Daniel chapter 9 says: "An anointed one will be cut off." Deceptive Christian missionaries want Jews to believe that this biblical verse refers to Jesus.
There are other reasons why Daniel 9 does not refer to Jesus, but most of those reasons are too complicated for many people to understand. Many English-speakers don't even understand English grammar, so how can they possibly be expected to understand Hebrew grammar?
Please allow me to make it simple:
Jeremiah chapter 23 verse 5 teaches that the messiah will reign as a king of Israel. Therefore, those laws and procedures that apply to Jewish kings apply to the messiah.
In order to be considered "anointed," a king must be sprinkled from a special jar of pure olive oil that was prepared by Moses, and was stored in the Jewish Temple (see the Biblical book of Numbers, Chapter 4 verse 16). No other oil is acceptable for anointing a king of Israel.
Jesus was never sprinkled with the special jar of oil that was prepared by Moses and stored securely in the temple.
Since Jesus was never sprinkled with the only oil that counts, he can not be called "an anointed one," as mentioned in Daniel chapter 9.
Now let us read some biblical verses about royal anointment:
The biblical book of I Samuel 10:1 teaches that Saul was anointed as king of Israel when the prophet Samuel poured the special oil on Saul's head: "And Samuel took THE vial of oil, and poured it on his [Saul's] HEAD, and kissed him [Saul]. And he [Samuel] said, 'Indeed, the L-rd has anointed you to be a ruler over his inheritance'."
The biblical book of I Samuel 16:3 teaches that David, the son of Jesse, was anointed as king of Israel when the prophet Samuel poured the special oil on David's HEAD: "And Samuel took THE horn of oil and anointed him [David] in the midst of his brothers ..."
The biblical book of I Kings (chapter one, verses 34, 39 and 45) teaches us who anointed Solomon to be King of Israel:
Verse 34: "And Zadok the [High] Priest and Nathan the prophet shall anoint him [Solomon] there as king over Israel, and blow the horn and say', [Long] live King Solomon'."
Verse 39: "And Zadok the [High] Priest took THE HORN OF OIL FROM THE TABERNACLE (sanctuary) and anointed Solomon..."
Verse 45: "And Zadok the [High] Priest and Nathan the prophet have anointed him (Solomon) king..."
Notice what these Biblical verses have in common:
In all of the Biblical verses quoted above, the new King of Israel was annointed by a universally recognized prophet -- Samuel or Nathan. Who was the universally recognized prophet that poured oil on Jesus?
The New Testament book of Matthew, chapter 26, verse 7, states that it was "a woman" who annointed Jesus, not a prophet. The same thing is said in Mark chapter 14, verse 3.
In all of the Biblical verses quoted above, the prophets used "THE vial of oil" or "THE horn of oil" or "THE HORN OF OIL from the tabernacle (sanctuary)" to annoint the new King of Israel, not merely "a vial of oil" or "a horn of oil."
This indicates that special oil had to be used, not just any ordinary oil.
When Solomon was annointed, the verse quoted above specifically mentioned that the anointment oil used was taken from "the tabernacle (sanctuary)."
The woman that poured oil over Jesus used oil from "an alabaster vial." No mention of alabaster vials is found in the Biblical books of Samuel or Kings.
NOTE: King David and his royal descendants were annointed with oil poured from a "HORN," as in the verses quoted above.
This indicated the superiority of the Davidic kings over the non-Davidic kings of Israel (like Saul) who were annointed from a mere "vial."
If Jesus was a king of the Davidic dynasty, then why was he annointed from a mere "vial," and not from a "horn?"
In the first two Biblical verses quoted above, the new King of Israel had oil poured on his HEAD ONLY.
Psalm 23 verse 5 also says that King David had oil poured on his HEAD ONLY.
When did Jesus have oil poured on his HEAD ONLY?
The New Testament book of John, chapter 12, verse 3, says that Jesus has the oil poured on his "feet" only, not his head.
NOTE: In contradiction, Matthew 26 and Mark 14 both state that IN THE SAME INCIDENT, Jesus had the oil poured on his head only. Which version are "believers" supposed to believe in?
Saul, David and Solomon all sat on the throne of Israel soon after they were annointed, and successfully fought against those nations that were enemies of Israel.
Saul, David and Solomon commanded entire governments, complete with soldiers, spies, tax collectors, foreign ambassadors, treasuries, palace servants and courts. Jesus never ruled a goverment like Saul and David did.
Even Jesus himself admitted that his annointment was NOT a preparation for kingship (as it was for Saul, David and Solomon) but was instead a preparation "for burial." (Source: the New Testament book of Matthew, chapter 26, verse 12. See also Mark 14:8)
Also, when did Jesus successfully fight against those nations that were enemies of Israel? When did Jesus command an the entire government of Israel, like Saul, David and Solomon?
