of our Lord Jesus Christ and OUR BEING GATHERED TOGETHER UNTO HIM, not to be hastily shaken from your right mind, nor terrified, whether by spirit, or by utterance, or by letter attributed to us, as though the day of the Lord were near at hand. Let no one deceive you in any way, for the day of the Lord will not come unless the apostasy (Gr. apostasia, the departure, separation, as in apostacion, divorcement, i.e., the Rapture) COMES FIRST, and the man of sin is revealed, the son of perdition, who opposes and is exalted above all that is called God, or that is worshiped, so that he sits in the temple of God and gives himself out as if he were God. Do you not remember that when I was still with you, I used to tell you these things? And now you know what restrains him, that he may be revealed in his proper time. For the mystery of iniquity is already at work; provided only that he who is at present restraining it, does still restrain, until he is gotten out of the way. And then the wicked one will be revealed whom the Lord Jesus will slay with the breath of his mouth and will destroy with the brightness of his coming. And his coming is according to the working of Satan with all power and signs and lying wonders, and with all wicked deception to those who are perishing. For they have NOT RECEIVED THE LOVE OF TRUTH THAT THEY MIGHT BE SAVED. Therefore God sends them a misleading influence that they may believe falsehood, that all may be judged who have not believed the truth, but have preferred wickedness."
In Revelation 3:10,11 (Conf.), Jesus says, "Because thou hast kept the word of my patience, I too will keep thee FROM the hour of trial, which is about to come upon the whole world to try those who dwell upon the earth. I come quickly; hold fast what thou hast, that no one receive thy crown."
Knowing what you know, what should you do besides make sure you are saved? In Revelation 2:24-29 (Conf.), Jesus said, "I say, to the rest in Thyatira, as many as do not hold this teaching and do not know the depths of Satan, as they call them, I WILL NOT PUT UPON YOU ANY OTHER BURDEN. BUT THAT WHICH YOU HAVE, HOLD FAST TILL I COME. And to him who overcomes, and who keeps my works unto the end, I will give authority over the nations. And he shall rule them with a rod of iron, and like the potter's vessel they shall be dashed to pieces, as I also have received from my Father; and I WILL GIVE HIM THE MORNING STAR (Heaven will be a morning star at the time of the spring Rapture; it is an evening star in the fall). He who has an ear, let him hear what the Spirit says to the churches."
As soon as the Rapture takes place, the instructions are radically different. In Revelation 18:4,5, Jesus says, "GO OUT FROM HER, my people, that you may not share in her sins, and that you may not receive of her plagues. For her sins have reached even to heaven, and the Lord has remembered her iniquities."
So, before the Rapture, it is ok to stick tight where you are. Just be sure you are saved. After the Rapture, the foolish virgins who are left behind (Matthew 25) are to get out. The headquarters for the United Religions will be moved to literal Babylon. That is the time to leave in haste as the city is to be destroyed. Revelation 8:10 (Conf.) says, "there fell from heaven a great star, burning like a torch." Revelation 18:21 (Conf.) says, "a strong angel took up a stone, as it were a great millstone, and cast it into the sea, saying, 'With this violence will Babylon, the great city, be overthrown, and will not be found any more."
I am so proud of you for thinking for yourself instead of being brainwashed. I would love to meet you at or following the Rapture. I think you're going to make it. God loves you and will bless you. Hang tight. We're almost home.
One more thing. When we accept Christ as our own personal Saviour, every sin we ever committed is wiped off the books. We are as pure virgins filled with the oil of the Holy Spirit and ready to go when the Bridegroom comes for his Bride. As soon as we sin afterward we are as foolish virgins without enough oil in our vessels. We must confess that sin TO GOD, so he can cleanse us from all unrighteousness. I John 1:9 (Conf.) says, "If we acknowledge our sins, he is faithful and just to forgive us our sins and to cleanse us from all iniquity." Agape, Marilyn
