UNITED NATIONS (AP) - Facing the threat of a U.S. veto, the Palestinians failed Friday for the third time in less than a year to get a Security Council resolution condemning Israel and sending monitors to the Middle East.

A split council shelved any action on the issue.

Hussein gets ultimatum: Get out of Jordan or else http://www.worldnetdaily.com/news/article.asp?ARTICLE_ID=24184

U.S. General Tommy Franks, head of the U.S. Central Command, has issued an ultimatum to Iraq's Saddam Hussein through his friend, Yemeni President Ali Salah, according to a report by the intelligence news service Debka-Net-Weekly.

The ultimatum? Get your forces out of Syria and Jordan or else.

...The U.S. delegation and Jordanian leaders reportedly agreed that a U.S. Marines brigade would be dispatched to secure the triangular wedge enclosed by the Jordanian, Syrian and Iraqi frontiers and arrest the creeping Iraqi military advance into the kingdom and Syria. Basing Marines in Jordan would also fit in with U.S. preparations for a military expedition against Saddam Hussein. The U.S. force is due to arrive in the kingdom in the coming days.

Franks’ next stop was Cairo, where he landed last Saturday for a discussion of the forthcoming U.S. operation against Iraq with Egyptian defense minister Gen. Tantawi and Egyptian army chiefs. Both the Jordanian and the Egyptian army chiefs received a strong impression of U.S. determination. Should Iraq invoke its secret defense treaties with Syria and move air, armored and missile units across the frontier, the United States will not hesitate to bombard them, meaning that an American offensive against Iraq may well reach into north Syria.

In Jesus Christ, Thanks and OK. I dont know much about Seventh Day adventists, and i dont care to. Why there has to be so many groups, everyone with their own Jesus and Bible. But Giza pyramid is interesting, that i have to say. If i remember right, Lambert Dolphin (pictured left?) studied it too. And did you see Fivedoves' letters today (22) and yesterday?, there were couple of posts about Giza too.

..but above all, why Jesus can't come already?! I dont want to wait anymore. I want to be with Him NOW! Agape and thanks

p.s. <- those dolphins look nice.

My reply

Glad you like the dolphin stationery. Someone nice gave it to me. If you use MSOutlook Express, you can Save as Stationey in the File Menu. Under Format, there is Apply Stationery to apply it to your e-mail document. I understand that Microsoft has some neat stationery one can download too.

I like this dolphin/sailboat stationery because it reminds me of when we had a 34' Peirson sailboat. A captain took us out in the Pacific Ocean to teach us how to sail. He took binoculars and watched for whales. He didn't find any whales, but a big school of dolphins came to play with the boat and perform for us. They jumped out of the water 3 at a time, not as high as in this picture, but clearing the water. I thought people trained them to do this, but they do it on their own in the wild. They obviously love to watch our reactions. They crisscross in front of the boat and do belly rolls alongside the boat too. They are real showoffs. We had to make sure we didn't use the engine when they were around, so we didn't hurt them.

At Cardiac Rehab, three of us wait for our spouses to exercise. A lady said that a cruise ship they were on around Alaska had to shut down the engines until a whale and her baby moved on. It was about an hour before they did. The captain told them they had to do that, so there is some kind of regulation to protect the large wild life in the ocean.

There are different Christian denominations because people disagree on some minor things, but they all believe in Jesus Christ. People probably have as many different ideas about some things as there are people. I test things they say with Scripture to see if I see eye to eye with them or not. I hang on to the good and throw out the bad. Each denomination uses the Bible, so they should all study it. They might pick a different translation, but from God's Word.

The Jehovah's Witnesses cult do have their own translation of the Bible, the New World Translation. It is not reliable. The Morman cult uses the Bible, but adds the Book of Mormon, which is not Scripture, though they claim it is. Just two verses in the Bible show that it is not. Rev. 22:18,19 says, "If any man shall add unto these things, God shall add unto him the plagues that are written in this book: And if any man shall take away from the words of the book of this prophecy, God shall take away his part out of the book of life, and out of the holy city, and from the things which are written in this book."