The oil used to annoint the kings of Israel was pure olive oil. Yet the New Testament book of John, chapter 12, verse 3, states the woman annointed Jesus with "a pound of very costly perfume of pure NARD." The kings of Israel are annointed with pure olive oil, not with "perfume" or "nard."
Jesus was NEVER sprinkled with the special jar of oil that was stored in the temple. He was also never sprinkled (anointed) with oil by a prophet.
If the type of anointment that Jesus had was adequate, then ANYBODY could get a peasant woman to pour ordinary oil over him, and then claim to be "anointed."
This is critical because the word "messiah" means "annointed" in Hebrew. Therefore, claiming to be anointed is literally equivalent to claiming to be a messiah.
Since Jesus never experienced a proper anointment, the biblical verse "An anointed one will be cut off" (Daniel, chapter 9) cannot possibly refer to him.
You can't see the big picture for focusing on small details, and time may be getting very short for you to get it figured out. That anointing olive oil, no matter how pure, still was a stand-in for something much much greater, God's anointing with his Holy Spirit. When Yeshua was baptized by John the Baptist, God sent his Holy Spirit down on Yeshua in the form of a dove, another symbol of God's Holy Spirit.
We cannot afford to follow what the scribes and Pharisees have said. In Mt. 5:20 (HRV - Hebraic Roots Version), Yeshua said, "I tell you, unless your righteousness exceeds the righteousness of the P'rushim and scribes, you will not come into the Kingdom of Heaven."
Mt. 3:7-17 (HRV) says, "when he (John the Baptist) saw many from the P'rushim and from the Tz'sukim, which came to his immersion, he said to them, "Generation of vipers, who has informed you to flee from the wrath to come? Bring forth therefore the fruit in keeping with repentance: and say not among yourselves, 'Because Abraham is our father...'for I say to you, that Elohim has the power to raise up sons of Abraham from these stones." And already the axe is laid at the root of the trees, and every tree, which yields not good fruit, will be cut down, and cast into the fire. I am only immersing you in water to repentance, and he that comes after me is mightier than I, whose sandals I am not fit to carry, and HE WILL IMMERSE YOU WITH THE FIRE OF THE RUACH HaKODESH, whose winnowing fork is in his hand, that he may clean his threshing floor, and gather his wheat (believers) into the granary, and he will burn up the chaff in unquenchable fire." Then came Yeshua from Galil by the Yarden to Yochanan, that he may be immersed of him. And Yochanan spoke to him, saying, "I have need to be immersed of you, and you come to me?" Then Yeshua answered and said to him, "Permit it now: for in this it is an obligation for us to fulfill all righteousness." He gave him leave, and immersed him. And after Yeshua was immersed and gone up from the water, and behold, the heavens were opened to him, and, behold, THE SPIRIT OF ELOHIM DESCENDING FROM THE HEAVENS AS THE LIKENESS OF A DOVE, AND RESTED UPON HIM, and behold, FROM THE HEAVENS A VOICE, SAYING, THIS IS MY BELOVED SON, in whom my nefesh is pleased."
As in the Levitical order, Yeshua was washed (immersed in water when baptized) then anointed. The difference is that he was anointed once for all as Prophet, High Priest, and King. At his second coming, he will be High Priest and King after the order of Melchisedek, not after the order of Aaron.
I Tim. 6:13-16 (CJB) says, "I charge you before God, who gives life to all things, and before THE MESSIAH YESHUA, who in his witness to Pontius Pilate gave the same good testimony, to obey your commission spotlessly and irreproachably UNTIL OUR LORD YESHUA THE MESSIAH APPEARS. His appearing will be brought about in its own time by the blessed and sole Sovereign, who is KING OF KINGS AND LORD OF LORDS, WHO ALONE IS IMMORTAL, WHO DWELLS IN UNAPPROACHABLE LIGHT THAT NO HUMAN BEING HAS EVER SEEN OR CAN SEE -- to him be honor and eternal power. Amen (so be it)."
Rev 17:14 (CJB) says that the ten horns "will go to war against the Lamb (Yeshua, our Passover), but the Lamb will defeat them, because HE IS LORD OF LORDS AND KING OF KINGS, AND THOSE (believers who are Raptured) WHO ARE CALLED, CHOSEN AND FAITHFUL WILL OVERCOME ALONG WITH HIM." I would love to see you in that group.

Since Yeshua was anointed by the Holy Spirit, he is the only one that can qualify to be the one that Dan. 9:25,26 is talking about.
