THE RAPTURE and THE 70th WEEK, by Rabbi Reuben ben Gershom Goossens

When I first came to know Y'Shua as my Lord and Saviour, I was led by the Lord, blessed be He, not to read any books written by man, no matter how good they might have been, but to concentrate only on God's precious Word. Having an understanding of the Hebrew Scriptures, the Lord opened up so much from the Tenach (the Old Testament) which I had never seen, nor known before. Now with new eyes, with scales removed, wherever I looked, I could see My precious Saviour in the heart of the Tenach, as the Lord continued to reveal so many gleaming gems, treasures, in His Word. From the blessed understanding the Lord was giving me of His Word, came the teaching which I have been blessed to share with the Body in Messiah Y’Shua throughout Australia and the world for over twenty one years and now in this book. As a young believer in Y’Shua, when it came to Christian Theology and thinking, let alone Christian terminology, one must realise, being an orthodox Jew I had no knowledge of these things, thus I had no preconceived ideas, especially in relation to things like the Rapture. "The Rapture, what is that?" I would have asked, had anyone spoken to me of it. I had never heard of it as a Jew nor as an early believer. It was by reading the Word how I came to understand that the faithful in Y’Shua had to be taken before the Tribulation would commence. Where did I find this revelation? Was it in the New Testament or from other saints? No, I first discovered this truth in the Tenach. In fact this discovery came from the very same chapter (Daniel 9) when the Lord God, blessed be He, so clearly spoke to me and led me to my Saviour, the Lord Y'Shua, on that wonderful and blessed evening in December 1977. Thus beloved, Daniel chapter 9 contains one of the most powerful confirmations that the faithful in Y'Shua (those that lived and those that remain when He comes) must be "caught up and meet the Lord in the air" prior the 70th Week!...

***Praise the Lord. This Jewish man found Y'Shua in the OT. He approached the scriptures like I did, reading what God said first, before reading what man said about it. He is proof that God will speak to man through his Word if he will just read it. He came to accept Y'Shua, and now quotes the New Testament to prove what he knew already from reading the OT, even Lu. 21:36. I don't agree with everything he says, but he understands the Pre-Trib Rapture as many Messianic Jews do not. The Lord has blessed him with understanding. Read on to see how Dan. 9 showed him the way.

It is important the faithful in the Lord, have understanding of the Rapture and the 70th Week, for this understanding will affect the way we share the Lord Y'Shua with others, especially to the people of Israel. Due to a lack of Scriptural understanding, a well-known ministry based in Israel stated "There is no urgency for the Jews to come to the Lord now, they will have their time later." Indeed the Word says, "All Israel shall be saved" however it also states that two thirds of Israel shall be lost, they shall die during that horrendous time of "Jacob’s Trouble." Their error is understandable, for that same organisation also claims that "the Time of Jacob’s Trouble has already occurred." This is a hideous lie of Satan! The truth is, we need to share Y'Shua with Jew and Gentile, that they may be saved and will not have to endure the time of "God's Wrath!"...

The pre-Tribulation Rapture, I believe, harmonises the relevant passages, without strained arguments. It does not confuse the Body with Israel or the (unsaved) Gentiles, and Lord's dealings with them. It recognises the difference between the Chastening of the Lord and the Wrath of God. It recognises the difference between the Age of Grace and the 70th Week. It recognises the difference between the provision for exemption for the Bride and the preservation of the Tribulation saints during the 70th Week. This teaching is a balanced interpretation, which gives God the Glory...

Without doubt, we are living in urgent times, for the Lord's return for the Bride is imminent. He gave us signs, like Israel’s restoration to the land and Jerusalem. The Lord God spoke about these times, by using the word "Generation", back in Psalms and in the New Testament.

"You will arise and have mercy on Zion (Jerusalem), for the time to favour her, yes, the set time, has come (the people and the city re-united). For Your servants (The children of Israel) take pleasure in her stones, and show favour to her dust … When the Lord shall build up Zion He shall appear in His glory … This shall be written for the Generation to come" Psalms 102:13-14,16&18.