> > ..but above all, why Jesus can't come already?! I dont want to wait anymore. I want to be with Him NOW!

I can sympathize with you there. However, we are being tested and our patience will be rewarded. We have to hang in there no matter how long it takes. Rev. 3:10 says, "Because thou hast kept the word of my PATIENCE, I also will keep thee from the hour of temptation, which shall come upon all the world, to try them that dwell upon the earth. II Thess. 3:5 says, "the Lord direct your hearts into the love of God, and into the PATIENT waiting for Christ." Agape

Re: Clouds are Ufo's????
No one can poke holes in a theory like you can - and I mean that as a sincere compliment. I rely on you to keep me on the straight and narrow path when it comes to Bible interpretation. I'd like to hear your opinion about the following web site's theory that clouds in the Bible are actually UFO's and that Jesus and his army will return in "clouds" - or UFO's. Could Star Wars be a reality? You'll find the information at:
http://www.bibleufo.com/clouds1.ht
Thanks and God Bless You & Ed.

My reply

This author thinks that clouds are UFOs, that God rides in a UFO, that the cloud by day and fire by night at Sinai was a UFO, that when we come back with Christ as his army, we will come in UFOs.

I don't buy it. The Shekinah glory filled the temple, but there was no UFO in there. We don't "live, and move, and have our being" in a UFO. Acts 17:24-28 says, "God that made the world and all things therein, seeing that he is Lord of heaven and earth, DWELLETH NOT IN TEMPLES MADE WITH HANDS; Neither is worshipped with men's hands, as though he needed any thing, seeing he giveth to all life, and breath, and all things; And hath made of one blood all nations of men for to dwell on all the face of the earth, and hath determined the times before appointed, and the bounds of their habitation; That they should seek the Lord, if haply they might feel after him, and find him, though he be not far from every one of us: For IN HIM WE LIVE, AND MOVE, AND HAVE OUR BEING."

> > When the cloud turns to fire at night are we to accept that it catches on fire even though clouds can't burn? And when stays in a stationary position for months, catching fire every night and burning out every morning are we really talking about a cloud? No, this, or these are not clouds. They are only named such because no one had ever heard about flying saucers, UFOs, spacecraft or star ships. They didn't even have balloons. All they had that big in the sky were clouds so that's what they called them.

I have less trouble believing that God can manifest his presence any way he wants to than that he crams himself into a UFO and rides around in it. Do our prayers have to find him somewhere in this universe to get his answer? No! Is a UFO hanging around each one of us to hear our prayers? No! "IN HIM WE LIVE, AND MOVE, AND HAVE OUR BEING." He is always near, or in case we have accepted Christ, he is in us. In Heb. 13:5, Jesus said, "I will never leave thee, nor forsake thee." The Spirit of Christ is the Spirit of God. Rom. 8:9 says, "ye are not in the flesh, but in the Spirit, if so be that the SPIRIT OF GOD dwell in you. Now if any man have not the SPIRIT OF CHRIST, he is none of his."

This author forgets that the Bible is God breathed. The prophets recorded God's words as they were inspired by the Holy Spirit of God. They didn't leave anything out just because it was an unknown object in those days. If the Shekinah glory was a UFO, the Lord would have known about UFOs and would have caused the prophet to write an accurate description even if the prophet didn't understand what he was writing about. II Tim. 3:16 says, "ALL SCRIPTURE IS GIVEN BY INSPIRATION OF GOD, and is profitable for doctrine, for reproof, for correction, for instruction in righteousness." Agape

Subject: virus attachments
I have tried to prevent these from getting to you and me, and Sir Cam has evaded my efforts. It is able to avoid detection as a normal attachment.

Here is what I recommend: If you EVER see an attachment in your inbox, it is almost CERTAINLY a virus. Delete it immediately. A normal attachment will never be there. It will be in your deleted box.