In Daniel 9, 70 weeks of years, 490 years, are decreed upon the Israelites. Verses 25 and 26 (Stone) say, "Know and comprehend: From the emergence of the word to return and to build Jerusalem until THE ANOINTMENT OF THE PRINCE will be seven septets, and for sixty-two septets it will be rebuilt, street and moat, but in troubled times. Then, after the sixty-two septets, THE ANOINTED ONE WILL BE CUT OFF AND WILL EXIST NO LONGER."
God anointed Yeshua with his Holy Spirit in 30 AD. No one after that can qualify as the anointed one. Either Yeshua is your Messiah, or you won't have one.
The 483 years (49 + 434 = 483) of Dan. 9:25,26 started to be counted in the first year of Cyrus, when he made the decree to rebuild Jerusalem and the temple. Isa. 44:28 (Stone) says, HASHEM (YHVH) "says of Cyrus, 'He is My shepherd, He will fulfill all My desires,' to say of Jerusalem, "It shall be built,' and of the Temple, 'It shall be established." That decree was issued in BC 454. 483 - 454 + 1 (no zero year) = 30 AD. If your Messiah didn't come in 30 AD, he can't come now. The time for his arrival was 30 AD. There is no way to stretch that up to the present day.
Yeshua, the anointed one, was cut off (karath, killed) in 30 AD. Because he is the Son of God and the Spirit of God is upon him, he is called "the arm of HASHEM" in Isa. 53. Verses 5 and 6 (Stone) tell us that "the chastisement upon him was for our benefit, and through his wounds, we were healed. We have all strayed like sheep, each of us turning his own way, and HASHEM inflicted upon him the iniquity of us all."
I hope you can understand and be saved by accepting Yeshua as your Redeemer. There is no other way to be saved. You forfeited your chance to be saved by keeping Torah the first time you sinned. No one was ever saved that way. Only by faith in either the Messiah that was to come, or faith in the Messiah that has already come, can anyone be saved at any time. God decided that and we can't change it. He is Sovereign. Agape
I will stand before Hashem and when he asks me why I rejected Jesus, I'll simply say, "By your own words LORD as found in the Tanach." I am confident that Hashem will be pleased I was faithful to His words and not faithful to the hopes and pointless dreams of mankind.
Here is MY prediction...You keep emphasizing that time is short...My prediction is that you will pass from this earth, that your children will pass from this earth, and their children will pass from this earth until the infinite generation of your progeny is born and yet Jesus STILL will not have come back. Rich
One place where you go wrong is in assuming that the Messiah will only come once, whereas Scripture indicates that he will come twice. Some Jews have recognized this and decided that there would be 2 Messiahs, Messiah ben Joseph and Messiah ben David. Instead of two different Messiahs, there is one, Messiah ben David, who comes twice. The first time, he came to die as our perfect Passover Lamb so that we can be saved. At the 2nd coming, he will hold three offices, Prophet, High Priest and King of kings.
John 1:18 (HRV, Hebraic-Roots Version) says, "Man has not ever seen Eloah (God the Father). The only begotten Eloah (Yeshua, God the Son), that one who is in the bosom of his father, has declared him." Every time that the angel of the Lord was seen in Old Testament days, it was not God the Father. It was God's Son. This was true at Sinai. The Son of God gave Moses the 10 Commandments. The Son of God talked with Moses face to face. When God appeared to Abraham with the two angels, just before Sodom and Gomorrah were destroyed, it was the pre-incarnate Son of God. When God prepared a body for him, Yeshua became the incarnate Son of God.
There is one Son of God, who comes to Israel in two different capacities. Isa. 44:6 (Stone) says, "Thus said HASHEM (YHVH), King of Israel AND its Redeemer, HASHEM (YHVH) Master of Legions: I am the first (YHVH King of Israel) AND I am the last, (YHVH the Redeemer and YHVH Master of Legions), and aside from Me there is no God."
YHVH Master of Legions is your Redeemer. You can accept him and be saved or you can deny him and be lost. We have only been given one lifetime to make our choice. He had to be the perfect sacrifice to be our Redeemer. Heb 9:22 (HRV) says, "[almost] everything is cleansed by blood in the Torah, and WITHOUT THE SHEDDING OF BLOOD THERE IS NO REMISSION." He was willing to go through the terrible agonies of crucifixion so that you could be saved, but I'm sad to say that it doesn't apply to you--unless you accept Yeshua as your Redeemer.
