This sandstone tablet, durable proof of the existence of Solomon's temple, was probably burned and microscopically flecked with gold on the back when Nebuchadnezzar burned the temple.
Jer 52:12,13 says, "in the fifth month (Av), in the tenth day of the month, which was the nineteenth year of Nebuchadrezzar king of Babylon, came Nebuzaradan, captain of the guard, which served the king of Babylon, into Jerusalem, And burned the house of the LORD."
Inscribed on the tablet is the first-person message of Yoash/Joash, King of Judah, who ruled in Jerusalem at the end of the 9th century BC, when the temple was renovated. The 15 lines of the message closely agree with II Kings 12:1-6, 11-17.
The call of King Jehoash - “Why do you not repair the breaches of the house?” (II Kings 12:7) - is a call to our generation, says a spokesman for the movement to rebuild the Temple in our days, citing the prophet Haggai 1:2-14.
Now I can see why the Lord arranged for stone tablets to be used. They last, even through fire. Officials from the Geology Survey said that results of the battery of examinations that were carried out on the stone tablet must be taken as conclusive: "It's inconceivable that such extensive testing would fail to reveal a forgery," they said. "The inscription is authentic," they insisted. The finding is an archaeological sensation that could have global repercussions. It effectively vindicates Jewish claims to the Temple Mount that have been denied by Arafat's group.
I found another thing that I didn't know. The golden candlestick from the temple that was taken to Rome is said to be in the basement at the Vatican. Israel is asking for a list of temple items at the Vatican.
"...so our eyes wait upon the LORD our God, until that He have mercy upon us," Ps. 123:2.
"Message From Yoash, King Of Judah"

An inscribed stone tablet from the time of Yehoash, King of Judah, has apparently been discovered on the Temple Mount. The black stone tablet, containing ten lines of Phoenician script, describes activities carried out by King Yehoash in the First Temple some 2,700 years ago.
The inscription corresponds to the biblical account as recorded in Kings II 12, including King Yehoash's call to the Cohanim (priests) to collect money from the public for the purpose of renovating the Temple. The inscription details the purchase of wood and "quarried stones," and includes part of a Biblical passage recounting the event.
Nadav Shragai of Ha’aretz revealed the news of the discovery, and the fact that Israel’s Geological Institute has found that the stone is not a forgery. The archaeological community is still awaiting further proof that the find is genuine. Archaeologist Dr. Gabi Barkai said, however, that if it is authentic, it is “perhaps the most important artifact ever uncovered in the annals of archeology in the Land of Israel and Jerusalem.” He said that it would be the earliest known tablet precisely recounting a Biblical event, constituting rare evidence of the existence of the First Temple, which stood on the Temple Mount for over 400 years from the time of King Solomon until its destruction by Babylonian King Nebuchadnezzar.
The stone tablet was analyzed for one year by Israel's Geological Institute, which found that, geologically at least, the tablet could date back to the time of the First Temple. Sources at the Institute say that it would be impossible for the Institute's experts not to recognize a forgery based on the extensive tests that were performed on the stone. A research paper detailing the Institute's findings is to be published in two weeks.
The tablet was uncovered during the illegal construction work by the Moslem Waqf on the Temple Mount. Ironically, the purpose of the Waqf’s excavations is to erase all Jewish remains on the Temple Mount Judaism’s holiest site, currently the site of a Moslem mosque.
After its discovery, the tablet was apparently sold to an Arab antiquities collector in Israel, represented by Atty. Yitzchak Herzog. Herzog served as Cabinet Secretary under Prime Minister Ehud Barak and is currently a candidate for the Knesset on the Labor party list. The Arab collector offered to sell it to the Israel Museum, but museum officials, doubting its authenticity, refused to purchase it.
This part really tickles me:
"The tablet was uncovered during the illegal construction work by the Moslem Waqf on the Temple Mount. Ironically, the purpose of the Waqf’s excavations is to erase all Jewish remains on the Temple Mount Judaism’s holiest site, currently the site of a Moslem mosque.

Twice, the Arabs had it in their hands to hide or destroy the evidence. Yet God made sure that it surfaced now to wake people up before the Rapture. The Muslims just don't know who they are up against. They can't fight God and win.
Yes, "it is “perhaps the most important artifact ever uncovered in the annals of archeology in the Land of Israel and Jerusalem.” And to think the Arabs let this one slip through their fingers. They'll be kicking themselves over this one. The very thing that they didn't want to do--they did. :-)
Thanks for such a neat anniversary present. This one would be hard to beat. I'll be checking Ha’aretz every night for more news on this. The next Bible Archeology Digest will probably have an article on it too. You made my day. Agape
...The artifact was found to have suffered fire damage, which could be confirmation of its presence in the Temple when Babylonian King Nebuchadnezzar set the holy site aflame, as recorded in the Bible. The geologists feel, based on the materials covering the tablet, that it was buried some 500-600 years after it was written.
