Stunning New Evidence that Jesus Lived

Scholars link first-century bone box to James, brother of Jesus.
By Gordon Govier, Christianity Today, Week of October 21

...1 Corinthians 15:7, mentions that Jesus appeared to James after the resurrection. James then became the leader of the Jerusalem church.

Acts 15 records that James rendered judgment at a church council that met to adjudicate issues raised by Paul and Barnabas. He was also probably the author of the New Testament book that bears his name. The first-century Jewish historian Josephus says that around A.D. 62 the high priest Ananus arranged for the death of "one James, the brother of Jesus who was called the Christ/Messiah."...

My comment

Here is exactly what Josephus said in Whiston's translation of Ant. XX.IX.1. Included in the heading was "JAMES WAS SLAIN."
"1....This younger Ananus, who, as we have told you already, took the high priesthood, was a bold man in his temper, and very insolent; he was also of the sect of the Sadducees, who were very rigid in judging offenders, above all the rest of the Jews, as we have already observed; when, therefore, Ananus was of this disposition, he thought he had now a proper opportunity [to exercise his authority.] Festus was now dead, and Albinus was but upon the road; so he assembled the sanhedrim of the judges, and brought before them THE BROTHER OF JESUS, WHO WAS CALLED CHRIST, WHOSE NAME WAS JAMES, and some others, [or some of his companions;] and when he had formed an accusation against them as breakers of the law, HE DELIVERED THEM TO BE STONED."

"Ya'akov bar Yosef akhui di Yeshua"

The Ossuary of James The Aramaic letters etched on a side of the newly discovered ossuary reads "Ya'akov bar Yosef akhui di Yeshua"....

Everything connecting to the bible is all faith, so where does faith start and end? James says faith without works is dead , if I believe,, John says it is works so how do I get saved?

My reply

> > how do I get saved?

John doesn't say that salvation is by works. It is by faith. Here is how to be saved. John 3:16-18 says, "God so loved the world, that he gave his only begotten Son, that whosoever (put your name here) believeth in him should not perish, but have everlasting life. For God sent not his Son into the world to condemn the world; but that the world through him might be saved. He that believeth on him is not condemned: but he that believeth not is condemned already, because he hath not believed in the name of the only begotten Son of God."

Faith starts when we first believe in Jesus Christ. It ends when faith is turned to reality, when we receive that which we hoped for.

James knew that true faith will show in our lives. The love of God that dwells in us will transform us. The Spirit of Christ dwells in us to help us become more Christ like. Therefore, your faith is shown by your deeds. Your deeds do not save you, but your true faith will be understood by others when they see how you act. True changes in your life are brought about because of your true faith. Agape

Her reply

How about those who have good morals and are atheists? does good morals then save them? is theirs deeds are good?

My reply

Good morals do not save anyone. Good deeds do not save anyone. No amount of good deeds will save us, "For ALL HAVE SINNED, and come short of the glory of God" (Rom 3:23)."

Isa 64:6 says, "we are ALL as an unclean thing, and ALL OUR RIGHTEOUSNESSES ARE AS FILTHY RAGS; and we all do fade as a leaf; and OUR INIQUITIES, LIKE THE WIND, HAVE TAKEN US AWAY."
Psa 14:3 says, "They are ALL gone aside, they are ALL together become filthy: there is NONE that doeth good, no, NOT ONE."
Psa 53:1 explains, "The fool hath said in his heart, There is no God. Corrupt are they, and have done abominable iniquity: there is NONE THAT DOETH GOOD."
Psa 53:3 agrees. It says, "Every one of them is gone back: they are altogether become filthy; there is NONE THAT DOETH GOOD, NO, NOT ONE. "
Rom 3:12 They are all gone out of the way, they are together become unprofitable; there is NONE THAT DOETH GOOD, NO, NOT ONE."

The Law didn't save anyone--ever. Under the Old Testament, they were actually saved by believing that the Redeemer would come. Under the New Testament we are saved by believing that Jesus Christ is the Redeemer that was to come. The most recent Last Will and Testament became effective at the death of the Testator, the YHVH of hosts, the Lord Jesus Christ.

The law showed us what sin is. Gal. 3:24-27 says, "the law was our schoolmaster to bring us unto Christ, that we might be JUSTIFIED BY FAITH." But after that faith is come, we are no longer under a schoolmaster. For ye are ALL the children of God BY FAITH IN CHRIST JESUS."

All that do not accept Jesus Christ as their own personal Saviour are lost and on a slick slide to Hell. In Act 4:12, God's word says, "Neither is there salvation in any other: for there is NONE OTHER NAME under heaven given among men, WHEREBY WE MUST BE SAVED."