Heb 9:13-17 (HRV) says, "For if the blood of goats and of calves and the ash of a heifer was sprinkled on those who were defiled, and it sanctified them to the cleansing of their flesh, Then how much more, THE BLOOD OF THE MESSIAH, WHO BY THE ETERNAL SPIRIT OFFERED HIS NEFESH WITHOUT SPOT TO ELOAH, WILL CLEANSE OUR CONSCIENCE FROM DEAD WORKS THAT WE MIGHT SERVE THE LIVING ELOAH? BECAUSE OF THIS, HE BECAME THE MEDIATOR OF THE RENEWED COVENANT SO THAT BY HIS DEATH HE BECAME SALVATION FOR THOSE WHO HAVE TRANSGRESSED AGAINST THE FIRST COVENANT.." He is the only chance you have. Please don't muff it. Forever is a long time to be sorry.
Luke 4:14-21 (KJV, I have it on my computer to Copy and Paste) says, "Jesus returned in the power of the Spirit into Galilee: and there went out a fame of him through all the region round about. And he taught in their synagogues, being glorified of all. And he came to Nazareth, where he had been brought up: and, as his custom was, he went into the synagogue on the sabbath day, and stood up for to read. And there was delivered unto him the book of the prophet Esaias. And when he had opened the book, he found the place where it was written, The Spirit of the Lord is upon me, because he hath anointed me to preach the gospel to the poor; he hath sent me to heal the brokenhearted, to preach deliverance to the captives, and recovering of sight to the blind, to set at liberty them that are bruised, To preach the acceptable year of the Lord. And he closed the book, and he gave it again to the minister, and sat down. And the eyes of all them that were in the synagogue were fastened on him. And he began to say unto them, This day is this scripture fulfilled in your ears."
The one who gave the scriptures in the first place knew how to divide the scriptures properly. Isa 61:1,2 says, "The Spirit of the Lord GOD is upon me; because the LORD hath anointed me to preach good tidings unto the meek; he hath sent me to bind up the brokenhearted, to proclaim liberty to the captives, and the opening of the prison to them that are bound; To proclaim the acceptable year of the LORD, and the day of vengeance of our God; to comfort all that mourn."
Notice that he did not read the part in blue. The day of God's vengeance is at the end of the shortened 70th week of Dan. 9:27. It is still future for us, but not by much. We are living in the latter days. The end of this age is near. I think it will end at 6 PM as Tishri 1, 5768 (Sept. 13, 2007) begins. That is 7 good years and 7 bad years from Sept. 13, 1993, when the Oslo Accords were signed. They were ratified 3 days later in Israel. It was Tishri 1, 5754. Adding the 7 good and 7 bad years brings us to Tishri 1, 5768, which is Sept. 13, 2007. That seems like one of the signs of the end times that we don't want to miss. 2007 is also 40 years from June 7, 1967, when God gave the temple area back to Israel. Too bad she gave control of it away. I don't think that made God very happy.
Zech 14:4-7 tells what will happen when Yeshua returns. "his feet shall stand in that day upon the mount of Olives, which is before Jerusalem on the east, and the mount of Olives shall cleave in the midst thereof toward the east and toward the west, and there shall be a very great valley; and half of the mountain shall remove toward the north, and half of it toward the south. And ye shall flee to the valley of the mountains; for the valley of the mountains shall reach unto Azal: yea, ye shall flee, like as ye fled from before the earthquake in the days of Uzziah king of Judah: and the LORD my God shall come, and all the saints with thee. And it shall come to pass in that day, that the light shall not be clear, nor dark: But it shall be one day which shall be known to the LORD, not day, nor night: but it shall come to pass, that at evening time it shall be light."
I intend to be in that group of saints. Hope to see you there too.
> > I will stand before Hashem and when he asks me why I rejected Jesus, I'll simply say, "By your own words LORD as found in the Tanach." I am confident that Hashem will be pleased I was faithful to His words and not faithful to the hopes and pointless dreams of mankind.
All judgment has been given to the Son of God. John 5:22 says, "For the Father judgeth no man, but hath committed all judgment unto the Son." When you stand before Him at the Judgment Seat of Christ, you will be without excuse. You will be condemned by your own words. It will be plain that you rejected Jesus, your only hope.
There are at least 40 Rabbis in Israel that have accepted Christ (the anointed one) as their Redeemer and Messiah. They will get eternal life, because they were smart enough to figure this out. I hope you will be able to stand with them in that day. Agape
The Beast's 7 heads symbolize the 7 kingdoms that oppressed Israel... He will be the ruler over the territories of all these empires. Thus, the Beast's kingdom will become the eighth kingdom to oppress Israel. The 10 horns symbolize the 10 kings of the revised Roman Empire. But the 10 crowns on the horns tells us the Beast will rule over these 10 kings....