This generation has witnessed Israel‘s re-establishment in 1948, and her restoration to Zion, the city of Jerusalem in 1967, we know with assurance that "the set time has come."...In Hebrew, the words "Generation to come" is ---- - "Le'Dor Acharon" which literally means "the Last Generation." It is for that very reason we, the faithful must teach the blessed truth of the Word of God, to the Churches and to the world, Jew and Gentile, for we are living in the "last generation", before the Lord Y’Shua comes for His Bride....

***Wonderful. I turned to note it in my new study Bible, but already have it in there. This is literally, THE LAST GENERATION.

The next question is "when will this occur, before, in the middle, or at the end of the Tribulation?" Beloved, the Scriptural fact is, we the faithful in Messiah Y'Shua cannot enter the Tribulation, not even one day thereof. Why? The fact is, the Lord Y'Shua promised His faithful that His faithful would not!

"Because you have kept My command to persevere, I also will keep you from the hour of trial which shall come upon the whole world, to test those who dwell on the earth" Rev 3:10.

***Many who are not Jewish do not understand this so well.

Are there other Scriptures that will give us a sure foundation to base our faith on, for the Rapture occurring prior the Great Tribulation? Indeed, there are many. But return with me to the book of Daniel chapter 9 and take a close look at verse 24. We must ask ourselves as we read it "What does God say and what can we deduct from it?

"Seventy weeks are determined for Your people and for Your Holy City, to finish the transgression, to make an end of sins, to make reconciliation for iniquity, to bring in everlasting righteousness, to seal up vision and prophecy, and to anoint the Most Holy."

This verse contains three significant points that should clarify the situation.
1.The 70th Week is determined upon "Your People." The Children of Israel."
2.The 70th Week is determined upon "Your Holy City." Jerusalem.
3.The 70th Week is determined in order "To finish the Transgression and to make an End of Sins."...

In the Tenach (the Old Testament) this time, the 70th Week, is known as "the Day of Yahvah" or "the Day of the LORD." The purpose of that Day, is Judgement of those in error and in sin. The Day of Yahvah is divided into two parts. During the first three and a half years, that false peacemaker, the Anti-Christ, will make a treaty with Israel and delude the world with promises of peace and prosperity (sounds much like the Prosperity doctrine), at the same time introducing the "mark of the beast", the cashless society. Sadly, many will accept it without question. The second half of the Tribulation is known as the "Time of Jacob's Trouble." This time will be used to soften the hardened hearts of the remnant of Israel, in order that they might turn to their Messiah and be prepared for His Kingdom. The Day of the LORD will culminate in His Second Coming to the earth....

***Here I differ with him. According to Mal. 4:5, the Lord said, "I will send you Elijah the prophet BEFORE the coming of the great and dreadful DAY OF THE LORD." The arrival of the millennial Day of the Lord will be the "dreadful" part, more than the preceding Tribulation. Of that DAY of Jacob's trouble, Dan. 12:1 says, "there shall be a time of trouble, SUCH AS NEVER WAS SINCE THERE WAS A NATION even to that same time." I think the Day of the Lord starts on the 2300th day of the 70th week of Daniel. I also think the Beast will rule during the first 1260 days and the False Prophet will rule during the next 1040 days of the shortened Tribulation. He causes them to receive the mark of the beast.

(Why the Faithful in Messiah Y'Shua cannot go through the Tribulation)

1. On the basis of the distinction between Israel and the Body in Messiah Y'Shua:
a.God never deals with Israel and the Body at the same time.
b.Because of the promises to Israel, yet unfulfilled, Israel must have a future. Evangelic and missionary responsibility of Israel will be completed in the Tribulation.
c.The nation of Israel is not yet complete.
d."Daniel's 70 Weeks" not completed; Sabbatical year approach. (Exod 23:10,11 - Lev 25:3,4 & 26:33-36 - 2 Chron 36:20,21 - Jer 25:11,12, & 29:10 & Dan 9:2, 24, 25).