I have received 2 attachments in the inbox in the last 2 weeks and both have probably been virus.

Changing the subject, Check Matt 24:36 in your HRV. Seems pretty definite that no one will ever figure out exactly when the rapture is, until it actually happens. More definite than the Greek version.

My reply

Since I got 2 Sir Cam viruses at the same time on the 8th, I haven't gotten any more. Where they came from has probably eradicated the virus by now. I also had pe turn off my old e-mail address. Most, but not all, came by way of pe. I just thank the Lord that I was alert enough to hit Delete instead of clicking to open the attachments. My computer did not become infected by that onslaught.

> > Check Matt 24:36 in your HRV

Mt. 24:32--37,42, 44 (HRV) says, "Learn you the parable from the fig tree, when its branch is tender, and the leaves sprout, you know that the SUMMER FRUIT (Strong's, theros, summer) is near, so likewise you, when you will see all these things, know that it is near, so likewise you, when you will see all these things, know that it ('the kingdom of Eloah", Lu. 21:31) is near, even at the doors (i.e., 2 Raptures into the heavenly kingdom of God). Truly I say to you, this generation will not pass away, until the whole is accomplished. Heaven and earth will pass away, but my words will not pass away. Until THAT DAY, and concerning THAT HOUR there will be no man that knows, not even the angels in heaven, but my Father only. And as it was in the days of Noach, so will it be at the coming of the Son of Man....Be you alert therefore, for you know not at what HOUR your Adon comes....be you also ready, for you know not at what HOUR the Son of Man comes."

The Lambsa Bible, translated from eastern MSS, says "summer" in the fig tree parable. V. 32 says, From the fig tree learn a parable. As soon as its branches become tender and bring forth leaves, you know that summer is coming." The Exegesis Bible has "warmth" instead of summer.

In the HRV, after mentioning that "Heaven and earth will pass away," Yeshua said "THAT DAY" and "THAT HOUR." That seems to refer to Heaven and Earth passing away. Also, notice that in verses 42 and 44, when refering to the Rapture, it does not mention not knowing the day when the Lord will come, only the HOUR. However, in the parable of the 10 virgins, the foolish ones are told "you know not the DAY and the HOUR when the Son of Man comes." Rev. 3:3 (HRV) says, "if you do not watch, I [will] come upon you as a thief and you will not know [in] what HOUR he comes upon you."

I'm watching, hoping to be able to know all that the Lord intends us to know. What he doesn't want me to know, I don't want to know. What he wants me to know, I want to understand completely. I trust his judgment implicitly. Agape

...Below is Pastor Hagee's material on Rosh Hashana. What do you think? Agape
---
Rosh Hashanah: c(John Hagee)
While the first four festivals occur in close proximity, an entire season passes before the fall commemoration of trumpets begins. This long period between the spring and fall feasts represents the dispensation of grace in which we now live. Of all the feasts, this is the only time span in prophecy that cannot be exactly determined. The incalculable period is the time between Christ’s death and His return. It is the time when we wait for the angels to blow God’s great trumpet that will call the bride of Christ to her mansions on high.

"Then the Lord spoke to Moses, saying, 'Speak to the children of Israel, saying: "In the seventh month, on the first day of the month, you shall have a sabbath-rest, a memorial of blowing of trumpets, a holy convocation. You shall do no customary work on it; and you shall offer an offering made by fire to the Lord.'" (Leviticus 23:23-25 NKJV)

The Feast of Trumpets, now more commonly known as Rosh Hashanah (Hebrew for “head of the year”), is the first day of the Jewish civil year. Rosh Hashanah begins on the first day of the seventh month, Tishri (September or October on the English calendar). This festival is also known as the Day of Judgment, when God sits on His throne and determines the destiny of each individual in the year ahead. According to Jewish tradition, this is the date on which God created Adam, the first man.

Because the first Hebrew words of the book of Genesis, "in the beginning" read "on the first of Tishri" when turned around, Rosh Hashanah is known as the birthday of the world.