7. Revised Rome
***My list is different. In Rev. 17, at the time of the Rapture, 5 kings are fallen (leaders of Babel through Rome), one is (the Pope), and the other, False Prophet, has yet to come.
***1. Babel I
***2. Babylon II
***6. Ecclesiastical Rome, headed by the Pope
***7. Babylon III, headed by the False Prophet
***8. Satan himself
The beast represents a man, a kingdom, a supernatural being. We have a man, the Beast or Antichrist, who rules over ten kings of the Revised Roman Empire; an eighth kingdom that oppresses Israel comes on the scene; and Satan is directing the whole show.(for a while, at least)...
***I think the Beast will rule over the 10 kings, each over one of the ten regions this world has been divided into. The eighth of Rev. 17 is not a kingdom, but Satan himself.
Satan gives his power, authority and throne to the Beast. The Beast, as Antichrist, is a man, he is not Satan incarnate. Satan, an angel, cannot enter into a man, only evil spirits who do not have bodies can enter into a man. Proof against this incarnate theory: at armageddon the Beast is thrown into the lake of fire while Satan is chained in hell.
***The Beast of Rev. 13:2-10 is not possessed by Satan, but he is given his throne and power by Satan. However, the False Prophet is Satan-possessed. Rev. 13:11 says, "I beheld another beast coming up out of the earth; and he had two horns like a lamb (2 comings like Christ; in Judas Iscariot and the False Prophet), and he spake as a dragon" (because he is Satan-possessed). After the False Prophet is deposed from office on the Day of God's Wrath, Satan comes out of him and operates on his own as "the eighth."
I am so impressed with that link of Orion that you posted in your pro-con 910. I vaguely remembered a Bible story where someone went into a land and took a hunting dog with him. I went to www.blueletterbible.org to search for those verses that talked about the hunting dog but could not find them. I do remember tho that the hunting dog stands for the gentiles. When I went back to look again at the link of Orion, I SAW THE HUNTING DOG! Can you see him also? He is a magnificent dog, standing with his ears up. I can see his face, his nose, eyes, jowls, his long powerful neck, his back, and his tail. Heis broadside to the viewer and he is standing facing toward the figure's left side. His head is at the figure's left calf.
Only God in his gracious goodness could do these wonders! Thank you Jesus! Hebrews 11:6 He is a rewarder of them who diligently seek Him.
In the gospel in the stars, Orion (one coming forth as light) is the hunter holding up the head and skin of a lion as a victor's trophy. The hilt of his sword is a lamb, tying him in with Aries the Ram and with Jesus Christ. His club touches the feet of the Bride and Bridegroom in Gemini, showing that connection.
Beside Orion are Canis Major and Canis Minor, the two dogs that are Decans of Gemini. The larger one has the brightest star, Sirius (the Prince). Al Shira Al Jemenia means the Prince of the Right Hand, which is Christ. The star Aschere means WHO SHALL COME.
Canis Minor has the star Procyon, the Redeemer, Saviour. Some think Canis Minor represents the redeemed, the church, but I think both dogs help us understand the Bridegroom in Gemini. The Bride in Gemini holds a harp, symbol of the redeemed to tell that story. First, Christ came as "the Messiah the Prince" (Dan. 9:25), who is the Redeemer. When he comes the 2nd time, he will be the Messiah the Prince of the Right Hand who has become King.
Saturn is the slowest moving of all the planets. Now I think I can see why. It is in conjunction with Regulus, the King Star in Leo on Sept. 12, 2007 (last day of this age), on Sept. 13, 2007 (Day of God that begins the Millennium), and on April 6, 2008 (Second Advent). I didn't check to see if Saturn did a retrograde loop sometime during that last 7 months, but it seems likely.
I think the 6th seal will be broken on Sept. 12, 2007, and the 7th seal broken the next day on Sept. 13, 2007. The celestial falling figs (small rocks) begin when the 6th seal is broken (Rev. 6:12f). By noon (Zeph. 2:4,5) the next day, both large asteroid pieces impact Earth. I expect Jesus to be crowned King of kings and Lord of lords on Sept. 13, 2007, and there is Saturn in conjunction with Regulus the king star in Leo, which stands for the Lion of the Tribe of Judah. In my eyes, that's perfect planning.
I expect Jesus to become King in Heaven and be given his earthly Kingdom on Sept. 13, 2007 and the visible King on Earth April 6, 2008, the Second Advent. And there is Saturn in conjuction with Regulus the king star in Leo--both times. The music of the spheres has risen to a crescendo at the very best time. It took some mind-boggling planning to pull that off after so many years. Agape