2. Statement and structure of Revelation:
a.The statement "Tereo ek" (Rev 3:10), "to keep out" not "Aireo" (to take out) used in context.
b.The Structure: the Church Age / Tribulation / Millennium / Eternity. (Rev chapters 2-3 / 7-19 / 20 / & 21:1-8).

3. The Statement of Thessalonians:
a.2 Thess 2:6,7. Removal of the restraining presence of the Holy Spirit is impossible without removing the Faithful at the same time.
b.2 Thess 2:2. Incorrect translation in the KJV & NKJ confuses the entire passage. "Day of Christ" should read "Day of the Lord." (False teachers came with a forged letter supposedly from Paul, who implied that the Day of the Lord, or Tribulation, had already come).
c.1 Thess 4:16-18. Phrase "In the Messiah (Christ)" refers to believers in the Church Age. Verse 18 emphasises a comfort witch could not exist if the Church were to go through the Tribulation.

4. Remnant of the Tribulation:
a.The Lord Y'Shua returns to the earth with His saints. (1 Thess chapters 3:13 & Jude 14).
b.Y'Shua at the same time delivers saints at the Second Advent. (Zech 14:1-5).
c.Y'Shua cannot come with saints and deliver saints unless there are two groups of saints. 1. The Church and 2. Tribulation saints. Obviously two groups exist and both groups of saints are separated....

8. Activity of the Faithful in Heaven: a.Before the faithful return to the earth with the Lord, they appear before the Judgement Seat of the Lord for evaluation of fruits in their walk of faith - Rewards. 2 Cor 5:10, 1 Cor 3:11-15.
b.Hence, some interval is necessary (7 Years) before the Bride can be prepared.
c.The marriage of the lamb takes place in heaven (Rev 19:6-8) after which the Bride returns to the earth with the Groom (Rev 19:14)....

...Another Movable "Mishkan"
In our opinion, the events which occurred on this occasion represent a shift from that which was a covenant reality in the period of the Tanakh to a change under the Renewed Covenant. The major change lay in the form in which the Temple was now to exist. In the Torah, God commanded that a Mishkan (Tabernacle) be built, where He would manifest Himself and where the people would worship Him via offerings and sacrifices. Later, this movable Mishkan was made permanent and named Beit haMikdash, the Temple.

Now from the time of the events of Acts 2, this Temple would again become a movable Mishkan. However, the materials for this new Temple would be what the Brit Chadasha calls "living stones"-the lives of all who are called by God's grace to be a part of the body of Messiah.

To understand our viewpoint, one must realize that the meeting of believers recorded at the opening of chapter 2 took place in the Temple...."the house" does not necessarily refer to a person's private home. Rather, this phrase was commonly used during the Second Temple period to denote the Temple itself....Even today, in Israel, if you were to take a taxi and ask the driver to take you to the Temple Mount, you would ask him to take you to "Har HaBayit," which translated literally means "Mountain of the House."

Where would these Torah-observant Jews have been on the morning of Shavu'ot? It seems clear that the disciples were meeting on the Temple Mount, celebrating Shavu'ot as was their custom every year...

...In Acts chapter 2, because of what He did on that day, it seems that God was making a clear statement about the new Temple. It appears that He was saying that the new and the visible Temple in the world would now be one in which living stones would be built into a spiritual house " upon the foundation of the apostle's and prophets, Messiah Yeshua Himself being the corner {stone} in whom the whole building, being fitted together is growing into a holy temple in the Lord; in whom you also are being built together into a dwelling of God in the Spirit." (Ephesians 2:21-22)...