Man was put on this Earth to be tested for about 7000 years. During the 6000 years since Adam was cast out of the Garden of Eden for sinning, not obeying God, man has been tested not being able to see God, except for the 33.5 years that Jesus, the Son of God, was on Earth.

Jesus had two complete natures, one of man and one of God. Isa. 9:6,7 explains, "For unto us a child is born (inheriting his human nature from his mother), unto us a son is given (inheriting his deity from his Father): and the government shall be upon his shoulder: and his name shall be called Wonderful, Counsellor, The mighty God, The everlasting Father, The Prince of Peace. Of the increase of his government and peace there shall be no end, upon the throne of David (after the flesh, he's the Son of David), and upon his kingdom, to order it, and to establish it with judgment and with justice from henceforth even for ever. The zeal of the LORD OF HOSTS (the Redeemer, Christ) will perform this."

The "LORD OF HOSTS" is Christ, the Redeemer. Isa. 44:6 says, "Thus saith the LORD (YHVH) the King of Israel, and his REDEEMER the LORD (YHVH) of hosts; I am the first (YHVH, King of Israel), and I am the last (YHVH of hosts); and beside me there is no God." In Old Testament times, YHVH the King of Israel, the pre-incarnate Christ, dealt with man. In New Testament times, the incarnate Christ is dealing with man. The Angel of the Lord that met Abraham was the pre-incarnate Christ. John 1:18 says, "NO MAN HATH SEEN GOD (i.e., the Father) at any time; the only begotten Son, which is in the bosom of the Father, he hath declared him." 1Jo 4:12 agrees, saying "NO MAN HATH SEEN GOD at any time."

I Cor. 5:19 says, "GOD WAS IN CHRIST, RECONCILING THE WORLD UNTO HIMSELF." Mt. 1:23 says, "a virgin shall be with child, and shall bring forth a son, and they shall call his name EMMANUEL, which being interpreted is, GOD WITH US." In John 10:30, Jesus said, "I AND MY FATHER ARE ONE."

Satan was tested before Adam was created. He failed his test, was judged and sentenced to prison. Evidently, he appealed his case, saying something like, "How can a good God consign his creatures to prison?" God seems to have created man to prove his perfect justice to Satan. If man, not able to see God, can still obey God, He is perfectly just to put Satan (who could see God) in prison for his misdeeds. Agape

New submarine discoveries spark interest in submerged cities
Once dismissed by experts as folklore, the release of photographic and documentary evidence pointing to the possibility of prehistoric human settlements off the coast of Penghu has experts re-examining theories about the legendary continent of Mudalu
By Gavin Phipps

What began this summer as a search for a legendary underwater town off the coast of Penghu by members of the Underwater Archeological Institute (...[another language]) and the Association of Diving School International (...), made headlines earlier this week -- but for unexpected reasons.

The expedition failed to locate the town they were searching for, but in late July, the group instead stumbled, or rather swam across, a 100m-long wall-like structure 28m beneath the murky waters of the archipelago's Hsichi (...) and Tungchi (...) islets.

Measuring 50cm in width, one meter in height and 100m in length and positioned on an east-west axis, the mysterious underwater edifice might not have been what the team was searching for, but the find has still managed to stoke imaginations across the nation.

The public was so enthralled with the news that after Public Television Service (...) broadcast a documentary charting the discovery of the wall, it was inundated with calls from the general public even before the program's final credits had come to halt.

"It was a huge surprise. Scores of people called in wanting more information and a longer, more in-depth show [about the wall]," said Ke Chin-yuan (...), PTS news assignment editor. "Because the existence of such things in Taiwan is not mentioned in history books, is not common knowledge and is rarely, if ever, the topic of TV a documentary, the program sparked a huge amount of interest."

Underwater Archaeology Institute divers inspect a wall-like structure that some believe may have been built 20 thousand years ago.

Home to roughly one thousand predominantly elderly civilians and a coast guard detachment, the Hsichi and Tungchi islets -- which together have a land mass of less than two-square kilometers and no paved roads -- were, until earlier this week, Taiwan's most forgotten outposts....

The rest of Taiwan may have been awe struck by the find, but the island's residents remained blase about the events that took place on their doorstep. They've been trying to get people to believe in stories of sunken cities for years.

"The stories are part of Penghu's unwritten history. I've known of other such structures in the area since the late 1970s. But it was in 1992 that I first began to hear stories of a submerged town and the possibilities of an entire temple somewhere in the area," recalled expedition leader, Steve Shieh (...), who also heads up the UAI. "While sounding pretty outlandish, the stories came from people I know and respect. These are not crackpots. Finding the wall was a complete accident, however, as we didn't know about its existence at all."