In order to show their trust in God’s compassion, Jews dress in their best for the festival and celebrate with quiet joy. White, signifying purity, is the favorite color. The Torah is covered in white fabric throughout the holidays, and the kittel, a white smock-like garment worn over other clothes, is often seen in the synagogue. Because the spotless kittel resembles a burial shroud, it reminds the people of man's mortality as well as purity.

If you've seen Mr. Spock give a split-fingered Vulcan salute on reruns of "Star Trek," you have also seen the traditional sign used by the Kohanim, the Jewish priestly class, to bless the congregation on Rosh Hashanah. The priests raise their hands and allow a V-shaped gap between their third and fourth fingers to form "windows" through which God can send His blessings. The blessing is usually given as part of the benediction at the Rosh Hashanah service.

The shofar, a curved ram’s horn, is blown to awaken sinners and to confuse Satan, who, it is believed, will therefore be unable to act in his role as accuser of Israel. The shofar has always held a prominent role in the history of Israel. The shofar sounded when the Torah was given to Israel (Exodus 19:19), and it was the instrument used when the walls of Jericho fell (Joshua 6:20). Gideon had his men blow the shofar in order to frighten the Medianites (Judges 7:16-22), and Zechariah prophesied that Israel will be advised of the advent of the Messiah at the sound of the shofar (Zechariah 9:14-16). The shofar was blown at the beginning of the year of Jubilee (Leviticus 25:9), and to announce the start of festivals (Numbers 10:10). The shofar was blown during the coronation of kings (1 Kings 1:34, 39), and seven shofroth will be sounded when God judges the earth during the Tribulation (Revelation 8-9). The trumpets of God are the most important signal the world can possibly receive. Rosh Hashanah is a picture of the rapture of the church, an event that is drawing very near.

My reply

> > This long period between the spring and fall feasts represents the dispensation of grace in which we now live. Of all the feasts, this is the only time span in prophecy that cannot be exactly determined.

I know what they say about sighting the crescent moon in the olden days, but in our days, the "time span" between Pentecost and Trumpets can be determined without the least risk of failure. The days between Pentecost and Trumpets are ALWAYS THE SAME. Nisan always has 30 days. Iyar always has 29. Sivan always has 30. Tamuz always has 29. Av always has 30. Elul always has 29. Only 3 months can vary at any time, Cheshvan, Kislev and Adar. If the number of days in each month between Pentecost and Trumpets have been constant, the time between Pentecost and Trumpets has been constant.

> > The incalculable period is the time between Christ’s death and His return

Technically, he returned on Resurrection Day, but I think Hagee is speaking in general terms. He probably meant between Christ's ascension and His return.

> > Because the first Hebrew words of the book of Genesis, “in the beginning” read “on the first of Tishri” when turned around, Rosh Hashanah is known as the birthday of the world.

How interesting! I didn't know that "in the beginning" read "on the first of Tishri" when turned around. I figured that Tishri 1 was when God rested on the 7th day. When that sunset arrived, this kosmos began to operate as it does now. That would be the birthday of this kosmos, order of things. In the very beginning was long before Adam, so Tishri 1 for that would indicate that the Jewish calendar had been in operation long before Adam's day.

I hope he is right. Agape

Subject: SIX DAY WAR?
I'm sure you probably have addressed this before but would you please comment on this again. In your opinion have you been able to identify a significance to the length (six days) of the 1967 Israel - Arab war? I know you believe this to be the sign of the end of the age but do you also believe the six days are significant, and if so why?

Was the Lord implying that the six (1000 year days) were nearing an end? Thanks.

My reply

I haven't thought much about the 6 days, but knowing that the Lord doesn't miss a trick, it probably is significant. So what could it indicate? 6000 years? Maybe, but let's look at the six. It is the number of man. Adam was created on the 6th day. Just as the Second Adam (Jesus Christ) was tried 40 days, I think Adam was tried 40 years before being judged and cast out of Eden. Forty means testing and probation. When we add up the years from Adam's creation to the Crucifixion, Adam's creation was in BC 4044, not BC 4004, as Ussher thought. (See Anstey's Romance of Bible Chronology and my Old Testament Chronology (chron.html) for details.)

