This orbits the sun every 2.2 years, and won't hit Earth for some time, if at all, UNLESS its orbit is disturbed! It will be back in roughly May 2003, July 2005, and SEPT 2007.

4-2-02 AP - WASHINGTON - A new look at an asteroid orbiting the sun shows it could possibly smash into the Earth with the explosive force of millions of tons of TNT. But experts say the potential impact is still 878 years away, time enough for the speeding space rock to alter its course.

Named 1950 DA, the asteroid — six-tenths of a mile wide — is the most threatening to the Earth of all of the known large asteroids, but the odds are only about one in 300 that it would impact the planet, researchers said Thursday in the journal Science....

Tom Morgan, chief scientist of the National Aeronautics and Space Administration's small planet program, said there are approximately 1,000 asteroids bigger than six-tenths of mile that can pass near the Earth in their orbit of the sun. About 580 have been found and their orbits plotted. Of these, only 1950 DA represents a possible threat...

If 1950 DA did hit the Earth, said Giorgini, it would have planetwide effects, setting off fires, changing the weather and perhaps creating immense tidal waves. But it would not be a planet killer like the asteroid thought to have snuffed out the dinosaurs some 65 million years ago....

In any case, said Giorgini, if scientists determine in the coming centuries that 1950 DA does represent a threat, there'll be plenty of time to take action....

Asteroid 1950 DA was first discovered on Feb. 23, 1950, but then not noted in astronomy logs again for decades. It was rediscovered in 2000 and in March 2001 whizzed within about 77 million miles of Earth, giving astronomers a chance to gather visual and radar readings.

From that, the astronomers projected the orbital path 1950 DA would take on its next 15 near passes of the Earth — over a period covering nearly nine centuries.

For the 15th near pass, on March 16, 2880, the analysis showed it was mathematically possible, though unlikely, that the asteroid could hit the Earth....

He said the highest probability is that the asteroid in the year 2880 will miss the Earth by about 180,000 miles — a distance closer than the 230,000-mile orbit of the Moon around the Earth. But the range of mathematical probabilities also include a possible impact. The asteroid's orbit carries it around the sun every 2.2 years. It passes within 77 million miles of the sun and then loops back into space, passing Mars' orbit and reaching a point some 241 million miles from the sun. In its endless wandering through space, it only infrequently passes near the Earth.

My reply

Many thanks. This one sounds possible. The Lord will use a whirlwind to bring the impact about. Jer 23:18-20 says, "who hath stood in the counsel of the LORD, and hath perceived and heard his word? who hath marked his word, and heard it? Behold, a whirlwind of the LORD is gone forth in fury, even a grievous whirlwind: it shall fall grievously upon the head of the wicked (the False Prophet). The anger of the LORD shall not return, until he have executed, and till he have performed the thoughts of his heart: in the latter days ye shall consider (biyn, understand) it perfectly." Agape ---
LA TIMES 3-4-02 A team of scientists trying to understand a bombardment of space debris that resurfaced the earth 3.9 billion years ago suggests that the cataclysmic event was caused by asteroids and not by comets.

Scientists have been trying to determine what caused the event, which was far more violent than the upheavals that contributed to the demise of the dinosaurs 65 million years ago. The earlier occurrence left Earth marred by tens of thousands of impact craters and scarred Mercury, Venus, the moon and Mars with thousands of craters....

A new analysis of chemical traces left on samples of cratered moon rock suggests that the objects were stony and more like asteroids, not carbon-rich objects like comets, said Babara Cohen, a planetary scientist at the University of Hawaii. It's possible, she said, that a large asteroid broke up in the asteroid belt and showered the inner solar system with debris.

My Note: It is funny when I think about it. Long ago, I thought we had Continental Drift. After lots of years, the scientists finally accepted Continental Drift. I also thought the Moon came from the Earth. Now, the scientists say that that is the only possible scenario. I also thought the planet Rahab was split into jillions of asteroids, scarring all the inner planets, scarring Mars badly on one side and forming our Asteroid Belt. Now, they are getting close to suggesting that. Occasionally through the years, a scientist has suggested that there was a planet there, but others said no. I wonder how long before there is a consensus on this.
Five Planets Will Clump Together In April And May

Re: 6 commandments of the Catholic church
I forgot to mention the individual 6 may vary by country. For example, in France, the Catholic Church deleted the last 2 and made up the 6 by splitting the first 2 into 2 parts each. However, these 6 still carry the same weight as the 10 commandments of God.