The tablet's ten lines of Phoenician script, written in the first-person, are an account of the renovations King Yehoash carried out in the Temple....
A-7: "Yehoash describes here a project of renovating the Temple, what he did and how he raised the money. Does this square with that which is written in the Book of Kings?"
Rabbi Meidan: "Very much so. It also puts some light on something that doesn't appear in the Book of Kings, but that can tell us something about the personality of King Yehoash that becomes apparent later in Chronicles II [where the King's sins are recounted], showing a slight bit - 'an eighth of an eighth' - of arrogance... Yehoash's life can be divided into two parts: when his mentor Yehoyada the Prophet was alive, and after Yehoyada's death, when Yehoash strayed from the path..."
The preceding story of the Temple Mount tablet also has its shady sides. An Israeli law of the year 1978 states clearly that any archaeological find discovered after that date belongs to the State of Israel, and can therefore not be sold or used by private citizens. Despite this, Atty. Yitzchak Herzog - former Cabinet Secretary under Prime Minister Barak and currently a Labor Party candidate for Knesset - is representing the Arab collector in his efforts to sell the tablet.
Archaeologist Dr. Eilat Mazar, of the Committee to Prevent Desecration of Temple Mount Antiquities, told Arutz-7 this morning that "the man who served as Cabinet Secretary for the government at the time that the most widespread destruction of Temple Mount artifacts was taking place - is now representing the man who is trying to sell findings from those very ruins." She said that this fact "arouses very strong question marks," and that a financial sum of "many millions" is involved.
...Like the amazing timing of the discovery of the Dead Sea Scrolls, should we not also consider that this find is directed to our generation. The call of King Jehoash - “Why do you not repair the breaches of the house?” - is a call to our generation, says a spokesman for the movement to rebuild the Temple, citing the prophet Haggai 1:2-14
An inscription attributed to Jehoash, the king of Judea who ruled in Jerusalem at the end of the ninth century B.C.E., has been authenticated by experts from the National Infrastructure Ministry's Geological Survey of Israel following months of examination.... "Detailed research findings about the inscription are to be disclosed in a collection of articles published by the Geology Survey of Israel."...
Dr. Gabriel Barkai, a leading Israeli archaeologist from Bar Ilan University's Land of Israel Studies Department, says that if the inscription proves to be authentic, the finding is a "sensation" of the greatest import. It could be, he says, the most significant archaeological finding yet in Jerusalem and the Land of Israel.
In it, the king tells priests to take "holy money ... to buy quarry stones and timber and copper and labor to carry out the duty with faith." If the work is completed well, "the Lord will protect his people with blessing," reads the last sentence of the inscription.
The collector then took the tablet to Israel's Geological Institute, whose experts studied it over the past year. "Our findings show that it is authentic," said Shimon Ilani, who performed geological tests on the inscription. Carbon dating confirms the writing goes back to the 9th century B.C., he said.
In the outer layer, Ilani and his colleagues found microscopic flecks of gold that could have been burnt into the stone when a building containing both the tablet and gold objects was destroyed.
This could mean the tablet was actually part of Solomon's Temple, which was destroyed by the Babylonians in 586 B.C., said Amos Bean, director of the institute.
"These specks of gold are not natural material, but a sign of human activity," said Bean. "They could be from gold-plated objects in the home of a very rich man, or a temple. ... It's hard to believe that anyone would know how to do these things to make it look real."
The stone itself was probably from the Dead Sea area and was originally whiter than its current dark gray, Bean said.
Hershel Shanks, editor of the Washington-based Biblical Archaeology Review, said the tablet, if authentic, would be "visual, tactile evidence that reaches across 2,800 years."
Barkai said the inscription's resemblance to biblical passages "has far-reaching implications of the historical importance of the biblical text."
Several other inscriptions excavated in recent years refer to characters or events from the Bible. A stone inscription found in northern Israel includes the phrase "house of David." Most experts consider this to be the first ancient writing outside the Bible that refers to King David or the Davidic line of kings, which has corroborated the basic history of the Hebrew Scriptures....

On More Than One Occasion The Temple Mount Faithful Movement Demanded That the Pope Return The Temple Treasures to Israel to be Used in the Soon-To-Be-Rebuilt Temple
During his recent visit to Italy, the President of Israel, Moshe Katzav, asked the Prime Minister of the Vatican, Cardinal Angelo Sudano, to prepare a list of all the Temple treasures, vessels and Judaica that are being held by the Vatican. The President asked for the Vatican's co-operation on this issue which is sensitive to Israel.