Adam was given dominion over the Earth, so he was like a king. He was tested 40 years. King Saul was tested during his 40-year reign. King David was tested during his 40-year reign, and won the right to rule again. King Solomon was tested during his 40-year reign. Surely that sequence was arranged to get our attention.

I think Israel is also being tested 40 years at the end of this age. Adam's test began when he was created on the sixth day. Israel's final test began when she took the temple area in the Six-Day War. Agape

Re: the word "Armageddon"
My recent letter is posted in the August letters of five doves, but in,case you didn't see it, I am sending it on to you. I am a Bible teacher, and writer, and I think you'd be interested in what I've discovered about the Hebrew word Armageddon. My name is Paul Phelps, and my Email address is
---
AN EXPLANATION OF THE WORD ARMAGEDDON

The Greek word Armageddon has a different basis in Hebrew grammar than is usually explained, and the prophetic meaning is affected. As a place name, Megiddo always refers to the Jezreel valley fortress, but this name is without a final 'n' letter. Megiddon with a final 'n' is only found in one text: Zech. 12:11. This spelling distinction is erased in many Bible versions but King James has it:

"In that day shall there be a great mourning in Jerusalem, as the mourning of Hadadrimmon in the valley of Megiddon."

Root ideas are 'gather,' 'to cut' (GADAD) and 'troops' (GADUD). Megiddo is 'gathering of troops' and final 'n' infers 'place of...' So Megiddon may not be a name but rather a generic term for a battlefield, 'place of gathering of troops.' It is not credible that Arm- is transliterated from 'har' (mountain). No mountain (har) is mentioned in Megiddo texts, and the valley beside Megiddo is always called Jezreel. A likely explanation has been overlooked although the clue is in the Zechariah text. Hadad and Rimmon are two gods of ancient Syria, which were never known in Israel at any time. Thus the mourning of Hadad-Rimmon must surely be in Syria. In Hebrew, Syria is Aram; it becomes Arm- if joined in compound to another word. The Greek word Armageddon is a transliteration of Aram + megiddon, and means 'the place in Syria of the gathering of troops.'

Zechariah 12:11 mentions a 'valley' or 'plain': this is the north-eastern Syrian plain alongside the Euphrates River. This could be where troops from the East will be crossing the river; Rev. 16:12. This interpretation removes the scene of Armageddon from Israel and puts it in Syria. The mourning of Hadad-Rimmon may be prophetic of the mourning for the dead after Armageddon. This battle must be near the Euphrates because that is where the antichrist will try to stop the Eastern army from reaching Jerusalem and the regional occupied nations.

Roman claims of ruling the whole world (Luke 2:1) were never true and will never be true despite claims; the empires in Nebuchadnezzar's dream did not rule the whole world but they did rule the Jews, and that was the significance. (Other empires always existed besides the four of Nebuchadnezzar's dream.)

Armageddon does not involve Israel at all, for Israel is nowhere mentioned. It rather has to do with the conflict between the Western antichrist empire, and the kingdoms of the East. This is confirmed (about antichrist) in Daniel 11:44, "But news from the east and the north shall trouble him; therefore he shall go out with great fury to destroy and annihilate many."

But this war results in the annihilation in Syria of the antichrist army, battling the eastern forces northeast of Jerusalem (v 45). The armies then called by the 'three frogs' (evil spirits) are a last attempt by antichrist to confront the eastern forces at the Euphrates River. Hence the eastern forces are not coming against Israel but are coming against antichrist armies based in west Asia. That can be the reason God opens the river before them, for they are serving His purpose. God's act of opening the Euphrates River giving entry to the kings of the East might relate to Isaiah 11:11,15b-16; 41:2-3,8-9,25; 46:11; 51:10-11 and Joel 2:11. No Bible text suggests that the kingdoms of the East will ever attack Jerusalem.