RE: Thanks always!
I am writing to say thank you for "Bible Prophecy Corner".

I became a student of prophecy after reading Hal Lindsey's "Late Great Planet Earth"; and throughout the years, I continued to thirst for insight, inspiration, instruction, and understanding of the prophetic Word.

Worldly cares and time pulled me away from prophetic studies until I found Bible Prophecy Corner in 1997. It has been my daily prophecy anchor to this day.

With you, I have watched and waited through 1998, 1999, 2000, & 2001.

Like you, I am praying that Spring 2002 is the appointed time for our redemption.

Because of your diligence, I have discovered many scriptural passages concerning the pre-trib harpazo that I had neither read nor studied.

Your work has challenged me to get back into the Word every day; and in so doing, my faith and the faith of my family has been strengthened immeasurably.

Please explain again why you don't believe that scripture teaches that America is the end time Babylon the Great.

Thank you for all your good work through the years, and thank you for Bible Prophecy Corner. Looking forward to meeting you at the heavenly feast that He prepares for us! Thanks always

My reply

Thanks for all your kind words. I'm sure looking forward to meeting people that have read my Web site. That will sure be a happy day.

> > Please explain again why you don't believe that scripture teaches that America is the end time Babylon the Great.

These verses have never been fulfilled. They will be fulfilled beginning on the Feast of Trumpets that begins the millennial Day of the Lord. Jer. 50:13 says, "Because of the wrath of the LORD IT SHALL NOT BE INHABITED, but it shall be wholly desolate: every one that goeth by Babylon shall be astonished, and hiss at all her plagues." Jer. 51:37 says that "Babylon shall become heaps, a dwellingplace for dragons, an astonishment, and an hissing, WITHOUT AN INHABITANT." Isa 13:20 says, "IT SHALL NEVER BE INHABITED, neither shall it be dwelt in from generation to generation: neither shall the Arabian pitch tent there; neither shall the shepherds make their fold there."

Babylon hasn't yet had this sudden destruction happen to her. The city declined gradually before. Tents and sheep could still be there. Now Saddam Hussein has built a guest house, Nebuchadnezzar's palace, a museum and a temple dedicated to a goddess. He had the first annual Festival of Babylon there in 1987. The final destruction will take place on the Day of God's Wrath, when the Great Tribulation is shortened. Rev. 18:21 says, "a mighty angel took up a stone (asteroid) like a great millstone, and cast it into the sea, saying, Thus with violence shall that great city Babylon be thrown down, and SHALL BE FOUND NO MORE AT ALL." This time, Babylon will be obliterated and not rebuilt.

Both the Old and New Testaments call God's people out of Babylon. Jer. 51:45 says, "MY PEOPLE, GO YE OUT OF THE MIDST OF HER, and deliver ye every man his soul from the fierce anger of the LORD." This is repeated in Rev. 18:4. It says, "I heard another voice from heaven, saying, COME OUT OF HER, MY PEOPLE, that ye be not partakers of her sins, and that ye receive not of her plagues."

Since the OT prophecies have not yet been completely fulfilled, Rev. 18 is talking about the literal Babylon in Iraq. Isa. 22:16-19 tells us about her demise. It says, "What hast thou here? (Babylon) and whom hast thou here (the Satan-possessed False Prophet), that thou hast hewed thee out a sepulchre here, as he (Satan) that heweth him out a sepulchre on high (on Satan's planet Rahab, which became our Asteroid Belt) , and that graveth an habitation for himself in a rock (on the asteroid Wormwood)? Behold, the LORD will carry thee away with a mighty captivity, and will surely cover thee. He will surely violently turn and TOSS THEE LIKE A BALL INTO A LARGE COUNTRY (IRAQ): there shalt thou die, and there the chariots of thy glory shall be the shame of thy lord's house. And I will drive thee from thy station, and from thy state shall he pull thee down."