We know that within a few years after the Shavu'ot of Acts 2, the Temple in Jerusalem was destroyed, thus completing the shift of emphasis from a Temple made of stones to a house made of living stones. Consequently, the Shavu'ot of that year became the day in which God made a public proclamation before the nation of Israel: The holy community of believers in Yeshua would now be His Temple...

Up to this point, it had been the norm for the nations to come up to Jerusalem. Now the Temple would go out from Jerusalem-unto the uttermost parts of the earth....

"But you shall receive power when the Holy Spirit has come upon you; and you shall be My witnesses both in Jerusalem, and in all Judea and Samaria, and even to the remotest part of the earth." Notice the connection between the giving of the Spirit of God to Yeshua's followers, their empowerment, and their mission...

***It seems to me that Acts 2:46 supports the disciples being in the temple: "And they, CONTINUING DAILY WITH ONE ACCORD IN THE TEMPLE, and breaking bread from house to house." This idea also seems to explain why near the beginning of the Millennium, when the earthy Temple will be restored, "it shall come to pass afterward ('after I am in the midst of Israel,' Joel 2:27), that I will pour out my spirit upon all flesh; and your sons and your daughters shall prophesy, your old men shall dream dreams, your young men shall see visions" (Joel 2:28).

Re: Sickle of Leo
does the Sickle of Leo in the night sky mean anything prophetically?

My reply

It probably does. The sickle point sticks out of Leo's mouth in some old pictures. Leo stands for Christ as the Lion of the tribe of Judah. Regulus is known as the king star. The sickle reminds us of a weapon. Its point is sharp like a sword. In Rev. 1:16, "out of his (Christ's) mouth went a sharp twoedged SWORD." Here it is to cut off the foolish Laodicean virgins. Rev. 19:21 says, "And the remnant were slain with the SWORD of him that sat upon the horse, which sword proceeded out of his mouth." This is when the Beast and False Prophet are cast into the Lake of Fire. Agape

Re: The name of Jesus
I want to thank you for the wonderful site the Lord has used you to build for His glory and for the edification of brothers and sisters in Christ. I know you are very busy reading and answering e-mails, so I will try to keep this question brief. Where did the name Jesus come from? I know some people that refuse to use that name and will only call him by the name of Yeshua. They said that the name Jesus originated from the name Iosis (I think) and a number of other names of pagan gods. I really want to know the truth in this matter and have been having trouble finding information about it on the internet. Could you please help? Thank you and God Bless. In His Love

My reply

Here is the way I understand it. In the OT, Christ the redeemer is called YHVH of hosts (Isa. 44:6), translated LORD of hosts in the KJV. YHVH is Yahweh when the vowels are supplied, which is shortened to Yah in some places. In Hebrew, the Christ child is Yah plus shua, Yahshua, meaning Yah saves. He came in the name of his Father and as Saviour. That name also gets shortened a bit, to Y'shua. The Messianic Jews usually call him Yeshua. In Greek, there isn't a direct equivalent, so Iesous is used. That became Jesus in English. Agape

Re: Parable of the Wedding Banquet
---- is studying Matthew 22 at the moment and we both need help in understanding it. Can you help with the following questions

1/ The definition of those invited as opposed to those chosen
2/ When the servants are sent out to gather anyone they find, why does it include both good and BAD, who are the bad?
3/ Who does the man without the wedding garment represent?
4/ What does the wedding garment represent?

My reply

In Rev. 17:14, right after the Rapture, those with Christ "are called, and chosen, and faithful." There are foolish Laodicean virgins that are cut off and left behind. Lu. 12:46 says of the foolish servant, "The lord of that servant will come in a day when he looketh not for him, and at an hour when he is not aware, and will cut him in sunder (lit., cut him off), and will appoint him his portion (2300 days of the Tribulation, Dan. 8:14) with the unbelievers." Mt. 24:51 adds, "And shall cut him asunder, and appoint him his portion with the hypocrites (pretenders): there shall be weeping and gnashing of teeth.

