Although hard to see in this photo, most of the star points are said to be visible. These "stars" are made of three crossed lines, but seem to represent the same thing as the Magan David on Israel's flag that is made of two equilateral triangles. The six points seem to be the important thing.
The circled 6-point star on the James ossuary is basically the same pattern found on other ossuaries, as in the following picture. This star resembles a 6-spoked wheel incised in the red-painted back of the ossuary. Why red? It reminds us of the blood of Christ that was shed for us. The back of the James ossuary has flecks of red paint on it too, showing that he was a Messianic Jewish believer in Yeshua.
Num 24:17 says, "I shall see him (Yeshua/Jesus), but not now: I shall behold him, but not nigh: there shall come a STAR (Yeshua/Jesus) out of Jacob, and a Sceptre (Christ the King) shall rise out of Israel." Since Christ is the star out of Jacob and the Scepter out of Israel, I can see that both types of six-pointed stars, one made with 3 crossed lines, the other made with 2 interlocked triangles, could symbolize Christ, the Son of Man.
Six is the number of man, created on the sixth day. The three concentric circles on the James ossuary probably represent the Father, Son and Holy Spirit, connecting the Son of Man (the star) with his other title, the Son of God. Thus, the inner circle would represent the Son of God. Do these circled stars mark the ossuaries of those that believe in Yeshua? I think they do.
The second article below tells us another interesting fact. Some of the ossuaries had lamps and flasks of oil in them. To me, that marks that person as a wise virgin of Mt. 25:1f. James was a wise virgin.
...Two of the ROM ossuaries have decoration incised through an overall red-paint coating so that the design shows up very strongly.
(The third one is decorated but without the paint.) A common feature in the decoration of all three is the presentation of incised circles containing six-pointed stars....Academics have no convincing explanation for what symbolism is represented in a star-circle...Yet it is one of the most persistent of the features that can be observed in the nearly 900 Herodian ossuaries from Jerusalem.
When I visited the laboratory of ROM conservator Ewa Dziadowiec [she repaired it] (where the ossuary was recently re-assembled but held together with clamps and a strap), I was astonished to see two [really 3] faintly incised concentric circles at the right side of the back. Closer examination (now that the clamps are removed) allows one to see a matching circle to the left, and traces of star points in both circles.
...SOME OSSUARIES HAVE BEEN FOUND TO CONTAIN LAMPS AND FLASKS FOR OIL [as we find in Mt. 25:1f]. Unfortunately, most of the ossuaries in collections have not come from scientifically controlled excavations, and we have lost a lot of potentially priceless information about the contents. The size of the stone box was designed to be big enough to accommodate the long bones intact. From the inventory of other ossuaries known in collections, we may conclude that the James of the ossuary was a small man in physical stature.
Like Old Hebrew, Aramaic was a so-called Semitic language... "Semitic" was the term applied to those languages that were thought to be derived from what Shem, the son of Noah, spoke. Hebrew and Aramaic are closely related in language structure. Both languages are read from right to left, and they are written in a simple alphabetic script that is derived from the Phoenician alphabet of Canaan...
Aramaic was the common language of Middle East during the first century AD. With the dispersal of the Jews from the Kingdom of Judah in the First Exile period (586 BCE), the use of Old Hebrew ceased except for those who maintained the religious texts....
"This same James, who was the first bishop of Jerusalem and known as Justus, was considered so holy by the people that they earnestly sought to touch the hem [tizitzith, tassle] of his clothing" [prayer shawl]. Jerome. Commentary on Galatians, 396: 1.19
In the Christian tradition, James was the leader of the Church in Jerusalem. Clement, the man who replaced Peter as bishop of Rome, wrote to him as "James, bishop of bishops, who rules Jerusalem, the holy church of the Hebrews." He was visited in 58 CE in Jerusalem by Paul who referred to him as "the Lordís brother." He was sometimes referred to as James the Just.
"Convening the judges of the Sanhedrin, (Ananus) brought before them a man called James the brother of Jesus who was called the Christ, and certain others. He accused them of having transgressed the law, and condemned them to be stoned to death." Flavius Josephus. Antiquities of the Jews, 20: 9.1.
James was martyred in Jerusalem in 62 CE after refusing to deny to the High Priest and the Pharisees that Jesus was the Messiah....
"Then after three years, I (Paul) went up to Jerusalem to see Peter, and abode with him fifteen days. But other of the apostles saw I none, save James the Lordís brother." Bible. New Testament, Galatians 1:18-19...
Testing by the Geological Survey of Israel confirms that the limestone is from the Jerusalem area, quarried in the first and second century CE. Microscopic analysis matched the surface patina (a film of chemicals which forms on stone over time) to the patina in the grooves of the inscription. This indicates that the ossuary and the inscription are the same age. The patina did not contain any modern elements and is consistent with cave burial. There were no signs of modern tool marks.