The verse that seems to indicate the United States is 2Sa 7:23. It says, "what ONE (ECHAD, UNITED) NATION in the earth is like thy people, even like Israel, whom God went to redeem for a people to himself, and to make him a name, and to do for you great things and terrible, for thy land, before thy people, which thou redeemedst to thee from Egypt, from the nations and their gods?" The US was established by Christians that wanted the freedom to worship God as they saw fit. We still have "In God We Trust" on our money. Like the Canaanites, the native Indians were pushed aside because of their pagan religion. The US is now Israel's best friend in the whole world.

In Gen 12:3, the Lord said, "I will BLESS THEM THAT BLESS THEE (Israel), and CURSE HIM THAT CURSETH THEE: and in thee shall all families of the earth be blessed." Countries that line up against Israel will find out that that is not a good idea. God is on Israel's side.

He is and will punish Israel for her sins, but other nations will be sorry that they added to her misery. The Lord is trying to teach her a lesson. Israel will be saved in a day when God's Wrath falls on those attacking Israel (Isa. 66:8).

Too bad that she has to suffer greatly before she will turn to the Lord like she should. She sure has to learn her lessons the hard way. Back in the days of the judges, she would be oppressed until she finally turned to the Lord. He would turn things around and appoint them a judge. When things were going well, she again forgot to obey God. Things would again go sour. Then when it got really bad and she was under servitude, Israel would again turn to the Lord. He would turn things around and appoint another judge. This cycle went on for the whole period of the judges. There were 114 years of servitudes during that time when you add the various ones together. One would think Israel would learn, but she keeps repeating this kind of cycle. This will be the last time though. In Hos 5:15, the Lord of hosts, the Redeemer said, "I will go and return to my place (Heaven) , till they acknowledge their offence, and seek my face: in their affliction they will seek me early." When they do, it won't be but 7 months to the Second Advent (Eze. 39:12,13). Agape

Thanks for a most interesting web site which gives me lots of pleasure. Although a number of potential dates have come and gone in the last couple of weeks, I still try and be ready for the rapture regardless of anticipated date. Your latest scenario of Pentecost is one of many and we shall see... The way prophecy is currently unfolding before our very eyes, I wouldn't be all surprised if the rapture would take place any moment, any day in the forseeable future. Again, many thanks for your dilligence in putting this most interesting material together and to let us share views and opinions. Looking forward to meeting you and Ed personally once we're "outta" here! YBIC

My reply

Jeepers. I got 2 very nice e-mails back to back. You two made my day. Thanks much. Glad you like my Web site. Thinking back, I can see the Lord's hand in things. To begin with, Ed kept telling me over and over that I should be on the Internet. I told him I had to finish my book (the 3rd one), and then I would have time to go on the Internet. As soon as it was completed, he took me down to the Mall and signed us up with Internet in the Mall. I didn't even know there was such a thing as HTML. We were short of cash, but Ed seemed driven, and the Lord was doing the driving. We couldn't afford an expensive book to teach me what I needed to know to put up my Web site. I went out on the Internet and found an HTML guide. I DL that, then I went to Tucows and DL Fetch FTP client and BBEdit HTML editor. Within one month, I had the Web site up and running.

When it was time to name the site, I just typed in Prophecy Corner like I had known it before that moment. I never considered any other name. It was the same way with the Pro and Cons. I just typed that in as if I knew beforehand what it should be. Many times, I would be answering e-mail and have a certain verse pop into my head, the perfect verse. It was obvious to me that the Lord was helping me. I told Ed that the more forgetful I get because I'm 73, the more I can tell that the Lord helps me remember the Bible.

He knows that I love him and am willing to do whatever he wants me to do. I know that I am doing his will for this is right up my alley. I enjoy it. He had been training me up in the way that I should go when there was no Internet. I couldn't have known how this would turn out, but he knew all along. I am so much happier writing than speaking. I'm rather hard of hearing and getting worse all the time. Ed has a very soft voice, and I've spent these 55 years asking him to say things again. He'll talk when facing away from me, or when water or TV is making noise. I haven't a chance to understand the first time around.

A long time ago, I told the Lord that if I had to lose something, it would be my hearing instead of my eyes. He has honored that. I have a cataract starting in one eye only, and it is not affecting my vision. I have an idea that we will be outta here before it causes a problem. Ed has cataracts in both eyes to the point that no other lenses will do him any good. I thank the Lord for my sight and for the ability to keep typing. Ed can't play the piano or type any more. His little strokes took that away from him along with his ability to walk normally. He shuffles along with small steps. It will sure be nice when he can walk like he used to.