Regardless of the stir it has caused, the recent find is not the first such discovery to take place in Taiwan's territorial waters. In 1982, a Japanese research team discovered a 100m-long cross-like structure in waters off of Penghu's Hujing Island (...). Since then three other underwater wall-like structures have been pinpointed by independent underwater survey teams.

Widespread acceptance of the recent expedition's findings owes a lot to the fact that it is the first such expedition to receive assistance from the nation's only official marine archeological team -- the National Museum of History's Marine Archeology Team (...) -- in order to search for what are considered by many academics as purely legendary sites.

Formed in 1995 to excavate the scattered remains of a Chinese Qianlong (...) period (1736-1796) vessel which was posthumously named, General No. 1 (...) after Penghu's General Islet (...) where it was discovered by fishermen in 1994, the team comprises deep-sea divers, anthropologists and archeologists and is funded by the Ministry of Education (...).

"It was a great opportunity for us to get involved with such a venture. Not only did our presence mean that there were qualified archeologists and anthropologists on hand, but it gave the expedition a lot of credibility," explained Yang Shi-zhao (...), secretary and research fellow with NMHMAT. "Hopefully the find will pave the way for more surveys of the area and eventually a better understanding of our history. We might even be able to prove that some truth lies behind the legend of Mudalu."

Supposedly stretching from somewhere in what is today the South China Sea to Hawaii and encompassing many of the Pacific Islands, Mudalu (...) was, according to the legend, home to Asia's earliest peoples, the Ketagalan (...), who supposedly lived in Asia sometime between seven and 15 thousand years ago.

Quite possibly Asia's earliest civilization, the Ketagalan peoples were reportedly incredibly advanced for the time, with both the know-how to create household utensils, a written language and the ability to construct pyramids and megaliths....

While still waiting for more precise dating results, experts have dated the structure to somewhere in the region of seven to 20 thousand years old.

"I'm still open to suggestions, but if the legend of Mudalu is to be believed, then bulwarks could possibly be found off the coast not only of Penghu, but Hualien and Taitung. One of the most famous finds, that took place 20 years ago, was off the coast of Okinawa," continued Yang. "I certainly don't believe in the UFO connection, but the existence of a long forgotten settlement is certainly plausible."

Incoming email, Re: Books of the Bible

I have read your site for many years with great interest in seeking GOD and his love.

Could you please comment on books written (i.e. Enoch, the books of the Apocrypha) and others not specifically included in the present day bible.

Do you believe this is GOD's choice or mans? Yours in Christ Jesus

My reply

Glad you enjoy my site.

It was God's choice. After I had read the Bible enough times to not get my head mixed up, I read all the apocryphal books I could find in BIOLA's library. They are valuable as history, but not as God-breathed Scripture. We need to compare them with Scripture before believing what they say. Agape

Incoming email, Re: baptist

so who came in the flesh Matt. says Immanual God with us? or 1 John says Jesus Christ.?

My reply

The one of many names is Jesus/Yeshua, and he is Immanuel, God with us. Isa 7:14 says, "Therefore the Lord himself shall give you a sign; Behold, a virgin shall conceive, and bear a son, and shall call his name Immanuel" (which means God with us).

Jesus in Hebrew is Yeshua, meaning Yahweh (YHVH) is yeshuah (salvation). Jesus came in his Father's name.

Ex. 15:2,3 says, "The LORD (YHVH, Yahweh) is my strength and song, and he is become my salvation (Yeshuah)." 2Co 5:19 says it plainly, "God was in Christ, reconciling the world unto himself."

The Saviour's name is Jesus in English, Iesous in Greek, and Yehoshua (Joshua), Y'shua or Yeshua in Hebrew. No matter which name we call him, he is Immanuel, God with us.

> > so who came in the flesh

God came in the flesh of Jesus. He is the Son of God and is called the Word of God. Rev 19:13 says, "And he was clothed with a vesture dipped in blood: and his name is called The Word of God.

John 1:1-3,14 says, "In the beginning was the Word (the pre-incarnate Christ), and the Word was with God, and the Word was God. The same was in the beginning with God. All things were made by him; and without him was not any thing made that was made....And the Word (the Son of God) was made flesh (dwelling in Jesus, the Son of God), and dwelt among us, (and we beheld his glory, the glory as of the only begotten of the Father,) full of grace and truth."