The study of ancient writing (epigraphy) also helps to establish the date of the James ossuary. The words used in the inscription for son (bar) and brother (akhui) attest to its being Aramaic, the everyday language of Jesus and the Apostles. The general (palaeographic) style of the letters places the inscription in the 20 BCE - 70 CE time range. The shape of the dalet ("d"), yod ("y") and aleph ("a"), narrow the time range down to roughly 50 - 70 CE....
The owner purchased the ossuary from an antiques dealer, who is thought to have obtained the object from an Arab labourer, who found it in a cave near Silwan, just outside Jerusalem....
Statistically, the combination of the three names in the James ossuary increases considerably the possibility that this was the James, brother of Jesus of Nazareth. Thereís only one other known example with three names.
AP TORONTO 1-19-03...Minimalist Niels Peter Lemche of the University of Copenhagen, Denmark, admits something called Israel did exist centuries before the Exile. It's nearly impossible to argue otherwise, since a military attack upon "Israel" was cited around 1210 B.C. in an Egyptian inscription...
Much debate focuses on Israel's first three kings, given these traditional dates of rule: Saul (1034 B.C. or earlier to 1012 B.C.), David (1012 B.C. to 972 B.C.) and Solomon (972 B.C to 932 B.C). Others say dates are uncertain but the three reigned around 1000 B.C.
AP - ...The ark still existed under King Josiah in the seventh century B.C....
Local legend holds that the ark was brought to Ethiopia by the nation's first king. Belief in the ark is a central feature of Ethiopian Orthodox Christianity....
Today, a replica known as a tabot is paraded instead, to protect the ark.
Tabots are important in Ethiopian churches, filling a place similar to icons in Greek and Russian Orthodoxy.
Notice the circled 6-pointed star on the Tabot. The Ethiopians should realize it is a symbol of Christ.
...The script is similar to that found on the Qumran Copper Scroll, which is dated to the 60s CE....
Vindicating his theory, more recent pictures from NASA's polar spacecraft, orbiting Earth some 30,000 miles out, clearly show about 43,000 OBJECTS A DAY STREAKING TOWARD EARTH at around 20,000 mph. Mostly water, they vaporize in our atmosphere. (Science News, May 31, 1997, page 332; AP Release, May 29, 1997; Time, June 9, 1997, page 52) I wonder how many scientists were taken by complete surprise when they heard that news.
That helps us understand Jer. 10:13. It says, "WHEN HE UTTERETH HIS VOICE, THERE IS A MULTITUDE OF WATERS IN THE HEAVENS, and (i.e., besides that) he causeth the vapours to ascend from the ends of the earth; he maketh lightnings with rain, and bringeth forth the wind out of his treasures."
This is repeated in Jer 51:16. Why? to make sure we understand? It says, "WHEN HE UTTERETH HIS VOICE, THERE IS A MULTITUDE OF WATERS IN THE HEAVENS; and he causeth the vapours to ascend from the ends of the earth: he maketh lightnings with rain, and bringeth forth the wind out of his treasures.
Thank you, too, Marilyn for bringing to my attention 1 Thess.. 1:10. This verse couldn't be clearer promising the saved children of the Lord their redemption drawing nigh. The Savior's appearance for His own at the rapture IS before He pours out the Wrath of God.
Halleluiah, our Lord has chosen you to be one of those who helps us to understand our blessed Hope in Jesus. Our Lord will call us Home to stand at His side as the Bride of Christ forming the "jewels in His crown. Oh, how Lovely is the plan of God for our souls!!!! Our little lights having the privilege to reflecting back to Jesus, the glory of the Lord!!!! Christ's glory is the Heart of the Father!!!! - our gift of redemption to ever honor Jesus in worship and praises to His Name. What a salvation, this great gift and blessed hope is ours, Marilyn, as we wait for His appearing - our future with the Savior in Heaven forever and ever!!!!!
The tablet has a lengthy description in ancient Phoenician which is written in the first person and signed by King Joash of Israel....

I think I recall in a recent ProCon an interpretation of Bible prophecy that the weapons will be found under "heaps of dust" which the e-mailer used to predict that the weapons would be found under the closed museum of Babylon. It was the scriptural part that struck a chord with me because I envisioned either a landfill or a man-made mountain. After reading this and filing it in the back of my mind , the headline news spoke of inspectors at a man-made mountain. Will you refresh your readers as to which scriptures these were?