I can hardly wait to meet all the nice people that have contacted me. That will be a great day. Agape

Re: Another sign. From: Jim Bramlett. 4-1-02
There are many reasons for believing that the return of Jesus Christ is very soon. Among them are (1) the recent establishment of Israel (God’s time clock), according to prophecy; (2) recent prophetic events in the Middle East, with a world against Israel, leading to a soon climax; (3) the recent end of six millennial days (6,000 years) since Adam, according to revealed biblical history, and the beginning of the seventh "day," according to God’s seven-day pattern; (4) the end of two millennial days since the birth of Christ (using Gregorian years) and since the crucifixion (using Jewish years), and the beginning of the "third day," because Hosea prophesied, "After two days he will revive us; on the third day he will restore us, that we may live in his presence” (6:2).

There are many more reasons that I will not list here. But in a recent letter, Bible scholar J.R. Church added the below:

“There is one irrefutable reason for believing that Christ is coming back very soon. In the past 40 years, the world population has doubled. Forty percent of the people alive today are under 15 years old. If the increase of the population were to stabilize at 40 years, then by 2040 there would be 12 billion mouths to feed. By 2080 the population will increase to 24 billion. By 2120 there will be 48 billion mouths to feed. Already every night, over half the people in our world go to bed hungry. If Jesus does not come -- if there is no end to the procreation of man, we are helpless to cope with what lies ahead in the twenty-first century.”

Church goes on to say, “According to scientific estimates, the oil supply from Arab nations will be depleted within the next 30 years…. Almost all of the gold, silver, tin, copper and other minerals that feed our industrial appetites have been located and mined. Their supply is also running out.”

We are privileged to be actually living in those times seen but dimly by the ancient prophets. We are near that time when the great and merciful Creator of the Universe makes His second appearance on Planet Earth in bodily form -- the first time to humbly and lovingly take all our sins upon Himself, and the second time in power to rule the nations.

Let us love and worship this wonderful One, serve Him, obey Him, and daily watch for His glorious return!...Jim

From: Rich Pope - Re: Rapture Fever
I sure hope you are not going to fuel the "rapture fever" everyone is catching with more lupey exegesis. Yes, there is big trouble in the Middle East, as spoken of by the Tanach. But people, don't quit your jobs, don't sell the farm and for God's sake, don't embarrass yourselves by telling people that some day soon you are going to suddenly vanish while you float up to meet Jesus in the air! You'll just wind up looking dumb, more than you already look.

My reply

I'm sorry that you are not saved yet. You can't say you didn't hear the gospel. The LORD will have to work with you. Eze. 11:17-21(Stone) says, "Thus said the Lord HASHEM/ELOHIM: I will assemble you from the nations and gather you in from the lands where you have been scattered, and give you the Land of Israel. They will come there and remove all its detestations and all its abominations from it. I will give them an undivided heart and I will place a new spirit in them; I will remove the heart of stone from their flesh and give them a heart of flesh, so that they may walk in My decrees and observe My laws and fulfill them. Then they will be a people unto Me, and I will be a God for them. But those whose heart follows the heart of their detestations and abominations, I will place [the consequences of] their way upon their head." Stone's commentary says, "I will replace their tendency toward obstinacy with a frame of mind that is receptive to spiritual matters."

Yeshua said to "Occupy till I come" (Lu. 19:13, KJV). He didn't say to sell houses and take off for the hills. Lord willing, I'll stay where I am until he comes for me. In Mark 13:37, Yeshua said, "And what I say unto you I say unto all, WATCH." I'm watching, looking for our "BLESSED HOPE" (Titus 2:13).