Megiddo texts do not refer to a mountain, so there would be no reason to say "har" Megiddo but simply "Megiddo," if Megiddo were meant. The valley beside Megiddo is never called the "valley of Megiddo" but rather the "valley of Jezreel," or simply Jezreel.

Armageddon is not the FINAL or only war. It is merely the war that takes out the main armies of antichrist. The battle of Jerusalem is an aftermath war fought by the Israelis INSIDE ISRAEL; it is then that antichrist is finally cornered. Thus it is not necessary to assume the eastern army will attack Jerusalem. They are only knocking out the armies of antichrist as a world threat, nothing more. This objective and result are of God.

I should like to hear from anyone reading this website who is interested to respond to this item of researched opinion.

My reply

Thanks for sending me this interesting information. We do differ a bit in our interpretation. I submit my ideas for your thoughtful consideration.

> > No Bible text suggests that the kingdoms of the East will ever attack Jerusalem.

Zech. 14:2 says, "I will gather ALL NATIONS AGAINST JERUSALEM TO BATTLE. This is at the end of this age. They will be destroyed on the next day, the 1st day of the millennial Day of the Lord, the Day of God's Wrath. Isa. 34:2 says, "For THE INDIGNATION OF THE LORD is upon ALL NATIONS, and his fury upon ALL THEIR ARMIES: he hath utterly destroyed them, he hath delivered them to the slaughter."

There will also be different empires during the Tribulation, but they will all be joined together under the umbrella of the United Nations or One World Government.

Have you seen the new Hebraic-Roots Version "New Testament" by James Trimm? Rev. 16:16 says, "And he gathered them to a place that in Hebrew is called Megiddo," meaning place of troops.

> > Armageddon is not the FINAL or only war. It is merely the war that takes out the main armies of antichrist. I think Armageddon is THE FINAL WAR. It is Christ's forces against Satan's forces and takes place after the Second Advent. The False Prophet is deposed from office on the Day of God's Wrath 7 Jewish months before the return of Christ (Eze. 38:18-20; 39:12,13). After Christ returns, I think he will take dominion away from Satan at the Judgment of the Nations. Then Armageddon will break out. It is Satan's last ditch stand. Afterward, he will be chained. There are no more wars after he is chained. The Prince of Peace will rule. Weapons will be burned (Eze. 39:10) and made into plowshares, because there will be no need for weapons of war then. Isa. 2:4 says, "And he (Christ) shall judge among the nations (Judgment of the Nations), and shall rebuke many people: and they shall beat their swords into plowshares, and their spears into pruning hooks: nation shall not lift up sword against nation, neither shall they learn war any more."

In Rev. 17:10,11, at the time of the Pre-Trib Rapture, we see that "there are seven kings: five are fallen (kings over Babel, Babylon, Media-Persia, Greece and Rome), and one is (at the Rapture, the Pope, the 1st beast of Rev. 13, is over the UN and UR), and the other (the False Prophet/final Antichrist) is not yet come; and when he cometh, he must continue a short space (the shortened Great Tribulation). And the beast (Satan) that was (in Judas Iscariot), and is not (in man now), even he (Satan) is the eighth (operates on his own after the False Prophet is deposed), and is of the seven (whom he controlled), and goeth into perdition."

When the False Prophet (last head of the UN and UR) is deposed, he will be injured in the asteroid impact that destroys Babylon and wipes out all but 1/6th of the united nations' army (Eze. 39:2). Zech. 11:17 says, "Woe to the idol shepherd that leaveth the flock (he moves to Babylon)! the sword (Sword of the Lord, the asteroid) shall be upon his arm, and upon his right eye: his arm shall be clean dried up, and his right eye shall be utterly darkened." This is when Satan comes out of him and operates as "the eighth." Agape