We can understand the two natures of Jesus Christ in Isa. 9:6. It says, "For unto us a child is born (inheriting his human nature from his mother), unto us a son is given (inheriting his deity from his Father): and the government shall be upon his shoulder: and his name shall be called Wonderful, Counsellor, The mighty God, The everlasting Father, The Prince of Peace."

He has lots of names, each tells us more about Jesus Christ, the Son of God. Agape

Incoming email, Re-baptism, also from the person above

Is this chart correct.?

Acts 19 1
And it came to pass, that, while Apollo's was at Corinth, Paul having passed through the upper coasts came to Ephesus; and finding certain disciples.
He said unto them, Have ye received the Holy Ghost since ye believed? {does it sound like you get the Holy Ghost when you believe?} And they said unto him, We have not so much as heard whether there be any Holy Ghost.[ and yet they were believers}
And he said unto them, Unto what then were ye baptized? And they said, Unto John's baptism. this is # 1
Then said Paul, John verily baptized with the baptism of repentance, saying unto the people, that they should believe on him which should come after him, that is, on Christ Jesus.
When they heard this, they were baptized in the name of the Lord Jesus, {this was the re-baptism under Paul in the name of Jesus Christ} {THIS IS BAPTISM # 2 }
And when Paul had laid his hands upon them, the Holy Ghost came on them; and they spake with tongues, and prophesied. {Now they received the Holy Ghost }

ANSWER = because they were not baptized in the name of the one who died for you...

Matthew 28:19
Go ye therefore and teach all nations, baptizing them in the NAME {not name's } of the FATHER, SON AND HOLY GHOST: what is the one name?

FATHER = LORD Isa. 42:8 "I am the Lord and that is my name"
SON =JESUS Matt 1:21 " she shall bring forth a "Son and call his name JESUS
HOLY GHOST = CHRIST the anointed JOHN 44:25 Messias cometh called CHRIST 1 COR 1:14 THE POWER OFGOD.
now we have the ONE NAME LORD JESUS CHRIST and that is why Paul had to re-baptized John's disciples.

My reply

> > Is this chart correct.?

Not all of it. We don't have to be baptized in water to be saved. We don't have to be re-baptized in water to be saved, either. We do not live in the first century when THE ACTS OF THE APOSTLES took place and the gospel went out to the world. This "chart" tries to apply 1st century things to the 21st century. The early 1st century was a transition period. Doesn't it make sense that THE ACTS OF THE APOSTLES mostly applies to the the acts of the apostles in the 1st century?

It seems that you are trying to make salvation in our times a series of steps (1. accept Christ, 2. be baptized in water, 3. be baptized with the Holy Spirit, etc.) by scrutinizing THE ACTS OF THE APOSTLES and the way salvation was brought first to the Jews, then to the Gentiles in the interim when changes were being introduced. The first time the Holy Spirit came upon the 120 apostles and disciples was different from the way the Holy Spirit comes upon us.

Acts 2:2-4 says, "suddenly there came a sound from heaven as of a rushing mighty WIND, and it filled all the house where they were sitting. And there appeared unto them CLOVEN TONGUES LIKE AS OF FIRE, and it sat upon each of them. And they were all FILLED WITH THE HOLY GHOST, and began to SPEAK WITH OTHER TONGUES (languages), as the Spirit gave them utterance."

In Acts 2:21, Peter said, "it shall come to pass, that WHOSOEVER SHALL CALL ON THE NAME OF THE LORD SHALL BE SAVED." He didn't say call on the name of the Lord and be baptized. Therefore, calling on the name of the Lord brings salvation.

In Acts 2:37,38, people asked Peter what they must do. "Then Peter said unto them, Repent, and be baptized every one of you in the name of Jesus Christ for the remission of sins, and ye shall receive the gift of the Holy Ghost." They were showing that they believed in Christ by their words and actions, repenting and being baptized publically in the name of Jesus Christ.

Remember what Paul said in Rom. 10:9,10? He said, "if thou shalt confess with thy mouth the Lord Jesus, and shalt believe in thine heart that God hath raised him from the dead, thou shalt be saved. For with the heart man believeth unto righteousness; and with the mouth confession is made unto salvation."

All this happening at once was a one-time sign for the Jews. Isa 28:9-12 says, "Whom shall he teach knowledge? and whom shall he make to understand doctrine? them that are weaned from the milk, and drawn from the breasts (i.e., when the Church is old). For precept must be upon precept, precept upon precept; line upon line, line upon line; here a little, and there a little: For with stammering lips and another tongue (a sign) will he speak to this people (the Jews). To whom he said, This is the rest wherewith ye may cause the weary to rest; and this is the refreshing: yet they would not hear."