Mat 14:22-25 says, "straightway Jesus constrained his disciples to GET INTO A SHIP (as Noah did in the type of the Rapture, Mt. 24:37), and to go before him unto the other side, while he sent the multitudes away. And when he had sent the multitudes away, HE WENT UP INTO A MOUNTAIN APART (like ascending to Heaven) to pray: and when the evening was come, HE WAS THERE ALONE (without his Bride). But the ship was now in the midst of the sea, tossed with waves: for the wind was contrary. And in the FOURTH WATCH of the night JESUS WENT UNTO THEM (the disciples), walking on the sea." Hmmm. 1998 + 4 = 2002. We'll see. Ascension Day (40th day) and Pentecost (50th day from the Feast of Firstfruits) are coming up May 8, 17 and 18. Shalom and agape

Consider this. Heb 11:40 says, "God having provided some better thing for us, that they without us should NOT BE MADE PERFECT." The OT saints will be part of the Pre-Trib Rapture. So will the apostles. John is an elder. He will be seated as one of the 24 elders, which are made up of the 12 patriarchs and the 12 apostles of Israel. If John is caught up in Rev. 4:1, chances are good that the rest of the elders are too.

> > THE JASPER AND SARDINE AND THE EMERALD THRONE---being GREEN are a picture of Pentecost !! Part of the Jewish tradition on Pentecost is TO HAVE GREEN PLANTS.!!

Thanks. How interesting. I saw that the jasper is the first stone, and the sardine is the last, in the breastplate. That tells us that Christ is the first and the last (Rev. 1:17; 22:13). I also saw that the emerald rainbow around the throne suggested that Christ is of the tribe of Judah, whose stone in the breastplate was an emerald. Emerald in NT Greek is smaragdos, which means "live coal." Judah's flag was green with the Lion on it. However, I never thought about emerald green depicting Pentecost. Two heads are often better than one. I hope Pentecost is the time of our blessed hope. It sure fits Song of Sol. 2:10-14.

Here is some food for thought. Do you think there could be a connection with the Rapture taking place on the FOURTH WATCH? 1998 + 4 = 2002. Rev 21:19 says that "the foundations of the wall of the city (New Jerusalem) were garnished with all manner of precious stones. The first foundation was jasper; the second, sapphire; the third, a chalcedony; the FOURTH, AN EMERALD."

"SOON TO COME TO PASS" would follow the 3 years. It could be the 4th year. My day could be Saturday. He is Lord of the Sabbath. May 18 (Sivan 7) is Saturday.

Mat 14:22-25 says, "straightway Jesus constrained his disciples to GET INTO A SHIP (as Noah did in the type of the Rapture, Mt. 24:37), and to go before him unto the other side, while he sent the multitudes away. And when he had sent the multitudes away, HE WENT UP INTO A MOUNTAIN APART (like ascending to Heaven in 30 AD) to pray: and when the evening was come, HE WAS THERE ALONE (without his Bride). But the ship was now in the midst of the sea, tossed with waves: for the wind was contrary. And in the FOURTH WATCH of the night JESUS WENT UNTO THEM (the disciples), walking on the sea." "Rapture during the 2nd or 3rd watch?" Lorie Jean (3 Apr)
Many of the traditions and customs of Shavuot have evolved from the legends and stories describing the experiences of the Israelites at Mount Sinai. According to tradition the Israelites actually overslept on the morning of G-d's visit. To compensate for this negligence, Jews hold a vigil on the eve of Shavuot. They stay awake from dusk to dawn, keeping themselves busy with the readings of the Torah and the Talmud. A digest of readings has evolved called Tikkun Leil Shavuot, the "Restoration of Shavuot Eve," which includes selections from the Torah, the Prophets, the Talmud, and the Zohar....

Re: None of the 7 churches represent Islam, Hinduism or Buddhism

"Reply To Marie Komar" Joe Hoyle (3 Apr)

> > The spirits of those doctrines and religious systems in the Revelation churches are still in the World today; they are called Protestantism, Romanism, Islam, Hinduism, Buddhism; all the ism's.

I was sure surprised that you said this. I enjoy reading your posts, and this is not your usual kind of exegesis.

Rev. 1:4,5 says, "John to the SEVEN CHURCHES (ekklesia, called out ones, assembly, church) which are in Asia: Grace be unto you, and peace, from him which is, and which was, and which is to come; and from the seven Spirits which are before his throne; And from Jesus Christ." In v. 10 of this Preview of the Rapture, John is caught up to Heaven. He turns and sees Christ in the midst of the seven golden candlesticks (1:12,13). In v. 20, Jesus says, "the seven candlesticks which thou sawest are the seven churches."

No one of Islam, Hinduism, or Buddhism is part of these church groups. All the overcomers of all 7 church groups are caught up in the Pre-Trib Rapture. None that are into Islam, Hinduism, or Buddhism are caught up. None of the 7 churches represent these pagan religions.