We see this weeping and gnashing of teeth in Mt. 22:13,14: "Then said the king to the servants, Bind him hand and foot, and take him away, and cast him into outer darkness, there shall be weeping and gnashing of teeth. For many are called, but few are chosen."

There are two Raptures, and the prize Paul was running the race to win was to be part of the group present at the first Rapture. In Phil. 3:14, he said, "I press toward the mark for the prize of the HIGH CALLING of God in Christ Jesus." In I Cor. 9:24-27, he said, " Know ye not that they which run in a race run all, but one receiveth the prize? So run, that ye may obtain. And every man that striveth for the mastery is temperate in all things. Now they do it to obtain a corruptible crown; but we an incorruptible. I therefore so run, not as uncertainly; so fight I, not as one that beateth the air: But I keep under my body, and bring it into subjection: lest that by any means, when I have preached to others, I myself should be a CASTAWAY."

In Mt. 22, the man "which had not on a wedding garment" is like the Laodicean, who is told to buy of the Lord "white raiment" or he will be one spued out of Christ's mouth at the first Rapture (Rev. 3:14-19). The Laodiceans are told, be zealous therefore, and repent." In Rev. 7:14, we see that by the time of the second Rapture, they have repented. It says, "These are they which came out of great tribulation, and have washed their robes, and made them white in the blood of the Lamb."

When a person accepts Christ, all past sins are wiped off the books. He/she is as a pure virgin. All sins committed after that need to be confessed, as per I Jn. 1:9, or we do not have on a white wedding garment. The Bride wears white. Rev. 19:7,8 says, " the marriage of the Lamb is come, and his wife hath made herself ready. And to her was granted that she should be arrayed in fine linen, clean and white: for the fine linen is the righteousness of saints." It is literally, righteousnesses. It included Christ's righteousness, imputed to us (that will eventually get us into Heaven), and our righteous acts."

Here is what I think Mt. 22:1-14 indicates. It says, "The kingdom of heaven is like unto a certain king (the Father), which made a marriage for his son (Christ), And sent forth his servants (apostles and disciples) to call them (in 30 AD) that were bidden to the wedding (Israel): and they would not come. Again, he sent forth other servants, saying, Tell them which are bidden, Behold, I have prepared my dinner: my oxen and my fatlings are killed, and all things are ready: come unto the marriage. But they made light of it, and went their ways, one to his farm, another to his merchandise: And the remnant took his servants (including almost all the apostles), and entreated them spitefully, and slew them. But when the king heard thereof, he was wroth: and he sent forth his armies, and destroyed those murderers, and burned up their city (40 years later, in 70 AD)."

"Then saith he to his servants, The wedding is ready, but they which were bidden were not worthy. Go ye therefore into the highways (i.e., unto the Gentiles), and as many as ye shall find, bid to the marriage. So those servants went out into the highways, and gathered together all as many as they found, both bad (foolish Laodicean virgins) and good (the Bride group, wise Philadelphian virgins): and the wedding was furnished with guests. And when the king came in to see the guests, he saw there a man which had not on a wedding garment (a foolish Laodicean virgin): And he saith unto him, Friend, how camest thou in hither not having a wedding garment? And he was speechless (he thought he had it made just because he had accepted Christ, but he had unconfessed sin in his life). Then said the king to the servants, Bind him hand and foot, and take him away, and cast him into outer darkness (outside Heaven's door at the Rapture), there shall be weeping and gnashing of teeth (as those cut off in Mt. 24:51). For many are called, but few are chosen."

We must be called, and chosen, and faithful to be part of the first Rapture. All the remainder will be caught up at the 2nd Rapture. By that time, they will have washed their robes in the blood of the Lamb anyway, so it is far better for us to do it now.