I, too, am watching world events and the skies. I believe Jer. 50 is a reference to arrows to be used against Babylon. I read this scripture as a youngster and wondered at modern warfare using arrows. When I read more recently that the weapons used by Israel are called "arrows" it made sense to me. Additionally, I wanted to let you know that when I was a reservist they taught us to use a shoulder mounted anti-tank weapon whose canister had a strap on it and was carried like a quiver. I glorify God that the scriptures are being made clear to us. Thank you.
I saw a picture of an armed man standing at a door in Babylon. After a robbery at the museum, Babylon has been closed, but still guarded. Why? Is Saddam hiding arms beneath the rebuilt part of the city? Here are excerpts of an article on Babylon:
THIEVES PLUNDERING CRADLE OF CIVILIZATION
Miami Herald By Barbara Demick, Knight Ridder Newspapers Babylon
...It was no ordinary theft. The burglars knew exactly what they were looking for and how to get it. They came around noon, as the guards were changing shift. They smashed the museum doors and a display case, absconding with cuneiform tablets and cylinders from the 6th Century B.C. They left behind gold jewelry that might have tempted amateurs. If there is any doubt that Iraq is skidding into a long downward spiral, the proof can be found here in Babylon, one of the oldest cities known.
Opportunistic criminals are taking advantage of the poverty and lawlessness that prevails in today's Iraq to steal that which is most precious to this country -- its glorious past. Quite literally, they are robbing from the cradle of civilization. Babylon today is a forlorn tourist site near the banks of the Euphrates River, 50miles southwest of Baghdad. It is built around the mustard-brick remains of the palace of Nebuchadnezzar II (605-562 B.C.), the Mesopotamian ruler of ancient Babylonia who earned dubious repute in the Bible for conquering Jerusalem and deporting its kings. Although President Saddam Hussein ordered the palace restored a decade ago, few tourists come here anymore, for there is little to see.
All that remains of the statuary and antiquities that once filled the palace grounds is a black basalt lioness, basking alone in the sunshine. The museum is now closed -- a security measure ordered in the aftermath of the April 1996 robbery. Its contents have been moved to Baghdad for safekeeping. "There's nothing to see in there. Just the walls,'' a guide, Rabha Ameedi, said as he shuffled past the padlocked doors of the Babylon Museum....
Nicholas Postgate, an archaeologist with Cambridge University and a contributor to Lost Heritage the catalogue of stolen Iraqi antiquities, said archaeologists in the United States and England are trying to help raise awareness of the problem. "The better antiquities dealers won't handle anything that might be stolen, but there are sleazy dealers out there, too,'' Postgate said. "And there is a feeling that when it comes to Iraq, it is fair game. They don't have to feel sorry for the Iraqis.''
At the same time, the Iraqi leader has come under sharp criticism for insensitivity to Iraq's heritage, especially in Babylon. As part of a controversial series of restorations in the late 1980s, new bricks were piled atop the remains of Nebuchadnezzar's palace with inscriptions that read: "In the era of the victorious Saddam Hussein, the protector of greater Iraq and the restorer of its civilization, this city was rebuilt once again.'' Looming above Nebuchadnezzar's palace on a MAN-MADE HILL called "Saddam Hill'' is a new palace that is supposed to be a private residence for the Iraqi leader. He has never stayed there.
Saddam's new palace on a man-made hill called Saddam Hill could be a hiding place for weapons. So could the rebuilt buildings in Babylon. That would explain the armed guards.
After Babylon is destroyed the next time, no man will walk there. Jer 51:41-43 says, "How is Sheshach taken! and how is the praise of the whole earth (when the UN and UR have their headquarters there) surprised! how is Babylon become an astonishment among the nations! The sea is come up upon Babylon: she is covered with the multitude of the waves thereof (because of the asteroid impact, Rev. 18:21). Her cities are a desolation, a dry land, and a wilderness, a land wherein no man dwelleth, neither doth any son of man pass thereby."
The asteroid of Rev. 8:10 will destroy Babylon, but what if Saddam has nuclear bombs hidden underground there? The residual radiation would keep men from walking there. Will the asteroid set off a nuclear explosion? The noise of the taking of Babylon will be heard around the world. Jer 25:31 says, "A noise shall come even to the ends of the earth; for the LORD hath a controversy with the nations, he will plead with all flesh; he will give them that are wicked to the sword, saith the LORD." The asteroid is not only the Sword of the Lord, but the "flaming sword" of Gen. 3:24. It turns in all directions because it rotates and orbits.
Jer 51:49 says, "As Babylon hath caused the slain of Israel to fall, so at Babylon shall fall the slain of all the earth." With the UN and UR headquarters there, people of every nation on earth will be there. Agape
PRAVDA.Ru...Recently, on December 27, 2002 Ukraineís newspaper Pravda Ukraini (Ukrainian Truth) published a sensation that attracted little attention in the fuss on the New Yearís eve. The newspaper reported that a meteorite called Eight (it is called so by its shape) was approaching the Earth and would hit the planet on January 25, 2003....