> > There are 52 verses given to the Seven Churches in the Book of Revelation. Up to 20% of those verses are of the Lord Jesus condemning those different doctrines and religious systems, and warning the people, (including us) to come out of them; to separate and disassociate ourselves from them. To preach or teach any different is pure apostasy.

Well, let's see. Jesus didn't tell any of Ephesus to come out of the church. He said "repent, and do the first works; or else I will come unto thee quickly, and will remove thy candlestick out of his place (Heaven), except thou repent." To overcomers, he said, "I give to eat of the tree of life, which is in the midst of the paradise of God."

He wouldn't call people of pagan religions overcomers. He wouldn't give them to eat of the tree of life, or take them to "the paradise of God." There is only one name given among men by which we must be saved (Acts 4:12)--"by the name of Jesus Christ of Nazareth" (Acts 4:10).

Let's look at Smyrna. He didn't tell them to come out of the church, either. How about Pergamos? He didn't tell them to come out of the church, either. Well, how about Thyatira. He didn't even tell overcomers to come out of her. He said, "But that which ye have already hold fast till I come" (Rev. 2:25). Surely, he told Sardis to come out of the church. Rather than that, he said, "hold fast, and repent" (3:3). Surely, he didn't tell overcomers to come out of the church of Philadelphia. He didn't even mention any shortcoming to that group. Nope, he didn't say it to Philadelphia. Now for one more, Laodicea. He didn't tell them to come out, but that "because thou art lukewarm, and neither cold nor hot, I will spue thee out of my mouth" (3:16).

Where he said to "Come out of her, my people" is in Rev. 18:4. This is probably talking about the Pre-Wrath Rapture, just before Babylon is destroyed. These would be the Tribulation saints seen in Heaven in Rev. 7:9,14. What Christ says at the Pre-Trib Rapture is "Come up hither" (Rev. 4:1). Agape

One of our fellow Watchers did some research on the “window of opportunity” with some very interesting results. I present them to you here:

God bless, Brother Sal
Brother Sal, Now I verified what I could. Here is what I came up with.

This year, according to the moon calendar, at

the moon would have been new on March 15, 2002 at around 11 am. Moonrise would be at 3:13 am and moonset at 2:57 pm. However, Sunset would have been at 2:19 pm, so it appears that the new moon would have been visible from the hills of Judea by the time of the moonset almost 40 minutes after sunset. I guess all these times are GMT

I calculated Jerusalem to be at 33 N and 33 W latitude and longitude, based on my globe. Its close enough.

According to the site at:

the March 2002 equinox was at March 20 at 19:16 GMT. Thus, as to Judea, it was at GMT +2 hrs.
March 20 is 5 days after the new moon should have been visible in Judea.
As such, this year's Passover dates are incorrect.
According to the Moon calendar, the first new moon of spring should be visible in Judea on April 13, at around sunset. The sun sets at 2:40 and the moonsets at 2:41 GMT. So maybe the moon wouldn’t be visible until the next night, when moonset is at 3:35 and sunset is at 2:41. So, 1 Abib/Nissan would have been either April 13 at sunset or April 14 at sunset. That means Passover would start, astronomically, on April 27 or 28 at sunset.

A little more work showed me that the crescent moon should be visible this year on April 13 during darkness, around 10 pm. This all gets confusing as to which date is which and when it is light out or whatever. I'm doing the best I can with what I have. As such, April 13 should be 1 Nissan.

The current Jewish calendar shows it to be 1 Ayar, so I think I must have the start of the month correct.
13 April makes Friday 26 April to be Passover.
Thus, Sunday, 28 April is First Fruits.
Thus, 40 days later is Ascension, June 6.
Pentecost would be June 16.
Summer starts June 21.

I am convinced this is all correct (as much as humanly possible from here). We really need to keep our eyes peeled on April 28 and thereafter.
Well, there you have it. Are there anymore time scholars out there? Lets hear from you. Now you understand why we call it a “window of opportunity” – and why we never set dates! Thanks, and I love all of you.

My reply

Wow! if Ascension Day is June 6, that was the day before Israel retook the temple area in 1967. We are the temple of the Holy Spirit. Grapes are ripening at that time, as in Song of Solomon 2:10-14. Agape