Just as they had 40 years of probation in the first century, we are given 40 years of probation here at the end of the age, I think from the Six-Day War in 1967 to Sept. 13, 2007, the Day of God's Wrath. However, the first Rapture is before the Tribulation and the second Rapture is just before the fire falls on the Day of God's Wrath. The former is as the days of Noah. The latter is as the days of Lot. Lu. 17:29 says, " But the same day that Lot went out of Sodom it rained fire and brimstone from heaven, and destroyed them all." Agape

RE: A Thought to Think Upon.

All The World Is Waiting For The Son Rise!

I have been reading reports of sightings of 'double' rainbows in various parts of the world and it occurred to me that, in Genesis 9:13-14, we are told about God making a covenant with the earth to the effect that He would never, again, cover the earth with water. "I do set my bow in the cloud, and it shall be for a token of a covenant between me and the earth. And it shall come to pass, when I bring a cloud over the earth, that the bow shall be seen in the cloud." I think the sightings of 'double' rainbows could be God assuring the earth what is coming will not, repeat not, involve covering it with water.

The environment the Lord God has chosen to bless us with is a quiet residential area on the outskirts of Macon, Georgia, USA. We have an abundance of trees, bushes, grass, birds, squirrels, etc. etc. Lately, it has seemed to me that all of them are waiting for something, particularly the growing things, and the Lord led me to Romans 8.

Romans 8:19 "For the earnest expectation of the creature waiteth for the manifestation of the sons of God." ('the creature', in the Greek, is: "ktisis" original formation:-building, creation, creature, ordinance.)

('manifestation', in the Greek, is; "apokalupsis"; disclosure:-appearing, coming, lighten, manifestation, be revealed, revelation.)

'The creature', I think, means all that was originally created by God, 'in the beginning'. (Please note: Adam was not 'created', he was made from the dust of the earth, as are we all.) The 'Church' has been given the 'power to become the sons of God' but the Church does not yet know just what it will be and I think all of 'creation' is waiting for it to be disclosed, or to be revealed. The whole creation is earnestly awaiting this 'manifestation' and I think it will happen in the near future.

Romans 8:20-21 "For the creature was made subject to vanity, not willingly, but by reason of him who hath subjected the same in hope, because the creature itself also shall be delivered from the bondage of corruption into the glorious liberty of the children of God." ('vanity', in the Greek, is: mataioteôs ; inutility.)

This tells us 'the creature' is not being used the way it should be but is being 'misused'. Our scientists are telling us the same thing. They are telling us man is misusing 'the creature' but what man does not realize is that 'the creature', in ways we have no way of understanding, is also aware of it and is looking for the day when it will be delivered from the 'bondage of corruption' into the same 'glorious liberty' that awaits 'the children of God."

Romans 8:22 "For we know that the whole creation groaneth and travaileth in pain together until now."

There is no doubt the earth is suffering because of the way man is mistreating it so I can understand why 'the whole creation is groaning and travailing'. I think you can too! PRAISE THE LORD!!!

My reply

I know I'm waiting for the Son rise.

BTW, "Bara," create, is used in Gen. 1:1, 21, and 3 times in 27: "So God CREATED man in his own image, in the image of God CREATED he him; male and female CREATED he them." Agape

Re: OWG... not rule by democracy, is urged by UN

MSNBC reported: "The last 25 years have been good ones for democracy. More than 100 countries replaced one-party or military rule with multiparty systems. And for the first time in history, some three-quarters of the world's population has a government installed by ballot rather than bullet. But political gains have not always brought greater personal freedoms, warns a new report from the world's largest aid agency. The United Nations Development Program's Human Development Report 2000, released today, argues that many democracies have failed to protect or promote human rights in their countries. 'Violence against minorities is a burning political issue the world over,' says the annual survey. In Western Europe, immigrant minorities are often victims of racism; in Sri Lanka and the former Yugoslavia ethnic tensions led to war. 'Even with constitutional protection, minorities can face large threats,' notes the report. 'What is needed is not elusive democracy but inclusive democracy.' The solution? A new system of government that goes beyond 'the brute electoral force of the majority.'..."