Baikal Lake is one of the possible spots of the meteoriteís falling; if the catastrophe occurs, the lake will turn into one more ocean, not to mention the accompanying climate cataclysms....
I am para-phrasing an interesting letter I saw at Marilyn Agee's website. Basically it said that Michael Drosnin's Bible Code II book predicts world war and atomic holocaust for the Jewish year 5766. The Jewish year 5766 begins on October 4, 2005 and ends September 22, 2006. So 5766 must be the middle of the tribulation. If you back up 42 months from the latest date of September 22, 2006, or 3 1/2 years, the length of the first half of the tribulation, you are at about April or May of this year, 2003. And that really lines up with the thinking that the pre-tribulation rapture could happen this spring!
Next Jesus and "all" his 4 deciples goes "up" to Cana in Galilee John 2:1 to a "WEDDING" were Jesus changed 6 huge clay jars (The dead in Christ for the last 6,000 yrs. baptized with water yet changed only by the blood of Christ to present to the Banquet Master (GOD) who is pleased he saved the best(His only begotten son) for last and accepts the vessels (Us Christians) Mary presents Jesus as the lamb and told all the servents to do what ever he tells them. (Perhaps this is the crowning after the wedding banquet then Jesus immediately goes "DOWN" to Capernaum with his mother, brothers and his deciples. for a few days. There he cleans the temple and sets up as his own. John 43-53 Models the death of the pre possessed anti Christ who Jesus saves for Satan who call's the boy his son then goes "Down" to meet his "Servents" who tell him that he recovers. Here Jesus states that "Unless you people see miraculous signs and wonders," Jesus told "HIM" (Satan) "YOU WILL NEVER BELIEVE!"
Any ways you get the jist I am not the most prolific writer or speaker but I didn't know if you had seen this before and I thought maybe you could figure out the time line through the days and hours given. Help me complete my Epiphany! Thanks YBIC JEFF Agape!
I think the wedding at Cana (circle, i.e., sphere, Heaven) represents the Marriage of the Lamb in Heaven on the first day of the millennial reign of Christ. That is when Christ will drink the best wine with us. Six is the number of man, created on the sixth day. Therefore, there were six water pots. The clay jars represent our bodies of clay. I think this will be Tishri 1, 5768 (Sept. 13, 2007), the Feast of Trumpets. Agape
(Jesus said that his hour had not yet come. I take that to indicate that the Marriage of the Lamb is before the Second Advent. I think the marriage is 7 months (Eze. 39:12,13) prior to the Second Advent.)
P.S. I still believe that "no man knoweth the day nor the hour," but we can know the times and the seasons. We must continue to watch, and if we can just recognize prophet events when they happen before our eyes, we will do better than they did when our Lord Jesus came the first time.
You are so right about recognizing prophetic events. We are alert. The Pharisees were not. Agape
Time to invent the wheel, or did God invent the wheel first? Despite all of mankind's technological breakthroughs he still does not know with total accurate mathematical precision the answer to the riddle of the beginning & end of a circle's cryptogram that must be expressed with the Greek symbol of pi. Now, draw a circle using a compass. Utilizing the same radius, mark the edges of the circle in a 180 degree arc used to draw the circumference. Can you see the fish and the flower? Should I email an example?
Do you see how 6 radii equals a circle's circumference? Do you see how the 6 radii mark the 6 points on the edge of a circle? From the 6 points one can draw two interlocking triangles, the Star of David, a hexagon, hexagram, or just break the p of a circle and you get the Fibonacci spiral as seen throughout all of nature (i.e. snail shell, DNA, galaxy, the way a flower unfolds, etc.)
In addition, a 5 sided diamond shaded in yellow can be found at the heart of the Jewish Star in the center of the jewel shaped superman-like logo drawn below.

Thanks. Now I see another reason why the Magen David is a 6-pointed star. There is a correlation in meaning between the 6 points of the Magen David and the 6 radii points of the inner circle on the James ossuary. Since I think the star of David symbolizes Christ, the Son of David, the Star that would come out of Jacob, your information is very interesting.
Six represents man, created on the sixth day. Here the six points would represent Christ as the Son of Man. The James ossuary has a 6-point star surrounded with three concentric circles. The inner one touches the six points of the star, thus making a connection between the Son of Man (the 6 points of the star) and the Son of God (the inner circle made up of 6 radii). Since the inner circle represents the Son of God, the other 2 circles would represent the Father and Holy Spirit. It looks to me like the triple-circled 6-pointed star on the ossuary marks that person as a believer in Yeshua, the Star that would come out of Jacob. Agape