The major importance of this request is the fact that the Vatican holds the Temple Menorah of pure gold which, together with other holy vessels from the temple, was stolen by the Romans and taken to Rome in 70 CE. After the destruction of the Temple and the Israeli kingdom, the Roman emperor, Titus, who destroyed the temple, built a triumphal arch in Rome which portrayed the menorah and other vessels from the Temple in Jerusalem. The arch shows Israeli captives carrying the Menorah and the vessels in Rome. The fact that the Menorah and the holy vessels were taken to Rome and later, when the Roman Empire became Christian, the Menorah and vessels were placed in the basement of the Vatican, has passed down from generation to generation of the Jewish people. During the exile the holy Menorah and vessels remained at the focus of the memory of the Jewish people. Their dream was that one day soon they would recover them from the Vatican and return them to Jerusalem which would indicate the beginning of the rebuilding of the Temple in Jerusalem and the redemption of the people and land of Israel.
The fact that the Vatican holds these holy Temple vessels has been very well know since 70 CE and many Jews travelled to the Vatican when they could do so to look for them and to see them. Some of the travellers testified that they had personally seen the golden Menorah and the vessels in the basements of the Vatican. Some priests have even confirmed the fact that the Menorah and holy vessels are in the Vatican.
On more than one occasion over the past years, The Temple Mount and Land of Israel Faithful Movement have demanded of the Vatican and the Pope that they immediately return the golden Menorah and the other Temple vessels as well as any other Judaica that they hold. The Vatican and the Pope have never responded to these demands. The Temple Mount Faithful Movement advised them to do it immediately and to no longer hold them in captivity and that, if they would not do so, the G–d of Israel would "help" them to do so.
The Temple Mount Faithful Movement and all the Jewish People and Israel were very happy that President Katzav had requested this now and had given official status to the request. He did so in the name of all the Jewish People as well as the State of Israel. This was the first time it has been done by an Israeli president since the destruction of the Temple and was a very important event. It signified in a very exciting way that Israel is now living in the prophetic end-times of redemption, that the Temple of the G–d of Israel is soon to be rebuilt in Jerusalem and that the golden Menorah from the SecondTemple and the other vessels should be returned to Jerusalem to be used in the Third, end-time Temple. Many people in the world did not pay attention to this exciting, end-time event which should move the heart of everyone in the world and they missed this major event.
It should be noted that a previous Israeli Minister of Religion, Shimon Shitreet, had requested the Vatican to return the holy golden Menorah from the Temple as well as the other vessels. He presented that Vatican with the results of historical research which showed that the Menorah and vessels were taken to Rome together with the Israeli captives and then to the Vatican after the destruction of the SecondTemple. The research was also based on theornamentation on the Titus' triumphal arch in Rome which confirms it in a very clear manner. This request was ignored and even raised opposition and disapproval in the Vatican.
Despite the fact that the Prime Minister of the Vatican did not disapprove of the request of President Katsav, he did not show any readiness to accept it and no progress was made with regard to the matter.
Sources in the Vatican denied that the Pope is holding the holy Menorah from the Temple in Jerusalem. They stated that the current Pope is sensitive to the life of the Jews and that he would act to return an item which has such a religious and symbolic value as has the Menorah. The sources said nothing about the request of the Israeli president to prepare a list of all the other holy vessels from the Temple. The reaction of these sources raised great disappointment and anger in Israel and among the Jewish people. Historians and researchers and everyone in Israel again stressed what has been very well known since 70 CE - that the temple Menorah and the other Temple vessels are, indeed, held by the Vatican in its hidden basements and, as in the past, they do not want to return them to the Jewish People, to Jerusalem, to be used in the Third Temple which is soon to be rebuilt. Israel has very clear evidence which makes this an undeniable fact. It is very well known that the Vatican also holds ancient Torah Scrolls, Jewish manuscripts and other holy vessels in its basements.
The Office of the President of Israel confirmed the president's request and stated that it is "a meaningful break-through and the first major request of this kind from an Israeli president".
The fact that the Vatican and the Pope are not ready to return the Temple Menorah and the vessels to Israel and Jerusalem will not deter The Temple Mount and Land of Israel Faithful Movement in their struggle and campaign to bring about the return of these major vessels from the Temple to Israel and Jerusalem. Israel is now living in G–d's time of redemption and the Temple Mount Faithful Movement is the vessel of the G–d of Israel to immediately rebuild His holy Temple on the Temple Mount in Jerusalem. The demand of the Faithful Movement is the demand of G–d Himself and we are His messengers to present it with no delay. It will not help the Vatican and the Pope to try in this way to stop the march of the prophetic history of Israel and even all the world. They have no chance to fight against the G–d of Israel and His clear intention to redeem Israel and all the world and to rebuild His house in Jerusalem.