The conversion of Saul/Paul was unlike anything since. Jesus appeared to him in light so bright Paul couldn't see for 3 days. At one time, Paul was taken up to Paradise in the third Heaven too (II Cor. 12:1-7). Paul was taught by the Lord, and made the apostle to the Gentiles (Acts 9:15;13:47).

The conversion at Cornelius' house is not like that of the disciples, or of Paul. In Acts 10:42-48, Peter said to Cornelius and those gathered there with him, "And he commanded us to preach unto the people, and to testify that it is he which was ordained of God to be the Judge of quick and dead. TO HIM GIVE ALL THE PROPHETS WITNESS, THAT THROUGH HIS NAME WHOSOEVER BELIEVETH IN HIM SHALL RECEIVE REMISSION OF SINS. While Peter yet spake these words, the Holy Ghost fell on all them which heard the word. And they of the circumcision which believed were astonished, as many as came with Peter, because that on the Gentiles also was poured out the gift of the Holy Ghost. For they heard them speak with tongues, and magnify God. Then answered Peter, Can any man forbid water, that these should not be baptized, which have received the Holy Ghost as well as we? And he commanded them to be baptized in the name of the Lord." This was the outward proof of the inward belief in the Lord Jesus Christ.

There was no wind or tongues of fire mentioned. Therefore, the conversion of the first Gentiles was different from that of the Jews on Pentecost. So what is the common denominator? Peter's "WHOSOEVER SHALL CALL ON THE NAME OF THE LORD SHALL BE SAVED" and his "THROUGH HIS NAME WHOSOEVER BELIEVETH IN HIM SHALL RECEIVE REMISSION OF SINS."

> > (Acts) 19:6
> > And when Paul had laid his hands upon them, the Holy Ghost came on them; and they spake with tongues, and prophesied. {Now they received the Holy Ghost }

The way it was then is not necessarily the way it is now. Notice that Paul laid hands on them. That was different from the way things were on Pentecost too. These were Ephesian disciples of John that were becoming Christians. Today, Christ baptizes us with the Spirit of Christ, which is the Spirit of God.
Rom 8:9 says, "But ye are not in the flesh, but in the Spirit, if so be that the Spirit of God dwell in you. Now if any man have not the SPIRIT OF CHRIST, he is none of his." IF WE ARE SAVED, WE ARE BAPTIZED WITH THE SPIRIT OF CHRIST. IF WE ARE NOT SAVED, WE ARE NOT BAPTIZED WITH THE SPIRIT OF CHRIST. In this case, Christ is the baptizer.

Even in Old Testament days, it was the SPIRIT OF CHRIST that was in the prophets. 1Pe 1:10-11 says, "Of which salvation the prophets have enquired and searched diligently, who prophesied of the grace that should come unto you: Searching what, or what manner of time THE SPIRIT OF CHRIST WHICH WAS IN THEM did signify, when it testified beforehand the sufferings of Christ, and the glory that should follow."

Mar 1:8 "I (John) indeed have baptized you with water: but he (Christ) shall baptize you with the Holy Ghost." John 1:33 says, "And I (John) knew him not: but he that sent me to baptize with water, the same said unto me, Upon whom thou shalt see the Spirit descending, and remaining on him, the same is he which baptizeth with the Holy Ghost." Eph 4:30 says, "GRIEVE NOT THE HOLY SPIRIT OF GOD, WHEREBY YE ARE SEALED UNTO THE DAY OF REDEMPTION."

> > ANSWER = because they were not baptized in the name of the one who died for you...
> > Example
> > Go ye therefore and teach all nations, baptizing them in the NAME {not name's } of the FATHER, SON AND HOLY GHOST: what is the one name?
> > FATHER = LORD Isa. 42:8 "I am the Lord and that is my name"
SON =JESUS Matt 1:21 " she shall bring forth a "Son and call his name JESUS
HOLY GHOST = CHRIST the anointed JOHN 44:25 Messias cometh called CHRIST 1 COR 1:14 THE POWER OFGOD.
and that is why Paul had to re-baptized John's disciples.

Mat 28:19 says, "Go ye therefore, and teach all nations, baptizing them in THE NAME (singular, one name) of the Father, and of the Son, and of the Holy Ghost." The Father, Son and Holy Spirit are three in one. 1Jo 5:7 says, "For there are three that bear record in heaven, the Father, the Word (the Son), and the Holy Ghost: and THESE THREE ARE ONE." In water baptism, we are to be baptized in the name of the Father, and of the Son, and of the Holy Ghost. Agape