Israel is now in the midst of a major, prophetic, end-time struggle and campaign to rebuild the kingdom of G–d in the land of Israel and all over the world and to again locate the G–d of Abraham, Isaac and Jacob in His rebuilt house in Jerusalem on Mt.Moriah. It is the desire of G–d Himself to see the original Menorah and the holy vessels from the temple liberated from captivity in the Vatican and used in the worship in the end-time temple which is soon to be rebuilt.
We advise the Pope and the Vatican to give up trying to stop the march of G–d and history to Jerusalem. We demand of them that they immediately return the Menorah, the holy vessels and other holy items to Israel and Jerusalem before the anger and judgement of G–d forces them to do so.
However, as we see, we are living in very special, exciting and prophetic end-times. We are witnesses of the fulfilment of end-time prophecies by the prophets of Israel thousands of years ago. The time of the destruction, exile and captivity of Israel is over, thanks to G–d, and we are living in the midst of a very exciting time of redemption that for so many years was a dream, a desire and a prayer of the people of Israel and is now becoming a reality. We are witnesses of major end-time events and many more will occur in the near future. The significance of all this for all mankind is even greater than people can imagine. We are at the beginning of a major godly time and everything will come from Jerusalem, from the Temple Mount, the holy hill of G–d and our lives are completely dedicated to this end. Everyone is called on to lift their eyes to Israel and Jerusalem and mainly to the Temple Mount and to see what the G–d of Israel is doing now in the holy land with His people, Israel, and what He will do in the near future.
Blessed are and will be the wonderful friends of Israel and the Faithful Movement who have decided to be a part of this major event of all times and who stand so devotedly with us. They have heard the call of G–d and answered it with no doubts. Together we shall soon see the great godly fulfilment.
We are witnesses of major end-time event Pictures will appear together with the article on our web site. Please go there.
Israeli geologists say a purportedly ancient stone tablet detailing repair plans for the Jewish Temple of King Solomon is genuine, an Israeli newspaper has reported....
Our findings show that it is authentic
Israeli Geological Institute
If officially authenticated, the find would be the first piece of physical evidence backing up biblical texts.
It could also intensify competing claims to the site in Jerusalem's Old City, where the stone is said to have been found, which go to the heart of the Arab-Israeli conflict.
Muslim clerics have denied any Jewish historical connection with the site, revered by Jews as the location of their biblical temples.
The blackened stone was unearthed during renovations by Muslim authorities on a mosque compound, known to Muslims as Haram as-Sharif and to Jews as the Temple Mount, according to the Ha'aretz daily....
The incomplete sandstone tablet contains an inscription in ancient Phoenician in which a king tells priests to take "holy money... to buy quarry stones and timber and copper and labour to carry out the duty with the faith"....
The tablet was examined by experts at Israel's Geological Institute.
"Our findings show that it is authentic," Ha'aretz quoted Shimon Ilani from the institute as saying.
Mr Ilani said carbon dating showed the tablet was inscribed around the 9th Century BC.
The stone was also said to have been found to contain microscopic gold flecks, which mean it may have existed in the Temple itself....
The Godhead - A Family
There is ample evidence in the Scriptures that the Godhead is a unity made up of God the Father, God the Son, and God the Holy Spirit. We should not feel that it is an insult to our intelligence to expect us to accept this revealed truth of Scripture. Let us be as open to the truth as that converted Indian who gave the following illustration, imperfect though it is, for his belief in the Trinity: "We go down to the river in winter and we see it covered with snow; we chop through the ice and we come to the water. Snow is water, ice is water, water is water; therefore the three are one." In this way, God demonstrates his triune nature through the natural world.
I cannot see how you get 120 days from June 7 to Sept 13. My Excel spreadsheet shows 98 days difference. Would you please clarify?
To count from Nisan 8 in 30 AD to Av 10 in 70 AD, start with Nisan 8, add 22 days in Nisan, 29 days in Iyar, 30 days in Sivan, 29 days in Tamuz, and 10 days in Av. That equals 120 days.
I'm no mathematician. Please tell me if I'm not thinking straight. I think it was Eric Casagrande that figured it out in the first place, but I checked it on my Jewish Calendar. I wrote the number in the rectangle for each date and ended up with 120. Agape
